There is small window at the start of the battle phase (literally called the start of the battle phase) when you can use quick effects before your opponent attacks. Generally gets ignored during in person play because the turn player sates battle and their first attack at the same time. Most simulators also skip it unless told not to.

This paleo list is so funny. I cant remember what the ban list looked like exactly during this time. But its still funny that its 42 cards with 1 compulse, 1 threatening roar, 2x waboku, 2x, storming 1 Xyz reborn.
That’s because it was a trash list. No reason to have 1 Roar over the third Waboku. It actually came up in one of the games too where Waboku made a difference over Roar.

There's also a combo Traptrix build which makes opabinia turn one, and can setup some crazy boards by using opabinia to search Marcella to activate to dump the crystal beast trap to search any field spell, such as perelino

Feel like in game 3, could've went all in, with chaining Threatening Roar to Cosmic, bring back Dinomischus. Overlay Ronin and Dinomischus for Opabinia. Opabinia detach Ronin, search whatever. Activate Olenoides from hand, pop something, chain second Dinomischus in gy. Can either overlay Swap and Dino for Toadally or activate whatever Paleo card that was searched with Opabinia, chain Olenoides in gy, that way there are three lvl 2's for Anomalocaris.
In fact, could've taken out both scales with back-to-back Olenoides (one already in hand, one from Opabinia search), plus the pop(s) from Anomalocaris to really control the board from there.

@@thevp_ssb. Yes, there is. Not being able to declare an attack requires the player in question to have a battle phase, which your opponent doesn't have on *your* turn.
Paleo Frogs are pretty cool. Sadly, Roadentoadin was banned because of Sprite, which knee-capped the deck. Problem is this is a trap deck before Eldritch redefined the concept with lots of recursion. It is very slow, relies on opening hands and getting Twin Twistered or Lightning Storm'd kicks your teeth in. Toadally Awesome is awesome but he holds up the entire deck and when removal became more archetypal-based, you were less likely to get max advantage off Toad stealing something.
Mithrillium is so fucking sick, what a great card. Reps Metalfoes' best qualities all at once by itself: spot removal (via it's bounce), resource loop (via reciclying), advantage engine (via floating), versatility in deckbuilding (by having a generic fusion material).
Toadally awesome, a card that i hate because of paleo-frog, yet also love because of fluffals randomly being able to run it after the release of dolphin.
34:36 you could use toad here and should as it does matter as toad can add swap back to your hand which gives you follow up. This matters with 2 cards on field jeeeeeees
The only effect on Luster pendulum states: you cannot special summon fusion, synchro, or XYZ monsters using this card as material, Except “Dracoslayer” monsters
i kinda loved this deck when it came out :D (Paleozoic) first i build them with Al-Lumi'raj since the tokens were unaffected by it and then went full on controll (sadly without toadally awesome since iw as broke) and finally playing paleozoic Vulcanics
It was yang zings were the only playable wyrms for a while and just because it was in a pile doesn't mean it wasn't specific those decks were playing tons of random specific support

9:00 there is never a good reason for a card to be over $100, when the only reason is because of Konami TCG's greed. Look at the OCG and how they get lower rarity printings of every card, while in the TCG every good card is rarity bumped to secret, short printed, or both.
Why not use Toad to negate the Banbaku, either in the scale or monster effect, to prevent Kirin from coming out? The only other thing MBT could have done was crash into the Paleo at that point, leaving a single scale and facing down Toad. Seeing this become a 2-0 because of Alex's hard misplays really makes this painful. Please find a better pilot for the deck who'll do it justice!
I would still like you guys to do a kind of retrospective. the new decks vs the old decks. why can't the old ones keep up? etc. you do it a bit in the deck preamble, but I think as much detail as possible is best for a series like this. otherwise this is just prog but with ycs lists
