  • This is one of those stories worth taking your time to watch. We've heard a lot about how China is slowing, while investors are pivoting to India. But what do you think about this decades long journey these two emerging superpowers have taken?
Hats of to Anton Golub who inspired this story.

One of the difference between Indian people and Chinese people is, Chinese really don’t care about their rank, or you agree or not, or how the world think about them…… if they can choose they would prefer the world not recognize their growth, so they can growth peacefully and quietly without being noticed. Their goal is not set to satisfy the world or gain recognition from the world, but to make their lives better and happier.

The statistics available in the public domain does point out for the first 30 years of 1960 to 1990 India and China GDP were on par with each other. The two only started to drift apart from 1990 onward. India has increased its GDP same as its previous 30 years but China is the one who took off.
China could have been able to move faster in the 1960 to 1990 but from 1950 to 1971 China was economic blockaded by the US after the Korean war. US as the victor of WW2 made sure no country could trade with China. In 1971 the third world countries formed a majority in UN to pass the resolution to replace the US-backed Taiwan , with population less than 24 million, with mainland China, that has 1,400 million population, as the legal representative of the Chinese people. China was then able to trade with the outside. Seeing China was about to open up US president Nixon immediately changed policy and visited China in 1972 to be the first one dominating the huge Chinese consumer market. China joined WTO in 2001. Once China could trade with the rest of the world it develops to what it is today.
India aspires to be a western democracy so it proceeds economically at the same speed of the west.

India should not practice Western democracy. This system is not suitable for developing countries, such as India. Multi-party competition and fierce parliamentary fighting will make it impossible to implement national policies and seriously affect national development. No developing country in the world has successfully implemented Western democracy. The reason why China has been able to develop rapidly is because it rejected the Western democratic system, which enabled China to implement correct national policies. China is not a dictatorship. China's national policies are collectively planned by think tanks and are not decided by the president alone. As long as the policies are beneficial to the country, China will be able to implement them smoothly without any opposition parties standing in the way.

I am Chinese. In 1989, China defeated the West's color revolution, which is often referred to as the Tiananmen Movement in the West. In 1990, it suffered comprehensive sanctions from the West, and its relationship with the Soviet Union was not good. In 1992, China determined a path centered on economic construction. To put it simply, this path means not to talk about politics, not to talk about taking the socialist road of the Soviet Union or the capitalist road of the United States, but only to talk about developing the economy, and do whatever can be done to develop the economy. As Deng Xiaoping said, "No matter whether it is a white cat or a black cat, it is a good cat if it catches mice." Since then, China's economy has developed rapidly.

In fact, since 1950s, China has been reorganizing and optimizing its assets at the national level, and terminated the premature capitalization and marketization of assets, which reduced variables and interference in the process of asset reorganization, which enabled China to prepare enough reserves for a historic leap and change after it resumed capitalization in 1990s. There is no magic or trick to get an economic rocket out of thin air. You must build a rocket engine first. What happened in the 1990 s and made the outside world curious was often only the moment when the rocket engine was ignited, which was only one-sided.

People are overestimating the damage this real estate bubble is doing to China. If anything, it'll encourage Chinese to stop overinvesting in real estate and instead invest in technology. That's where they want to be. And to top it off, with US sanctions and hostility, the timing is good because Chinese will invest in Chinese companies instead of American ones.
The problem in India right now is that Indians are too tied to the US. The very minute most Indians are wealthy enough, they want to invest in the USA instead of their own country. I see wealthy Sharmas bringing their entire families here and investing in American neighbourhoods and companies. I want India to do well, I really do. The biggest difference between China is not the economic, it’s massive literacy level that can sustain a massive skilled workforce that is a corner stone of our industry. The way the west keeps India down is to absorb the most capable and brilliant people form India and leave the most uneducated people in the country. Unless india government committing educating Indian people so they can build anything they need without the west, India will never surpass China or any western country. The professional official system that China has used for more than a thousand years may have more influence than the political system. The Chinese run their own country like a company. You have to start as a junior employee. When you perform well, you will be promoted until you become a manager of the country. And when you perform poorly, you will be challenged or even fired. As long as this feedback system works well, the country can maintain rapid development.

@@Joseph-cf2wdNehru to Rajiv rule completely destroyed development through Socialism. Vajpayee's reforms combined with 1991 liberalisation made India grow so fast. But during the Manmohan Singh rule inflation reached all time highs, due to their big spending.
BJP governments have kept inflation low, even the corona caused inflation is lower than the inflation under Manmohan.
This graph doesn't show the whole picture, for one the Chinese overreport their GDP for sure, and the currency conversion to dollars makes the Indian economy seem extremely small. Compared in the PPP method India's economy is slightly less than half the size of the Chinese economy

Since communist liberation of China in 1949, China's GDP has always been more than India's, because most of the products and services were given out free to the people, those didn't have monentary values attached to them so they weren't counted as GDP.

There was no monetary cost because everything was done without involving money under communism. People were given all the necessities free without involvement with any monetary cost. Generally China since Opium war and for 100 years always living in absolute catasthropic condition, The Century of Humiliation is No Joke, Since Opium War defeated China, Qing Dynasty embroiled huge massive civil war that Killing 50-60 Milion in total, Combining Famine and Flood killing Milion Again, And then added boxer rebellion & 1911 Revolution into Republic, Even for Republic from 1911 until 1937 its embroiled with Civil War,Warlord and Insane Disaster that already killed Milion again,
And then, Japanese Invade China by actually genocide and butchering 30 Milion Chinese and Displaced 95 Milion Chinese for 8 years causing countless city destroyed and damage,
And then after Japanese surrender Civil War broke out ended PRC Victory by Mao, Under Mao at first China experienced rapid re building and recovery on 1950-1960, When Milions again died after Mao Miscalculation and Mao launch Brutal Cultural Revolution.. That actually change chinese society,
China by 1950 despite re building, Its absolutely still utter ruin compared India,
And China reemerged under Deng Xiaoping and surpassing India all in 1990s
