I bought my husband a 1962 white with the red interior for our 50th wedding anniversary.. I think he likes it!!
My parents had one, black with red interior. Got my license Summer of 1963, loved putting down all the windows and cruising around. Beautiful car, wonderful memories. Ahhh.
I had one also, red..283..trade it in for a 1963 impala SS..327..

My husband still owns his first car. 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible in original, mint condition. It is mint green, dark green carpet and white convertible top. He is the second owner.

I had 2 1962 Chevys in 1982 I from Los Angeles and if you no about growing. Up in LA that means lowrider s I also had 1963. 65 67 68 loved those cars
Yeh...I remember in 62 you could order this with optional dual slanted antennas on the trunk along with fender skirts. I was no where near old enough to drive but I was a car nut even back then. We had such cool cars then and yes I even knew they were cool then.
The ultimate Impala SS. As a kid a family friend had a black one with red interior and a 283 engine. Beautiful!

As a kid in 67 my uncle and his family and my aunt and her family and our family went boating on this lake, well they all owned white super sport’s, 63, 64, and Dad’s was a 65. What a sight! 63 was my favorite.
I had a 62 Chevy Impala white over red 327 auto back in 68-70...thanks for the trip down memory lane...😢
My first car was a blue 62 Impala back in 1968 when I first started work after high school.
That was my beauty in 1967 when I cam home from Nam. My friends restored my old car while I was overseas in combat.
Awesome, these were REAL CARS. not the expensive crap full of computers WE HAVE TODAY. Cars were meant to look great, fun to drive, not to be a home theater! If ya don't know where your going buy a map. AMERICAN MADE. You didn't get a hernia sitting in the back seat. Beautiful restoration, thanks for sharing.

Beautiful!! Had one just like it back in the day. Hubby was in auto body n painted it black, how I loved driving n shifting that car going out to the country. Wish I would of kept it 😁
A nice 1962 Chevy. The 62 Ford Galaxie XL looks tame by comparison. I often wonder how Ford was able to sell as many cars as they did, especially when you look at this Impala SS.
Back in the early 60's one of my friends bought a brand new Chevy 409 I think with four on the floor. Man that car pushed my insides against the seat when it took off. I was something to experience.

I remember back in 1962, my cousin bought a new 1962 Chevy Impala, I don't recall if it was an SS? The color was gold I guess? I was only 7 years old at the time.
Two years later, My other cousin (His kid Brother) purchased a 1964 Mustang. Awesome!!! That cousin (Ernie) went to Villanova with singer songwriter Jim Croce.
I don't know if they knew each other. I just found out they went there the same time in the middle 60's. Sorry to veer off track..🙏🏿

OMG! Watching this is Soooooo bittersweet! The '62 SS was my car in HS! Also white but w/beautiful blue interior and factory air! Had the 327 in it! Sold it back in '74 for '$500.oo! The idiot I sold it to totaled it within a couple months! Sick! Man I miss that car!

very nice car, when you shut the door and the trunk , the sound that i heard was wonderful no rust at all, i can tell you, if there is any rust the sound will be different than that.

This was my car in 1965. I bought it with my savings after coming back from Nam. It had 5000 miles on it, when I took ownership. I-sent a photo as I was standing by it, to my girlfriend overseas. She asked me if I was a gangster.
It's a shame that such a beautiful car sounds like a freakin TANK!!!

Factory sun tachometer was a added feature installed on the 63 impala 409
In 62 they were a option that could be dealer installed.
Perhaps this vehicle did not have one.

Boy Jay, you just keep pulling the rabbits out of your hat. This is quite a '62 to say the least. As to the 409's, weren't there two horse-power options for this engine? Also, does this '62 have a posi rear? Whether it does or doesn't, what gears does it have? Thanks.

I bought a 62 Impala 283 sport coupe used in 67 with 40k miles. It was a nice riding car especially on the highway. Starting in the early 60’s GM started to make much better cars.

Heey! That was my first car. $2,800. Had it for six years. Sold it for $1,000 so the cost was $300/yr. some sob stole my hubcaps.

9:06 Jay likes the way Car Doors close so easy. There is a Wells Fargo Bank in Oakland, CA. Inside is a Safe Deposit Box Room. The Vault Door is about 3 Feet Thick x 8 Feet Wide, wider on the outside and tapers in steps towards the inside, has 5-6 inch diameter bolts that go from the door into the casing. The Door Casing is similar in size and shape. It probably weighs about 5,000-10,000 pounds. Probably takes some effort to get it moving, but it's probably very well balanced so there is little drag. If you like how Car Doors close, it's a master piece for Doors.

They definitely did not make that much noise in 1962. Otherwise beautiful restoration.
Correct, factory stock had quiet mufflers. The only clues of the 409 residing under the hood were the 4_0_9 emblems & solid lifter clatter.

Not a smooth idle. Maybe an oversize Cam? Mufflers sound terrible. The original 1962 SS did not sound like this, they had a small rumble. I was around back then. The Car is stunning in every other way.
Can never decide which body style I like best - ‘62, ‘63, or ‘64……..🤔

Nothing on the data plate indicates SS. That didn't happen until 1965 Impala.
