Your candor is what always brings me back to watch your videos. Even the openness about your chair and your desk not breaking yet is a breathe of fresh air. Enjoyed the raw feeling of this as well.
No lie, you are truly iconic. You've really made your mark as one of the top new photographers of our generation and you're techincally a youtuber, but i would never think to call you that, most people who do youtube; are only youtubers. You are an iconic photographer
As a photography hobbyist, home/room tour enthusiast, and organizational neat freak, this video checked all my boxes 😄 Can’t wait to hear more about your upcoming photo book!
Willem I'm so happy when you post a new video!! Just motivates me to continue shooting film. And it's especially the way you shoot that inspires me to continue, because I live in a boring neighbourhood, and seeing you photograph the same things that I do, like residential boring neighbourhoods, and the fact that you make them look so good, just inspires me to find these interesting compositions, lighting situations, and colours, all in a super boring location. Big thanks man!!! 👍🏻
Always love studio tours...to see the space used by great photographers make their magic. Thank you for sharing. And as others have said...love your candor...and your awesome photos.
Hi Thank you for putting this video together. Sone good ideas to borrow. Also, I’m so impressed by your ability to move past the frustration of off-the-shelf solutions and simply build your own table. Super cool.
12:30 That is a film that was used in graphic design and printing, back when graphic design was done on sheets of celluloid. My dad used to do that for a living.
I love your videos man, I love the peace with which you transmit things. You should make a video about what you work on and how you afford everything and where you buy it. thanks man, with your videos I learn English!!!!!
You can get an adapter to connect the VHS camera to your computer, basically the camera just plays the footage back as if it was plugged into a TV. Then just use screen recording software and you're done!! Probably not the most high res solution but it works!
I just label my envelope from FW Photolab with my negatives on it and stash them to my baskets of films. lol I am rewatching your latest videos. You are still the greatest out there. I kinda gave some not so good review of your photobook on my webpage but I could say you are the original and inspired me so much to go out there and shoot and shoot night photography. Willem, you are great!!
What's going to be incredible, is that all these things will be found in the future by another film aficionado and will be appreciated as a treasure. (Hopefully)
Hi - the big yellow film box you held up may have contained a plastic film called Kodalith. Modality can be used to make a pig photographic transparency for creating Gum bichromate (or dichromate) prints. Check that process out.
Thanks for sharing this, so envious of that space. I'm a fellow photographer and bookbinder, I mostly do photobooks and artist books for other people, it is a great feeling. Your work is always amazing, hope to see that book soon. Cheers from Peru
if you wanna go hella ergonomic with your chair, a herman miller sayl stool could work! you can usually find some for half retail on craigslist, ebay, etc
Such a calm and relaxing atmosphere, the only thing that kinda sticks out is the "gaming" keyboard would have preferred a more subtle one. But that's just my opinion.
Another great vid, Willem! The studio looks great. PoOne quick question: What are you scanning negatives with these days, now that the V600 has been repurposed?
Just to point out the sun glare on the computer may be hindering the presence of the photographs on screen due to that computer orientation relative to the window. Good for you for building that desk though, looks great in the space!
That's a really well organized room. What is the attraction of a darkroom and film in this day and age? I did darkroom work for twenty years and was so happy when digital cameras got better and my photo editing software became better than anything I could possibly do in a darkroom. I gladly tossed all that stuff in the trash because, during the time I threw it out around 2000 it was literally impossible to even get $10 for everything in my darkroom put together! Why do you even want to take the time doing it the old fashioned way? I don't see how it even comes close to the capabilities of digital systems.
Your candor is what always brings me back to watch your videos. Even the openness about your chair and your desk not breaking yet is a breathe of fresh air. Enjoyed the raw feeling of this as well.
Thank you Bryan!
i agree 100%
I think it would be dope if you did a livestream once a month where people can ask you questions and you could invite some photography friends over!

Big fan of the homemade desk, looks so good floating in the room. A good work is so important. Thanks for the tour!

Finally we’re back in business, it’s a good day with a Willem video 🙌
Nice tour, thank you for showing your creative space! I can listen to you rambling all day
“this vhs camera looks super weird retro.” that one stung
Honestly all I could think about was how bad that stool must be for your back so I’m glad you addressed it, people care about your stool!

Thanks for sharing Willem! Wish you a lot of productive work in your studio!
this brings me so much joy! i have a 35mm enlarger and don't have the space currently to set it up but one day i will and that's enough for me
ha! one of the first things I noticed was the chair! glad you are thinking about changing it!
I just label my envelope from FW Photolab with my negatives on it and stash them to my baskets of films. lol I am rewatching your latest videos. You are still the greatest out there. Hey Willem, love your studio man, what’s the reference for that Fuji processing equipment? Can’t seem to find it on google, take care brother
I’m always on time for class 😤
that’s pretty much how i built my desk, cost next to nothing - but it’s worth so much more to me and wayyy better
Really nice job with the custom furniture. Exciting news about the new book!
Thank you Bob!

I actually did the exact same thing with my half bath door. Works amazingly. Good video.

From beats to audio technica what an upgrade
Hi Willem - quick question. What scanner do you use to scan your photo prints? Is there any model you would reccomend?
I had no idea you were such a talented carpenter.
This office looks like such a Nice place to work, custom table also so cool!
Bro, as soon as I saw that chair I was like "that looks so uncomfortable." I totally care about your chair situation and posture!

Love this space so much. Definitely gave me some ideas for mine at home. Also at 17:31 I think I saw a ghost.
I’m so excited for the new photography book woahhh and the film room is so well organized!
The vhs camcorder! HDMI capture card $10, hdmi to RCA adaptor $10 both on amazon!
Such a calm and relaxing atmosphere, the only thing that kinda sticks out is the "gaming" keyboard would have preferred a more subtle one. But that's just my opinion.
am i the only one who found this so soothing?
oh im not the only one. okay
The legend is BACK
I have some of those big film boxes too, mine are either X-ray film or blue print film.
I’m so jealous, I just set up a darkroom in my like 40sq feet bathroom.
This gives me the early Casey Neistat studio tour vibes, I like it!!
Another great vid, Willem! The studio looks great. PoOne quick question: What are you scanning negatives with these days, now that the V600 has been repurposed?
Huge inspiration to create and have a space to work at
love the new space, can't wait to see what's next to come!
Ah this is such an awesome space. Love the table!
It would be awesome to see a live stream of a darkroom printing session
that chair is most useful when you need to step on it to grab the camcorder off the shelf
Wonderful use of space. I enjoyed the tour!
Cant wait for the book! Hype up!
Itll never be perfect... setting up the paper processor in front of the breaker box is classic!!!
I would live in your studio Willem
All you need now is a Hasselblad scanner, and an Eizo monitor!
Love the new studio!
the plywood is as big of a flex as the mamiya 7 right now

Awesome space. Glad you shared.
