    The Magnificent Century takes leave with a breathtaking final episode. Suleiman gets plunged into darkness after Bayezid died and he gets even sicker. Selim tries to releive his pain falling back upon alcohol. Defne fights with all her strength to be able to protect her son. She understands there's no way out while she sees Nurbanu in front of her. The mother and her son walk towards the death holding onto each other. Mihrimah gets Nurbanu in a big trouble flaming with vengeance. Gülfem tries to kill Suleiman considering he is the responsible of everything has happened. However, the night ends with a dark secret. After the agony, Selim comes in the capital as the only heir to the throne. Mihrimah severs all ties with Selim since she sees him as a fratricide. Suleiman loses his strenght day by day and gets furious when he hears what his people talk about him.
    And Suleiman the Magnificent goes for his last journey in a blaze of glory. An era ends while Suleiman the Sultan of the world gasps his life out!
    At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
    The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
    As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.
    Cast: Halit Ergenç, Nebahat Çehre, Meryem Uzerli, Okan Yalabık, Nur Aysan, Selma Ergeç, Sema Keçik, Filiz Ahmet, Selim Bayraktar, Selen Öztürk, Nihan Büyükağaç, Burcu Tuna, Merve Oflaz, Arif Erkin, Ali Uyandıran, Alp Öyken, Murat Tüzün, Doğan Turan, Gökhan Çelebi, Yüksel Ünal.

Hurrem was afraid to lose the sultans love so her attacks were more manipulative. So even after Hurrem fought to stay relevant she decided to build a secret chamber to spy on council meetings and that was a major fail for her. She didn’t need to because she already haf the highest position valide sultanna and had Rustem as grand vizer under her control. It still wasn’t enough. How could any rational person believe that this could ever happen though? It's not human nature to want to share the one you love with various other people. To expect women to simply act as breeding machines for one man is sick and unrealistic.The women had to fight for their son to become heir because of the disgusting law that said fratricide was allowed. And with that system, how could the sons all get along and be happy? They knew that if one of their brothers became sultan that it was perfectly possible they would he killed.

    I love the FACT that it is Ibrahim who calls him, and not Hurrem. His story started with Ibrahim and ended with him. He was the closest person he ever had. From the times of his fear being killed by his father through the birth of his every child to every conquest he had (emotional,physical or teritorial) and every grief that had ever strucked him ...Ibrahim was there. And when he killed him,he felt remourse and grief like he never felt before. He mourned him for decades, not just for years, cause he knew, right there and than, that he killed part of his own soul, part of his own counciousness. He killed someone who he loved the most, his only friend, his BROTHER... And that destroyed him, it tored him from within. He regreted it the most, out of everything in his life. He knew, deep down within, by killing Ibrahim, he killed his councesness, and with killing Ibrahim, he signed a death warrant for each of his child. If only Ibrahim was there to stop him... If only Ibrahim was there to save him and his kids, from very him. Cause Suleiman knew he had that bloodthirstiness inside him, and Ibrahim prevented that,for most of the time... Even with himself, he saved himself from Suleiman couple of times... So when he heard Ibrahims voice, he knew he is safe. He knew that the pain and suffering is over, and that he was finnaly, after decades of lonnelines, in safe hands. In hands of his ONLY BROTHER, HIS SOULMATE....🤌🏼💔💔

    The difference between Hurrem, and Nurbanu is that Hurrem loves her family and sultan while Nurbanu just want power and survival. Hurrem will always be my favourite. She fought for love like none of them and respect the sultan. Nurbanu only love Selim because of what was in for her and her children and even disrespected him. Nice century they lived well. Love or hate them, we should all learn from history. Mahidevren, Vallide and Hurrem could have been friends if only they only saw Suleiman as a ruler and not their benefits. Mustapha would have saved his head if only he listened to his father and stayed out of women's affairs and be obedient. Mustapha died because he loved his father but Selim lived because he feared his father. My favourite will remain our Sultana Mihiram of the sun and moon. So sad that Bayeid stubbornness didn't let her sacrifice be rewarded. She stood like a dynasty my Sultana I love and respect your intelligence. Selim, you are not my favourite but you were full of wisdom you never consider him your father instead you saw him as the king. Nurbanu I wish you never benefitted from all that Hurrem fought for but you did well too. You had to survive but you were so cruel and showed no mercy. But we can all blame Suleiman and his father for all they suffered. Suleiman never felt his father's love so he became a terrible one. Ahmed changed history and remain my favourite.

      Ya, but Ibrahim was Suleyman's pretty boy, honosexual relationship, he was always jealous, and being so sadistic and unbalanced as his character was here, he would never even consider "getting along" with Hürrem; he always hated her for interrupting his "idyll" with Suleyman and bringing Suleyman home to his manhood in a real heterosexual relationship, away from the adolescent one where Ibrahim had control over Suleyman, that time long past -- and so Ibrahim did not need to own his own control over himself, he thought, because of remaining there in his mind.

    Of course, this story took place in a different era, but I wondered why the Ottoman sultanate failed to codify any succession laws during its existence. This would have prevented so much in-house conflict among its dynasty members. While the Ottoman Empire flourished in military, arts, science, religious tolerance, ethnic diversity, territorial conquests, etc., it failed in this. My favourite character in this series was Sumbul Aga, the purveyor of coffee to the Western world!

    • @tigress5173
      @tigress5173 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. There was always an unwritten succession law in Ottoman Empire: the strongest one takes the throne. Though cruel and barbaric, the non existence of a direct succession law strenghtened the Sultan's authority. When a succession law codified later on, the crown princes stayed in Topkapı Palace but they were constantly in fear of death, feeling unsafe and in danger. Consequently, such condition produced mentally ill Sultans.

    • @jbhinson1
      @jbhinson1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They needed stability and assurance there was a successor so there were plenty of choices. The empire meant more as a whole than any child of the dynasty. So whoever was strong enough to gain control of the throne and have the military fall in line under them would get the others executed. That’s why Mustafa and his brother were killed. They rose to power too soon and Sultan had them killed before he was dethroned, in order not to destabilize the empire in its strongest state. His wisdom and longevity created arguable the strongest time in the entire empire. But the family sacrificed themselves and each other for it

    Wohoo the final episode is here-
    1. Suleiman - oh my god - I truly became a die-hard fan of this actor. The way he emotes with his eyes, his dialogue delivery is so convincing. This led to another show of his -Babil, and I loved that as well. I had watched shows in other languages especially English but no one else comes this close to this man in terms of acting caliber.
    2. About the show - this is incredibly well made. The only low points for me from picturization POV was the naval battles but I still enjoyed them. Rest all - the cast and the writing is top notch. I discovered this show in 2021 during lockdown when TH-cam out of nowhere recommended me episode 3 of MC and got so hooked onto this show.
    3. The most unpopular opinion - history wise as well as show wise - no empire will ever succeed on the blood and humiliation of women and children, and the Ottomans have accumulated so much of crimes on women and children. It is because of this that the women - starting from Hurrem became absolutely ruthless and scheming to ensure their survival.

    • @lordzeus6166
      @lordzeus6166 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      3. Why focus on the women lol. There are slaves of men and women. You do know the context of the Ottoman Empire right? Everyone is a slave? Dervish program took Christian boys and they served the empire as “slaves”. But they were educated and it was a merit system. Being born into nobility was not enough. The giray family considered second to the Ottoman family didn’t really hold any positions. Compare it to the European families who were forcing their daughters to marry people for alliances, mhirmmah, hurrem, nurbanu became the sultanate of women. What other empire at that time had women in court?
      Very strange you felt the women were humiliated when all the male characters outside the royal family were dervish. Aka slave

    • @anjanavasudevan6470
      @anjanavasudevan6470 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@lordzeus6166 I do understand the context of Ottomans. The males were taken as kids for the army and state. Sure they got educated, it was a merit system, but at the cost of what? Some enrolled voluntarily, but most modern history sources point that they were taken forcibly from their homes and were made slaves. Imo, no one is a slave to another human (even kings). Although these "slaves" became staunch patriots, can't help but notice the alternate reality if they were "free people". The only redeeming aspect of the Ottomans for me was how women acquired power to eventually create the sultanate of women. Again to be able to gain such humongous amounts power enough to control a state, you have to be ruthless and shrewd, which only hardships teach you (barring Mihirimah, she was born with a golden spoon). I hope you do understand if the Ottomans, if they existed in the present, were to establish the harem and military the way they did it around 400-500 years ago, it would be considered crimes against humanity and the amnesty would be knocking at its doors (Amnesty is a joke, but you can imagine the outrage).
      Coming to show - they showed how Sumbul was castrated (this was the most painful scene to watch for me), how Ibrahim, Hurrem and Nurbanu were forcibly taken from their homes.
      That point came as it was my empathy doing the talking. As a modern woman with value systems in place, you can't really ignore and watch as if nothing happened. And European empires are another mess altogether for me. The lesser said, the better.

    • @lordzeus6166
      @lordzeus6166 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anjanavasudevan6470 why is the redeeming factor around the women? what other state had slaves (forced or otherwise) becoming viziers (prime ministers), there are eunuchs and you are talking about the women being humiliated...bizarre lol.
      the nations the ottomans fought, portugese, spanish, italians. they had slave territories. I've never seen them have a prime minister of such descent.
      you said you are a modern woman and that is what is concerning. i dont know how someone can have empathy with gender bias

    • @anjanavasudevan6470
      @anjanavasudevan6470 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@lordzeus6166 Please read my comment again - I mentioned both women and children at first, and then on the slavery concept next - I repeat - despite both the men and women receiving education and improving their quality of lives because of merit system, it will never justify how most of them started their lives in the Ottoman empire. The redeeming factor is around women for me because like you and I, everyone has seen mostly men being in positions of power in history - can we agree on the inherent patriarchy and sexism that has been present since ages and even today, and this was also portrayed in the show as well?
      And again as I said Europeans are a whole different can of worms.
      I did not know you were supposed to not feel sorry for these women and children (read the last word) who were separated from their families, and were probably tortured under the garb of slavery as it considered biased empathy (since you specifically mentioned only women).
      I rest my case.

    • @lordzeus6166
      @lordzeus6166 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@anjanavasudevan6470 I’ve read your point. And like I said. I don’t see gender.
      And this patriarchy, where women are being purposely held back by men because of this motive. The job occupations where men dominate, builders, bin men, the army, labourers, software engineers, are they part of this grand plan to hold back women? It sounds as if you have read a lot of books on this patriarchy and now diminish men because they have held positions of power. The spanish conquistador’s, there were females who actively went out to South America and conquered indigenous species.
      This patriarchy. Aren’t there millions of TH-cam accounts of women wanting men to take charge. When the Ukraine war happened? Weren’t the men told to stay and fight? I didn’t see one protest about that “patriarchy”
      Take England that has queens has head of state since the 1500s. Sultan selim even saved queen Elizabeth I. Most of the first born monarchs were men. Is that “patriarchy”?

      @@shrutiiyer9531 yes, they were both the ones he loved the most (not like children who were born to him, whom he loved also but he chose these 2 to walk beside him) and he knew they loved him, they had dreams together and yet only one stayed with him the rest of his life.
      Haseki Hurrem Sultan was the love he had a good end with. They lived together, he honoured her and concluded their life together in a way, no remorse, no loose ends.
      Ibrahim Pasha was the one who even though he made his own death possible, still loved Sultan Suleiman and was loved by him. It's just that as a ruler he did have to make such a decision.

    I learn a lot from this Magnificent Film. Big big lesson ! Huge !! Culture, love, friendship, betrayal, ambition that comes with heavy price, and so much things about life. " What goes around comes around. " Both Mahidevram and Hurrem got their karma. I pray that someday when I visit Turki, I will go and see that Suleiman Palace ( if it is still exist). Never seen so wonderful series like this before.. It makes me angry and disappointed when a malicious woman, a slander like Nurbanu with Selim got the throne. ⚡🔥Sumbul makes me laugh and cry at the same time, and Bali Bey makes me jealous everytime he look at another girl. 😂 Oh Muhibbi... I think I fell in love with him. Hahahhaaha. How beautiful that lullaby Hurrem used to sing for her children. ❤ Oh Mustafa.. oh Bayezid...😭😭😭you left such sad memories. May heaven be yours in the afterlife. 🙏Oh Hunkarem... oh Suleiman... you maybe once were the great ruler of the world, but as a father...you failed. 😢 You broke your vow that you will never gonna hurt your son like what your father tried to do to you. Unfortunately.... 💔 From this movie I understand why it is always best to have only 1 wife for a man. No rivalry...no envy... Big lesson to all the men in the whole world. Be very careful when it comes to choose a wife for you. Because once she gives you bad influence, disaster follows through your days. May all women also learn that they should be careful with their mind and tounge ! Because once a woman whisper to her man any evil things for her ambition, the war starts, and blood spills. May all women on earth will only speak good things and their prayer be a blessing to others, may their every words are just to cure and heal the broken hearted, and may their tounge never share hatred but love and peace. Hats off to all those involved in making this movie . MC series deserves an Oscar Reward.. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I wonder if someone can help me to find the lyric of all the song here. I would be very happy. Love from Indonesia. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ 05 June 2023

      People, ie the women, when they are denied access to their own life and choices, are forced into a role of living through others, a falsity from step one. Some of those women did the best they could with it, as they took their own lives seriously. There was no evil, only ignorance and an oppressive and abusive system that twists the people who live under its influence. Learn to see truly...

    Unpopular Opinion: Nurbanu doesnt deserve this much hate especially when there are so many Hurrem fans. Yes Hurrem is definately better than Nurbanu, but she was no less evil. Because of Hurrem, innocent Mustafa died , and she did all the planning. Nurbanu did provoke Selim in Bayazid’s matter, but firstly Selim and Bayazid never got along and secondly all the pashas went to Selim’s side after Hurrem’s death. Wheras in Mustafa’s death it was Hurrem and Rustem mainly who created misunderstandings between Mustafa and Suleiman.
