I know this is a reupload from the main channel, but it would be nice to point out that red and green buoys are swapped depending where you are in the world (regions A or B). It would be nice to also see a video showing why things are this way today and not totally standardized
Curious that is. I can’t speak for anywhere else but routes going inland or away from the ocean the stbd buoy is red. We use “Red, Right, Returning” to memorize it.... or I guess another way to put it is the direction of buoyage is out to sea. Edit: Here is in the Salish Sea.

And of course reversed whether you are heading into or out of a harbour or port .. heading out it is reversed also ... port to starboard

What is the difference between general direction of bouyage system and Local direction of voyage system
