Yeah I remember when it came out at first people called it “Dank Destroyer” and then once it got so insanely expensive it changed to “Bank Destroyer” 😅
Before he tried to pend on game 2 that magical abductor had 3 counters. Could have tag for dark destroyer, pop itself, bring slip rider and pop the abductor

Same here. I've only played dueling network as there's no locals in my place, and stopped playing during early pend era. I returned january 2022 thanks to master duel and I actually started to buy physical cards
Tempest triggers ships after resolution because it destroys not to mention dark destroyer can pop himself to float into any kozmo in the deck these 2 interactions alone make this match up really hard for majispecter to win but they just weren't aware of these interactions but they can't be expected to know everything still super interesting
0:34 as someone who has been in the game since 2003, i have gotten to experience basically every format the game has had. and i gotta say, these history of yugimons vids are always fun to watch, since you guys go over some of the best, most fun formats the game has ever seen (not all the time. sometimes you guys have to obviously go over terrible ones like nekorz/d rulers/dads/etc.). my fav format is honestly 2014 hat format. hat to this day is my second fav deck, and my fav deck, infernity was also pretty good during this format, along with my third fav, mermail. so honestly, it was such a awesome format.
HAT really is the best format imo. As someone who started playing Yugioh in 2020, I find HAT to be the perfect in between of old and new Yugioh, and were it not for exactly Vanity’s and Maxx C I feel would be more popular than something like Edison (Goat has and will always be its own beast with a player base who prefer old Yugioh).
@@polemeisterseven2443 to be fair, vanity's is an extrmely old card that came out back in 5ds (2010), but wouldnt see mainstream use till duelist alliance format onward (which is why it remained at 3 for like 5-6 years). it saw slight use in patrick hoban's sylvans list from nats in 2014, but thats about it for its use before duelist alliance (there was like 1 or two lists that sided it back in edison as well. but players didnt think it was a good card till DUEA). so it took a looooong time for vanity's to actually be used. as for maxx c. maxx c, honestly, was not even considered good in hat format. since basically every deck (including combo decks like infernity), ran a feck ton of traps in the main board, so the most your opponent got was a upstart goblin from it, and then you set like 3-5 cards, to protect yourself from your opponent (not to mention, the deck the format is named after, never special summoned at all unless going for dionea, or resolving an artifact or a hand. also the fact it played a ton of high value traps, led to maxx c being entirely garbage in the match up). so most people just sided it, or didnt even run it at all at the time (which sounds crazy saying, because just one format later it would become an automatic main deck staple at 3, and the same for vanity's as well, with it becoming an automatic main deck staple at 3 just after hat format xD) also, maxx c originally came out 2011. both cards are insanely old, before they actually see any main stream use.
@@haruhirogrimgar6047 well keep in mind that at this point both decks are extremely nerfed down by BANLIST. For example gunde, goons, tidal, and a couple other big pieces are at 1. While for infernity, Thier end board is just beetle, archfiend, barrier and a break. Do to Trish being banned, and launcher at 1. Infernity is arguable only like the 10th best deck that format (barring worlds format were literally most other decks are slaughtered leaving it far and away the best and practically only contender). And mermail is arguable only the 8th best deck that format. There's also fire fist, lights worn, a lot of d ruler variants as well (such as lights worn rulers), there's sylvans (this would turn out to be the best combo deck that format by far, but wouldn't be seen till nats do to those onto it keeping silent about it) there's also madolche in the format. The two best decks though for much of the format were hat and geargia.
I remember this list so well, I remember the hit to Construct rubbed me the wrong way, I didn't even play Shaddoll but it seemed really dumb considering Shaddoll was pretty much being power crept right before our eyes, it felt like they only hit the deck because a lot of players would have stuck with it if it was even a slight contender in the meta game and they wanted to force new product rather than the hit being necessary for the health of the game.
That's the Konami way! Release a broken card that warps the meta. Refuse to ban it despite player uproar so that they can keep selling product. Months go by and the card gradually gets power crept out of the format. Then finally ban it when it's no longer a problem.
I remember being on the Yugioh Card Maker Forums at the time when this list dropped, and so many members were baffled at how blatant and destructive the list was. Like, there's been bad ban lists before, but this sticks out to me as the most blatant "You will play our new product and NOTHING ELSE" list Konami has ever made.
The thing about consistency draws is the more of them you put in, the deeper you have to dig to get to something actually playable, and you're also left with less room for blowout cards. Though as high consistency decks like Swordsoul have proven time and again, you don't need a high ceiling as long as your floor is competant and your gameplay is on point(and your sidedeck is full of hard counters).

16:50 Okay, this turn. I want to talk about the logic behind this turn. He doesn't use Farmgirl because it's vulnerable. (Okay, I guess. Seems like Kozmo should be aggro in this matchup but sure.) But then, post-battle, he shuffles it away, seemingly no longer concerned with preserving the Farmgirl. (Farmgirl is Farmgirl but a draw could be anything, it could even be Farmgirl) Why would you value the Famgirl highly pre-combat, but yeet it away post-combat? Wouldn't doing it pre-combat be better so you could alter your plays? This is a really good example of making decisions as they come I will say that I do not know how to play Kozmo and am merely commenting on the logic behind the play, not the play itself.
He just needs to go 2nd. This is not modern pend deck that combo with million negates turn 1. Best Joseph can do turn 1 probably summon a Majespecter and set the trap, he can summon a lot of pend monsters but they don't do anything. Cimo can apply presure and push for games with all those e-teles
RML game was very cool. I think Cimooooo is a pretty good duelist, and his decision to hold was disciplined. The explanation you two gave was easy to understand too. Sometimes people call Exodia the barometer for Yugioh card draw but it’s RML to me. Whenever RML is crazy good, something somewhere is letting you do too much, but seeing it enable a cool deck like Majespector made my night.
None of those Psychic Kozmos should've been destroyed by tempest. They would've already banished themselves for their own cost at that point. Also, as has already been said numerous times in the comments, you can't use Luster Pendulum for non-Dracoslayer ED summons.
You know what's funny, Cimooo actually doesn't take away from his life points for Kozmotown because it deals damage to the player by 100 per level, it's not a payment cost, which means if Chicken Game is up and his life points are lower, he gets to add the card for free basically.
Weird editing fumble around 25:05 or so. MBT says he's thinking on a target while Cimoooooooo says he's thinking about going into Dark Destroyer but we never get to hear the Wavering Eyes target from MBT, the card just pop ups in his hand. Seeing Royal Magical Library in a deck that isn't Exodia is just so bloody cool and really makes me wish that I played during this era, even if I still absolutely loath most Pendulum decks. I do really wish that majespeters got something to replace Kirin. The idea of every monster being untargetible and indestructible is incredibly strong, but the fact that all the removal traps require you to tribute said powerful monsters makes the deck a bit too fair for modern Yugioh. A boss monster would do a lot to shore up the decks weaknesses, especially in longer games where getting to link monsters isn't always guaranteed. If Kirin ever gets off the banlist, it'd probably be because it got an errata to make it better locked into its archetype
10:34 I disagree even honest is pretty great since you can bounce it back to the hand which means even in this scenario you dont lose card advantage, you just give your opponent informtion that you have honest, which while not great isn't bad
I’m surprised that Royal Magical Library was never banned. I think it might’ve been limited at one point but never banned. Whenever it’s used in a deck nothing good comes of it.
While I agree the card has only really been used in degenerate decks, this is arguably the most playable the card has been. Most decks it’s played in are pretty bad tbh. The combination of upstart chicken game terraforming and pendulum monsters make the card usable without really relying on engines that r potentially worthless without rml. And even by this point u have cards like effect veiler fiendish chain forbidden chalice that outright counter rml’s deep draw potential
@@ryansanagustin6553 The Goat Format RML deck is busted in Goat Format though. Any combo deck that combos with Giant Trunade is broken in that format, especially if it doesn't need to attack for game.
Ignister prominence is such a bonkers card. Why is it a soft once per turn? It always has the pop live since it summons from turn. Even with it and lister at 1 u can play dracoverlord and make the fusion or xyz. It’s such a stupid boss monster and while not targeting non destructive removal is still good today, it’s ridiculous on top of MR3 pendulum. This is the reason why MR4 had to just kill the mechanic because Konami made a huge mistake.
I do hear you when you look at things like this in a vacuum and think the entire mechanic needed to go, but Pendulum AS A WHOLE didn't do much during MR3 outside of a handful of decks. Banning a handful of cards would have been just as impactful. It would be like saying, All special summons from any location needs to go down to 1 because these few meta decks abuse infinite special summons.
@@TsuikeNovaus Yeah, I think I agree if I'm reading your point correctly. They didn't balance or nerf pendulum cards with the MR change, they killed them. Pendulum cards have to be printed with some of the best effects you could ever imagine now to even be competitive. It's a shame to me. I think the original pendulum mechanic is less destructive to the health of the game than links. Links abuse tokens, aren't restricted to once per turn, & have led to several FTK's & pseudo FTK strats due to often being completely generic.
@@kaikawasumi I agree when it comes to links vs pendulum, since at least pendulum is like an archetype where you have to build a specific deck. Pend is best deck tho! JK… it’s just if Konami did the MR5 thing with the extra deck in the beginning the mess could’ve been avoided since they wouldn’t have to make all the busted link VRAINS pack cards.
@@TsuikeNovaus sure at the beginning pendulum wasn’t broken but after Qli it was always meta after people realised u can slap your whole board back when it’s destroyed. Even after PEPE was emergency banned dracopals was good, metalfoes was becoming meta after that. I loved it too and am sad it’s been butchered but it woukdve just gotten even worse over time. Even during MR4 with electromyte it was still meta.
@@Ruby_Mullz Qli really wasn't meta because it was a pendulum deck, it abused floodgates, had one of the best boss monsters ever printed and had an insane searcher and draw power. It was a powerful deck that had access to the pendulum mechanic, which is different from a deck that is powerful because it's a pendulum deck. Going back to the rest of the comment, after qlis(which wasn't even the best deck, but was part of a triangle format with a fusion deck and an xyz deck) there was a long time in pendulum format when Nekroz owned the meta, soon afterwards Kosmo owned the format, there was a brief intermission where Pepe was good into dracopals, but then decks like Monarchs/Blue Eyes/Zodiac/Spyral/Dracoslayers began to own the format. Pendulums really weren't all that good during MR3. Freaking blue eyes won worlds. Even MR4 Pendulum Magicians wasn't good because it was a pendulum deck, because most of it's special summoning wasn't the pend summon, but was other summons from the hand and deck, it was just a REALLY REALLY good control deck.
During this format, i hated it. Now i kinda miss this format. Lol i had just got back into the game at the time, and i decided i really enjoyed playing the first incarnation of D/D/Ds!!! Lol
Game 2 question: Was there a reason for Alex to not activate Wickedwitch in response and tag into Dark Destroyer when Joseph tried to shuffle it into the deck with Ignister Prominence?
It just hit me that Dark Destroyer released on the same week as YCS Dallas in November. And then not even 4 days later everything else was banned away. My curiosity is beyond peaked regarding what the meta would have looked like had the internet been able to brew around Kozmos?!?!? Like Nekroz still had tools, B.A. could have adapted. We were stripped of a hypothetical brewing dreamscape by a misstimed banlist

This was about back when I got into the game proper. Before this I would just play caveman Yugioh with my friends or play the video games. This was the first time I played real decks against other real decks and I'm getting so nostalgic for it
It's funny when you realize Madolche could smoke Dark Destroyer with Tiaramisu, but it was rarely brought up even though Pepe could play just about anything with it.
Hell yeah, the format I joined the game in after like 10 years of absence. Brings back memories, I was on Performage Majespecters like MBT and staring down Dark Destroyer was always a fucking delight

I never played Majespecter, but I did play 3-ofs of both Kirin and Eccentrick in PSY-Frames. Their scales make them both pendulum summonable, and their effects clear them from your own field after popping/bouncing opponent's cards, leaving you free to then use PSY-Frame cards from your hand. Every turn...
I don't think these deck lists are an accurate representation of the meta at the time. They are from YCS San Jose which took place in between the release of DOCS and right before the new banlist. This format would only be relevant for a single weekend (kind of like Edison format when you think about it).
31 card deck? That's bricky as fuck, what you were meant to do is ALSO play Pseudospace and run a 28 card deck! No really people in the circles I frequented at the time said this. They also said Kozmo was just a fluke and really only a tier 2, if not tier 3, to cope with the price of those Dark Destroyers.

1. We need a history of Tier 0. Can you do a video covering the tier 0 formats? ex. Tele-dad vs Zoodiac or Nekroz vs PePe. 2. Can you do a game of modern Yu-Gi-Oh with everything at 3? I don't think some cards are as busted as people think! 3. Can you bring back Sealed Saturdays?
People keep asking for a history of tier 0 but history of yugioh already covers that in the best way it could. Doing something like Tele Dad vs Zoo is just going to result in lopsided matches with the more modern deck have a big clear advantage most of the time.
@@insanemakaioshin So you want a format filled with decks trying to win on the first turn and also decks that don't want you to play at all with their Imperial Order, Royal Oppression and other floodgate cards?

If Joseph plays Kozmo, then I want to see sleeves with Kramer from Seinfeld
Kozmo is one of my favorite decks
When I die my son will get my Kozmo Deck. I hope he will experience new support.
I’m surprised that Royal Magical Library was never banned. I think it might’ve been limited at one point but never banned. Whenever it’s used in a deck nothing good comes of it.
That ftk from goat format actually didn’t see widespread play like cyber jar did
For a second there I felt like MBT had to run Exodia for the lols.
The fact that there are still ways to pull the ftk off is insane.
I find it funny that people were on Dracoslayer cards in Majespector because lore.
MBT's decklist is giving me PTSD flashbacks to having to play against Chicken Game-Pseudo Space Exodia players.
During this format, i hated it. Now i kinda miss this format. Lol i had just got back into the game at the time, and i decided i really enjoyed playing the first incarnation of D/D/Ds!!! Lol
Same! I thought this format was pretty whack when I first started but it’s super fun going back!
Yo, is that THE Iiiiiigniiiiisteeeeeeeer?
Game 2 question: Was there a reason for Alex to not activate Wickedwitch in response and tag into Dark Destroyer when Joseph tried to shuffle it into the deck with Ignister Prominence?
He'd just lose the dark destroyer there since ignister doesn't target
Ignister Prominence shuffles at resolution
@@andrejv.2834 Perfect, thank you, and you as well Alexis
Star Seraph Satellarknights just got robbed sadly! 😥😥
Cimoo’s deck May have son a YCS but MBT is using limited/banned Cards to this day
I would be interested to see Chicken game, it doesn't seem that busted. Terraforming is a bit crazy though.
Mbt: we've shown you enough nekroz
Me: lies! Never enough!
Cimmoo why you didn't add back the farm girl with kozmo town?
It just hit me that Dark Destroyer released on the same week as YCS Dallas in November.
And then not even 4 days later everything else was banned away.
My curiosity is beyond peaked regarding what the meta would have looked like had the internet been able to brew around Kozmos?!?!? Like Nekroz still had tools, B.A. could have adapted.
We were stripped of a hypothetical brewing dreamscape by a misstimed banlist
As someone who has played both of these decks both recently and in the pass it was fun to watch the game match
Despite the mistakes that was in the game
Cough cough (using luster for castel) cough cough
The RML FTK is back with a vengeance.
moon mirror shield was an out to kozmo dark destroyer, just so you know
19:20 Illegal move. luster pendulum the dracoslayer can only be used as Syncho, XYZ, or Fusion material, for a dracoslayer monster, not generic extra deck monsters.
Majespecter player here
I'm still not sure how to build this deck in 2023. Draco seems to be the best way tbh.
Rooster sleeves.
Is MBT playing a deck involving a rooster?
This was about back when I got into the game proper. Before this I would just play caveman Yugioh with my friends or play the video games. This was the first time I played real decks against other real decks and I'm getting so nostalgic for it
It's funny when you realize Madolche could smoke Dark Destroyer with Tiaramisu, but it was rarely brought up even though Pepe could play just about anything with it.
Fiendish chain Royal magical library is soo funny
Hell yeah, the format I joined the game in after like 10 years of absence. Brings back memories, I was on Performage Majespecters like MBT and staring down Dark Destroyer was always a fucking delight
Starting off from here until code of the due list is my favourite period of YGO. This when i finally got into playing meta and I love so many decks from this era up to COTD. Full power PK Fire is my favourite deck and I can’t wait for u guys to show it off once Beatrice descends in the gold set.
At 25:00, wouldn't Library also get a counter for MST?
You can see when Cimo thinks he's losing when hes putting his cursor closer to the "Admit Defeat"- Button
Oh nice. We just got kozmo’s in duel links.
I dont understand why cimo sat there dping nothing game 2, i genuinly dont understand
I have a special relationship with dimension of chaos, it was the first time I met the people I play yugioh with now. I was bad at that time, but I have improved a lot since then.
This is around the time I got back into the game.... I took a hiatus when GX came out, the game just didn't feel the same anymore so.... Imagine what it was like when I returned to the game lol so much more to learn which took awhile..
so excited for the next couple sets and episodes
wing raiders
breakers of shadow
premium gold
monarchs and ABCs
So much exciting stuff comong up
The Majespecter main deck gets hard countered by Kozmo non-target beaters. Luckily they have Prominence.
I haven't played since the kozmo days :(
I never played Majespecter, but I did play 3-ofs of both Kirin and Eccentrick in PSY-Frames.
Me before the duels: If this card game has any justice, Majespecter will beat Kozmo.
Me after the duels: YES THERE'S JUSTICE
19:50 wait, did you just use luster pendulum to xyz summon castel??
This really was Hydrogen Bomb vs Coughing Baby
i get all other misspellings. but how does he read "kyubi" as "kyubae"?
Where getting closer and closer the where I really start Yugioh again
Probably 3-5 video’s away
Game 1 11:56
Game 2 22:40
Game 3 (Extra) 30:20
31 card deck? That's bricky as fuck, what you were meant to do is ALSO play Pseudospace and run a 28 card deck!
No really people in the circles I frequented at the time said this.
They also said Kozmo was just a fluke and really only a tier 2, if not tier 3, to cope with the price of those Dark Destroyers.
unfortunately a couple of illegal plays there
19:21 you can't summon castel here, because Luster Pendulum can only be used for the Fusion/Synchro/XYZ summon of Dracoslayer monsters
40:02 Nekomata searches in the end Phase
Do people really want to make Pendulums indepent from Links? Dont really know how this game survived this atrocity for three years.
Ah yes, I woud like to see every deck run 3 pot of greed, 3 graceful charity and 3 painful choice. Plus having 50+ ftk decks and floodgate decks too
@@nothingatall6467 Exactly! There's only been 2 to 8 meta relevant decks per ban list, but this way there's over 50 relevant decks.
@@insanemakaioshin So you want a format filled with decks trying to win on the first turn and also decks that don't want you to play at all with their Imperial Order, Royal Oppression and other floodgate cards?
@@nothingatall6467 Why not? Diversity is the spice of life.
I've played this match up and it's annoying because neither player can target each other and all of our cards target but Kozmo always wins it's faster and best sticks are too big they don't have ours for ships
I thought this was more of a majectspectors but it's different Ive faced majectspectors vs kozmo
so fun fact, you can E-Tele for Tincan, then in End Phase use Tincan's effect to get 1-out-of-3 random Kozmos and then tag out Tincan for whichever Kozmo you ended up getting before E-Tele forces it to banish itself lmao
EDIT: nvm tincan's not out yet sadge
You really need to disable emojis if you want to get rid of these bots dude. Its the only way sadly.
Oh is that how it works? Should definitely disable emojis like ASAP than.
21:05 and turn your phone on full volume, trust me
Welcome to spaceship format gamers
Isn’t the format after pepe that?
How good was the protagonist's cards during the Arc-V era? Was Performapals & Odd Eyes meta or jank at best?
Keep your eyes on Performapal down the road, that’s all I’ll say about that.
@@bladeworksmaster that was a wild 2 weeks
Performapals were tier 0 lol
Kozmos are very underrated just built them for cheap and smoked locals made everyone mad “he’s playing kozmos” they all said but I didn’t care cause I walked out with 5 packs and 50$ 😎 thanks kozmos tin can mvp
Please tell me Joseph got the OTK in that second game! I want to be sure, because if so, it’s a great way to start 2023!
Idk why Joseph never just used the pends on his field for ignister instead of his scales when he had no cards in hand to replace the scale
oh boy it’s Kirin time
I remember going to highschool seeing someone opena pack around this time and pulled chicken game. They said it was bad i said id find a way little did they know what that one spell card would do to the meta
TCG release date of Dimension of Chaos: November 6, 2015
TCG banlist that bans Vanity's Emptiness: March 31, 2017
Kozmo!
MBTips of the day:
1. Cheat, just do illegal plays lmao.
2. Invest the dirty money you got from cheating into duel links kozmo.
3.?
4. Montage dragon jumpscare.
this was really fun to watch
Rml should have gone to 4, simooo chained mst (spell)
Cimo, pretty sure you could've used Honest with Sliprider, and at least could've kept it around.
Edit: Then kept watching and, yeah, you were fine not using it at that point, then.
