Final Audio D8000 pro first impressions! Is this the most detailed headphone?

  • My first impressions on the Final Audio D8000pro, a wonderfully detailed headphone that will show you all the best and worst parts of your music and your gear.
    For me this beats out the Hifiman Susvara, Focal Utopia & Audeze LCD4 when it comes to detail retrieval and resolution. It does in my opinion however need some really first class equipment driving the unit.
    For me something like tubes really helped eliminate the dryness in the sound and bring some life and true enjoyment out of them.

      In the next video I'd love to know more about the stack you're using them with and how reactive they are to different equipment. These are intriguing. I'd love to try these out next to Stax 009S - are you able to compare with electrostatic, even if it's says a SR-700?

    • @BelieveHiFi
      @BelieveHiFi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Umm The phi TC (the latest and greatest) has some definite advantages when it comes to dynamic capability and bass capability, BUT, I feel this one has the edge on the most true to source presentation of the music and microdynamics (slightly)

  • @OriginalMindTrick
    @OriginalMindTrick 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure I agree about the price of gear and its relationship to bass etc. You can get very close to perfection with it comes to detail, transparency and gobsmack of power these days with a system well below 1000 and prices are falling. You might not get the sweet mids and holographic imaging of a really good tube amp but that comes down to preference. Personally, I like a bit of soul to my music and many high end headphones lack that so you need to add it in the chain and still try to keep technicalities high.

    • @BelieveHiFi
      @BelieveHiFi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely respect your point of view. When wanting that last bit of true detail and hyper resolution the cost does go through the roof.
      But as with almost everything the pareto principal applies. Having spent alot of time with Focal, PMC and ATC. I have heard layers of details that kind of spoiled me in speakers and has made a harsh critic out of me.
      Saying that, I have had very very enjoyable listening sessions out of low cost systems

    Awesome video, have you heard the original D8000 before? Also, do you prefer this to the LCD-4 and Utopia so far? Thanks.

    • @BelieveHiFi
      @BelieveHiFi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I do definately prefer these to the original D8000 both for the tuning and it seems the technical capability too is improved.
      The LCD-4 is better for the bass but needs EQ and EQ brings problems with imaging and others.
      The Utopia is very revealing in the upper midrange and does depth the best and has a really good slam in the upper bass frequencies

    Which of the flagships that you've listed to, do you like with very transparent SS gear? I have a benchmark DAC3B + HPA4 as my main system. Kinda leaning toward ZMF headphones as my next upgrade. I think I like a slightly darker / warmer presentation.

    • @BelieveHiFi
      @BelieveHiFi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      the Arya was a fantastic pairing for me on very transparent SS gear. This D8k pro could come across a little too dry and sterile BUT it would present crazy detail.
      ZMF is a good option I do love all their headphones however I really think they do sound best on Tubes. You would maybe go for the bigger pads as that tends to soften the sound a little.
      What music do you mainly listen to and what exactly do you want out of this headphone?

    • @jrg5948
      @jrg5948 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @BelieveHiFi
      @BelieveHiFi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jrg5948 well I think you could stack the A90 with a chord Qutest. Should synergize well. the a90 leans slightly warm and euphonic whilst the Qutest is right down the line. In this stack your DAC will be the hero.
      The Burson conductor is a great budget all in one. But the stacks at your budget will serve you much better.
      Ill give you 3 pathways
      1) if you want a more euphoric sound the Woo audio WA2 will add soundstage, warmth, richness and really make them sound sweet.
      2) Feliks audio Elise is another great amp at arround 1.5k that is a tube but it is almost solid state sounding
      3) for solid state I would look at the Violectric V280 or the headamp GSX mini. Violectric is slightly warmer the GSX mini has slightly more slam
      The best DAC to combine with those 3 amps for your budget is probably the Denafrips Ares II

    Would the D8000 pro pair well with the DCS BArtok dac and headphone amp?

    • @BelieveHiFi
      @BelieveHiFi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      should be perfect.
      The DCS has quite a round sound to it and isnt too sharp so they should compliment each other very well. Although for that price you could go for a Bricasti M3H paired with the Pathos inpol ear which I think is better combination for strictly headphone listening

      I would say so IF, big IF, you have very very good equipment feeding them and prefferably a tube amp too as they can be a little dry.
      If you do not wat to spend crazy $$$ on Amps and DAcs I would probably go with the Verite or Verite Closed for a dynamic otherwise the Arya for a planar
