The place where you introduced the major 3rd seems like a logical place to do so because the melody lends itself to a brighter feeling. To me, the change is smooth because it’s happening in the dominant 5th of the key. I’m rusty on musical terms; it sounds like you began in D Minor, then the change happens in the A or 5th note of the D minor scale. I hope I’m being clear! What you played sounds pretty seamless to me.

You were close! I began in c minor then to C major
