    You say not sponsored yet you do share affiliate links. That's basically the same thing..

    • @Nick_Lewis
      @Nick_Lewis  ปีที่แล้ว +274

      Thanks for your comment, but it is not the same. I am not paid a fee to make this content for Amazon and I do not require their approval to post this content. Both of which are the case when a video is sponsored as they would be paying me an upfront fee and approve the video or ask me for changes to the content before posting - I would disclose that if that were the case. I disclosed that there are affiliate links in this video verbally and in the description box of this video (which I also do for every video I upload to TH-cam.) Can this bias content? Possibly, but that is for the viewer to decide. For my part, I disclose the nature of every relationship I have with the brands I work with.
      I hope that clarifies things. I am pinning your comment just in case anyone else was curious about this issue.

      @@Nick_Lewis Still feels to me you make this type of video solely to boost your revenue. A lot of questionable products, that are at best soso. Your choice is limited I guess if you only select products from Amazon that have an affiliate program. Overall it just feels like a low effort money grab to me.
      It’s perfectly fine if that’s what it is but just be transparent about it.

    • @teaptot
      @teaptot ปีที่แล้ว +103

      @@Chrisssssssssssssssssss Nick has affiliate links in every video where he's discussing products, most TH-camrs do.
      I had a quick look at his Amazon & Ikea video history, they do the well for views so obviously he'll keep doing them. If you don't like the products that's fine but some will be useful to others, for me it's the lint roller replacement which I'd never thought of.
      He's literally self employed & so is wanting to generate revenue, maybe don't be such a hater.

    • @Nick_Lewis
      @Nick_Lewis  ปีที่แล้ว +88

      @@teaptot Thanks for that. Also I think people don't realize that IKEA doesn't have an affiliate program so design TH-camrs don't make any money off of the links. You are correct though that affiliate links are an important source of revenue for creators (and keeps content on TH-cam free to watch) but not nearly as lucrative as some people think. Although there is for sure a conversation about how affiliate links can bias content (recommending an Amazon lamp over an IKEA one for example) the revenue is never worth losing trust with the audience in my opinion. I'll also add that as of typing this, this video has 6909 Likes and 50 Dislikes. So I think the general audience is comfortable with my choices and sees value in this video.

      @@ChrisssssssssssssssssssThey are questionable products to YOU. All of the products he has mentioned are GREAT. I happen to already have a majority of them and I can testify that they WORK WELL. Making TH-cam videos and editing them is a lot of work. There is absolutely nothing wrong with affiliate links. You probably don’t work for free and there’s nothing wrong with him making some money from the referrals. It’s nothing off our back to use the links. It makes me happy that he gets something in return and appreciate his work and videos!

    I was a costumer for tv and film and Folex was a staple. On medical dramas it was perfect for stains on white lab coats. Costumer tip - if your steamer spits water spots, put an athletic sock over the wand. It diffuses the steam. 😁

You might want to look into their solid business practices before telling people not to get involved with MLM companies. The Pampered Chef is head and shoulders above all the rest. I'm proud to have been associated with the Pampered Chef. Their products are good. Im still using products i bought from them over 20 years ago including my food chopper. On the OXO hair remover, how do u get the hair out of the box thing?

  • @biblicallyaccuratecockroach
    @biblicallyaccuratecockroach ปีที่แล้ว

    Be extremely careful with lint shavers; they essentially remove a layer of the fabric, and will in time weaken the fabric and create holes, like shaving wood until you get a bowl, except with fabric it only takes a single thread snapping to create a domino effect. Good quality fabrics will naturally pile less and need less maintenance, but still I'd reserve lint shavers for sturdy upholstery, as clothing fabric tends to be a lot more fragile, especially in modern fast fashion. But as a hobbyist sewist I'm slightly paranoid about protecting clothing from damage, lol. I will never use a dryer, for instance, as they can cut the lifespan of clothing in half or even more, especially natural materials and especially-especially protein fibers like silk or wool - or hair, it's why you need a heat protector if you blow dry your hair, protein does not like heat. An indoor clothes hanger with a small dehumidifier underneath works wonders even in winter rainy season, and is cheaper than a dryer in the long run.

    If you own a pet (especially a cat), please be very cautious about using a diffuser. I know some people say certain essential oils are safe for pets - but there are many camps that say, in the long run, none should be used around pets. I'd err on the side of caution, when it comes to my pets (and besides, if they are not safe for pets, how sure can I be that they are safe for long term human exposure) - rather than pick one source that says 'theirs' is ok.

      @LindaVernon ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct in assuming they aren't great for humans either, no matter which oil. The mist is so fine it is easy to breathe in especially since they are on so long that we forget they are there. :(

    Steamers are also excellent for blocking your knitted projects. Honestly, the only time I use an iron is when I'm working on a sewing project, which requires precision. Trying to cut or sew wrinkled fabric is a nightmare.

    Folex! I use the rug cleaner. The lint pill cutter is great too. I loved the dog bed because I had to get 2 of them for my kitties and then ended up with a blanket for me made out of the same material. 😄 I also detest ironing so I got a professional steamer. It was such a great buy. I will never iron sheets. I'm too lazy and I don't care. 😆 bt I got the tools with mine and it cleans the bathroom, all kinds of things. America's Test kitchen gave me the recipe for crock pot pot roast and it's amazing. Yes, I trust them too.

    Love America's Test Kitchen! My ceramic skillet was becoming less non-stick by the day, love my cast iron but it's so heavy & not ideal for some things, and I refuse to buy teflon--you have to be so careful, & one tiny scratch will make it start poisoning your food, so I took the plunge and bought the carbon steel skillet that ATK recommended, & I seasoned it with potato skins & salt like they did.
    I love it. It's the best non-stick skillet ever! You can use any utensil in it, there's no weird coating that's going to get into your food, & it's naturally non-stick forever. I'll never have to buy another skillet! Ever!
    (Sorry for writing a book about it lol...that skillet is just life-changing for me 😀)

    My mom had been dealing with a lot of repeat stains on her wool rugs in the last year because the family dog, Raven, was a senior who was having trouble with her bladder. At 15 years old we just had to do what we could to take care of the house and her. Through that process the guy who owns the carpet cleaning service in town recommended Folex. It really does work wonders. As of a few months ago Raven is no longer with us, but because of her I know a whole lot more about taking care of dogs and a home that has them. I feel very prepared for the next pet, and I’m glad that I won’t have to worry about feeling as frustrated as my mom did with a similar situation. It takes a lot of stress away when you have a viable and consistent solution.

      Agreed. I used to have two big dogs and two cats, the dogs were - big dogs - and the cats threw up everywhere. Folex was my go-to for cleaning couches and rugs. I haven't seen it for years, but now I know Amazon has it I ordered some today.

    We have the dog bed. It's fabulous!! Fluffy, cosy, and not too bad looking. On ironing sheets: we iron the top 3' of the top sheet. That's it. Our feet don't care if the sheets at the bottom of the bed are wrinkly.

    I have had that OXO lint brush for my cats’ hair, works great. Plus, over time animal dander can build up on the brush and caddy, and running it under warm water, and it dries, ready to go to work again. And I’ve used Folex too.

    shortcut for those who hate ironing their sheets and have the money for it. Find a laundrette with an ironing press machine (or drip dry on the line). I did hundreds of sheets a day at my last job, was so therapeutic.

    😂"I'm literally adding what she says to my cart before she finishes her sentence" - LOVE this (and love America's Test Kitchen! And I'm also not buying items by some random never-heard-of-before company off Amazon - I tend to stick to the tried-and-true brands. I want the quality and reliability, not just a great price. It has to do its job well and last longer than I need it.

    High five for no ironing! HATE IT. I own a mostly broken travel iron that I use maybe once a year, that’s how much I despise it. The most I’ll do is a collar, or when I am sewing, for seams. Otherwise, if you get things out of the dryer at the right time and hung/folded away, that’s pressed enough for me!

    I recently purchased a Scrub Daddy soap dispenser. It's fantastic. The top has a push dispenser for sponges. The middle is a squeeze bottle that squirts out the bottom, which is great for doing the dishes.
