What Benn said about the news' content is spot on; they were literally looking to report on trouble instead of actually trying to understand the context of why the protest existed. It's a real education listening to these videos.
Thank god for Charlie Brooker. He disarms with a good mixture of dark humour and genuine whimsy, and then when everyone's off their guard, he whallops pertinents point and anger-inducing truths left, right and center. His work deserves far more attention, and I genuinely feel that I have become cleverer as a telly-watchersperson thanks to him.
@Njalvis I agree with you, but I have never seen guns being handed out to everyone willy-nilly. I am all for some gun control (such as only buying from licensed dealers and performing a background check but NO registration). As we both agreed no country is perfect. I don't hate other countries (maybe some middle eastern countries) like some people on here do, I even like Russia! The amount of hate us Americans get from the UK is ridiculous and undeserved. I would LOVE to visit the UK one day.
@robs104 I think there should be less checks on the sellers, and more on the buyers. For example, I'm more worried about some nutty bastard buying a legal handgun from a licensed dealer than a old woman buying a stolen AK from some back alley. Unless old people turn bad, but that's a whole different issue. I agree with you about hating countries completely, I don't see how somebodycan hate an ENTIRE county, eg. hating the USA. That's over 300m people, no way EVERY one of them are bad!
@darraghok i honestly don't think they're bias against the protesters but rather don't care too much about stating the facts and more about getting as messy, dirty and attention grabbing images to the viewer. the internet is where the news is now.
@drunkmonkful The scare-word communism has been replaced by the word socialism in the past few years. It's used in the exact same way and to mean the same thing. But few use the word communism to scare anymore.
@drunkmonkful seeing how Britain is widely renowned as the most surveilled country in the world that comment is quite rich. plus last time i checked it wasn't illegal for "yanks" to photograph the police.
@somebizkit your definition of communism seems to be that naive u.s. propaganda from the 60's i don't know how you equate totalitarian dictatorships with communism. oh wait, actually i do, hollywood movies...
What a waste. Where's all the talk about what the protest was actually about? You know, education cuts? Was there at the protest while it actually meant something, left just before it devolved into riotous bollocks.
@robs104 Not sure giving everyone a gun is a good idea. No matter what the country, you're going to get some people who aren't going to be just 'defending' themselves. The US has it's plenty of gun crime issues, although you're right, no country is perfect.
Although it isn't funny he died, I find it absolutely incredible how the police had to hit the one man out of thousands, who wasn't even in the protest, and how that caused him to later die. Talk about once in a blue moon.
That Bill O'Reilly bloke is a tad unpleasant isn't he? I can't imagine the BBC allowing their presenters to label every person in a protest a 'loon' simply for being there. How strange.
@somebizkit and what communism would that be? russian? soviet union was as communist as democratic people's Republic of Korea is democratic... so, so much for that bullshit...
while it was happening the reporters were still keen to get across how peaceful the majority of the demonstration was. Having said that, they still didn't really broadcast those speeches Tony Benn was so keen on, they got mentioned in split screen but that was about it. Compare that with a scene a few days later where speeches from Jade Goody's funeral ceremony was broadcast at length...." I hate media.
@Catlover123445 Of course I wouldn't, because "smarter" means "more smart than". But "clever" does not mean "more clev than" - it's a word in its own right, which just happens to end in "er". Hence why it's perfectly acceptable for me to use the word "cleverer", which means "more clever than". Why can't you grasp this extraordinarily simple premise?
@robs104 I'm flattered :P It is true though, more problems can be solved through a civilised manner. A bit of common sense here and there, and humanity could be a much nicer thing.
@DynamicScherzo AGREED! They focused so much on that and the Millbank headquarters.. How many were there.. what 200? How many people demonstrated... 52,000-60,000. :l
@edinburghwestend Yeah, fair enough like - at least you were open-minded enough to give him a chance before disliking him, which is something not many people are into doing these days.
@drunkmonkful my God, you're right! My eyes have been closed this whole time. Through your insightful comment which was not politically naive at all, I now see that the rights to free speech in the United States are no better than East Germany under the Stasi. Or the Soviet Union during Stalinist purges. Or in North Korea. . . . erm. right.
@mennella2000 awwwwwwwww he thinks he's peoples uguuuu >:3. who's a good know it all? who's a good know it all? you are. yess you are yess you arree oaohhboogaabogga. but your sleeping outside tonight because someone is being snarky ugguuuuuu
"...started smashing windows, predictably, this became the second iconic image of the protest which was certainly captured on enough cameras. Honestly with all the lenses swarming around, you would have thought Paris Hilton's vagina was smashing the bank up." LOOL, what comical masterpiece charlie brooker is an absolute legend.
@Njalvis That's what I meant by performing a background check, I was talking about checking out the buyer. Here in the US to buy a weapon from a federally licensed dealer you have to pass an ATF background check, and it's pretty thorough. The thing is that bad people WILL find a gun if they want, whether it's illegal or banned etc... You seem like a level headed fellow, I wish there were more people like you in the world. Then people could talk and sort out their petty differences.
@Catlover123445 Erm...yes..."cleverer", meaning "more clever than", in reference to "more clever than I used to be before I started watching Charlie Brooker". And think - if I couldn't spell "cleverer", then I wouldn't be able to spell "clever", would I?
Bill O Reilly is like a villain in a shit kids film
What Benn said about the news' content is spot on; they were literally looking to report on trouble instead of actually trying to understand the context of why the protest existed. It's a real education listening to these videos.
I miss Tony Benn.
Vermillion 303 I'd have loved to have seen him deconstruct some of the Muppets today, from Farage and Trump to Antifa
"C**ts are still running the world" by Jarvis Cocker, of Pulp fame.
I BOTH LOVE AND FEEL TERRIFIED BY CHARLIE. HE MAKES UP MY MIND FOR ME.
You know you really shouldn't believe everything he says. 50% of the time it's just opinion based on few facts.
SORRY, ALREADY DID.
That Fox News clips was real? Hooly shit..thats a nation wide newsprogram? Thats scray as fuck.
Things have changed so much for the better.
Sarcasm?
Correct lol
Shush with all your arguing, all I want to know is when they're going to release the Shouty McHeadwound Man song with its wicked bassline.
That Skyboat makes me laugh so much.
Wow, what a vantage point that's not

Police medic heals with his magic healing stick.
"Zee healing is more regarding da ze hurting!"
This is one of the best episodes of Newswipe ever.
Even as a joke, this makes me feel ill.

I didn't know that it's been illegal for over 6 years to photograph the police.
+adamtzsch Now I've got to destroy my whole album, and some of them are really cute as well.
lol, deployed a giant xD
I don't find Brand very funny but I have to say he handled the press well giving a solid answer that none of them wanted to hear...
@stunery2k well the government have been known in the past to use agnet provocatuers ....it would suprise me neither
Very intelligent Brooker - as always.
the song it the end 'cunts are still running the world' by Jarvis Cocker is a nice touch.
@drunkmonkful alot of americans equate the nazis and communism as the same thing
Why did someone build a giant longhorn skull and parade it through the protests?
you all shut up with your politics... the real problem here is Russell Brand.
The comments on this video are far more depressing than anything in it.
they don't call the pigs for nothing! where were they in the riots!!!!
Police medic will beat you well with his magic stick of wellness
@Pizkol this video isn't about the student fees protest.
Love the Skyboat XD
these clips only become more and more true with time
Anyone know what song is used at 1:22 ?
2 people are on the Skyboat

You made me feel so special, and sooved away my fears.
I was there.

Jake Goddard Jarvis Cocker - Cunts Are Still Running the World I think
3:44 LOL
@Catlover123445 Of course I wouldn't, because "smarter" means "more smart than". But "clever" does not mean "more clev than" - it's a word in its own right, which just happens to end in "er". What if the anti-capitalists wanted universal fascism, Bill? That would be ok then?
@robs104 I'm flattered :P It is true though, more problems can be solved through a civilised manner. A bit of common sense here and there, and humanity could be a much nicer thing.
@DynamicScherzo AGREED! They focused so much on that and the Millbank headquarters.. How many were there.. what 200? How many people demonstrated... 52,000-60,000. :l
@edinburghwestend Yeah, fair enough like - at least you were open-minded enough to give him a chance before disliking him, which is something not many people are into doing these days.
I wanna hear the full version of that McShouty headwound man song and of course get dancing.
@drunkmonkful my God, you're right! My eyes have been closed this whole time. Through your insightful comment which was not politically naive at all, I now see that the rights to free speech in the United States are no better than East Germany under the Stasi. What kind of training do you need to become a police giant?
on final fantasy 9 i think you can beat someone well. maybe hes been playing too much of that.
@mennella2000
awwwwwwwww he thinks he's peoples uguuuu >:3. who's a good know it all? who's a good know it all? you are. yess you are yess you arree oaohhboogaabogga. but your sleeping outside tonight because someone is being snarky ugguuuuuu
6:36 Oh look Bill O' Reilly's talking about shit he knows nothing about. In other news, the sun rose this morning just as scheduled.
I ain't angry
Why Come?
I live here.
Just the way that was delivered made it hilarious!
@atomicbreaker I wonder if "CRAZY TIME" is the title of his segment? Ought to just lock him up in the old biddies' home.
Free nation ay? America and United Kingdom? The western civilization is free? Oh give me break don't make me sick.
@drunkmonkful well i lived under communism and yes its quite like you described. And yes - they have it.
@PrehistoricPinup
Free cigarettes!? I wouldn't like to be a lung there!
@Oliver5893 Charlie Brooker's 2010 Wipe is on BBC2 (Yes!) Mon 27th December @ 10pm
Carol from Big Brother 8 is at so many demos. I've seen her at least half a dozen times. I'll have to say hello some day.
@Njalvis That's what I meant by performing a background check, I was talking about checking out the buyer. @lordhaku I agree, whether you've become 'cleverer' is unlikely, better informed definitely.
@Catlover123445 Erm...yes..."cleverer", meaning "more clever than", in reference to "more clever than I used to be before I started watching Charlie Brooker". And think - if I couldn't spell "cleverer", then I wouldn't be able to spell "clever", would I?
If things carry on like this next thing u know Britain will be like George Orwell's 1984
@atomicbreaker As sad as it is, he's probably one of the most sane people on Fox News.
I really want some SKY shoes now..
aphex twin!

What was the name of this track?
@vanillaorchid The majority are. It's just the loud extreme minority that usually gets heard.
