Intense Battle Between Newborn Cheetah and Newborn Buck

  • This is the moment Cheetah cubs take on baby buck!
    The 37-year old tour guide, Francis Kijazi tells us about his absolute immaculate sighting. They were very fortunate to witness a female cheetah and her four 2-month old cubs take down Grant's gazelle.
    "This incredible latest sighting happened during an evening game drive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, bordering Southern Serengeti plains in Tanzania. We spotted this female cheetah with 4 small cubs - possibly two months old. We stayed with them for some time and the Mom seemed to be on the lookout for just a snack. Seeing that they had eaten properly the day prior."
    "By chance, a baby Grant's gazelle happen to stroll past, obviously in search of its mother. This baby came across another baby and decided to lie down for a break."
    From the footage, it is clear that both these gazelle are but a day or so old, as one can see they struggle to maneuver around, as well as the presence of their umbilical cords still well-attached to the stomachs.
    When Mom decides to investigate
    "Of course, the Cheetah mom noticed the whole thing and started stalking towards them. However, she found the baby gazelles so weak, enough for her cubs to play with. Thus she did not kill the gazelles just yet, instead, she called her babies to take part in a hunting lesson."
    At first, the youngsters are somewhat unsure, but then one takes the lead and they all seem to rely on their instinct almost immediately. Nature really is an incredible wonder which never ceases to surprise humankind.
    The gazelles do try to put up a wee bit of a fight, but ultimately Mom decided to take one for the family and of course, the cubs are ecstatic! One gazelle ultimately does manage to get away though, leaving the cheetahs somewhat confused.
    Francis tells that this was his first time in 12 years to ever witness cheetah cubs of this size and age, to actually attempt hunting. Generally one would see it from an age of 5-8 months old.
    Nature can be cruel, but all creatures fight to survive
    "It may seem impossible and heart-breaking, but one should never interfere with what might be playing out in nature. For instance, trying to rescue the baby gazelle from what may seem brutal in the human eye. Therefore, instead, sit quietly and observe and enjoy the very rare behavior, because it also comes down to the survival of the Cheetah population in the African bush."

You fight and struggle for dear life, tapped into your fighting instinct and fought back. The danger retreats, you’ve gained a temporary reprieve. At the same time, your observation is explained by the very events of the video. These unfortunate creatures are born to a world where predators are permanently awaiting for them: they're prey since the moment they're born, or even before, while into their mother's womb. So, to improve their chances of survival, they're born as prepared as possible to run away from such dangers. Some times it's not enough, like in this case.

    • @megadracosaurus

      That's actually debated tbf. Its something people often say, but there's not really solid evidence for it. The coloration maybe fool aerial predators better, but it seems much less effective on ground-based predators. Not to mention that, despite the hype and cherrypicked videos surrounding honey badgers, they're actually not that great at directly dealing with larger predators. For every video of a honey badger 'beating' a lion or leopard, there's dozens more instances of them actively avoiding them, or even outright being killed.
      So disguising themselves as honey badgers seems not actually be true. There is another theory its meant to keep them warm, or its meant to mimic grass. No theory has been tested and proven thus far though. But despite its popularity, the honey badger theory seems very unlikely.

    • @Darknimbus3
      @Darknimbus3 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@megadracosaurusThey’re better for dealing with larger predators than you give credit. One of the biggest reasons why larger predators hate messing with honey badgers is because they have very loose skin. This not only makes it much harder for a predator to land a killing blow, but it also allows for the honey badger to turn and give a painful bite while the predator has it in its grips, even by the neck.

    • @megadracosaurus
      @megadracosaurus 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Darknimbus3 Didn’t see they’re helpless. But they’re not ‘owning’ anything either. Actual sciencetific research regarding honey badgers shows that if the badger can’t get away and the predator is determined, that badger is dead. Lions, leopards and spotted hyenas have all been known to kill them pretty frequently if the badger can’t get away. In a way, it’s similiar to wolverines. Everyone hypes up wolverines for ‘beating’ wolves and bears. But actual sciencetific research has found that wolverines are far more likely to get killed by them instead.

    Maybe I’m the weird one, but I think predators have it a lot worse than prey animals. Prey animals outnumber predators at least 100 to 1 and even when they’re being chased, predators are only successful maybe one out of every 6 to 10 times so their odds of being the one who is caught is very slim. Predators on the other hand have to search and chase their food every day and when they catch up to it there’s always a chance that they might be injured or killed by their food and on top of that, when they finally catch something to eat, it still could be taken by another predator. Food is always readily available for prey animals, on the other hand. I get great joy in seeing a predator make a successful kill. They gotta eat too. Sure it’s bad for the one that got caught but the species will live on.

    sucks that those little cheetahs are born instinctually to kill other creatures.
    Just a flawed animal by design.
    Poor buck woulda just lived and chewed grass all its life without hurting nobody

      Evolution pressure, no one want mess with honey badger ~~

      @@razer0072073 Very simple resum: No one want mess with honey badger, so anything that looks like honey badger have less chance to be attacked by predator, so if one day a cheetah baby did look a little like honey badger from random evolution, it will have more chance to survive and reproduce, ect, ect untill now.
