Chevrolet, in particular, DID NOT 'switch from a bubbletop' in 1962. Specifically, the Bel Air is perhaps the most well-remembered "bubbletop" of ALL time! Numerous famous drag racers & circle track drivers campaigned bubbletop Bel Airs' to a plethora of notable wins in their respective fields behind the wheel of a bubbletop '62! The drawbacks of these era Chevy's were their 2-piece driveshafts & weak brakes of the time. I owned & drove examples of both the Bel Air & Impala hardtop models & lament their loss to this day. Both of these 62s were 3-on-the-tree Chevy's & the Bel Air was blessed overdrive as well.....Ohhhhh to own them both again! Aside from the "numbers game", the quick'n easy identifier of a 300-horse 327 would be the raised cast camel-humps on the front face of the cylinder heads, whereas the 250hp version displayed a peaked, pointed casting.
In a little bit of beer
