i never noticed what you're saying that Bella's probably more in love with the idea of immortality than she is with Edward and you're absolutely right.
i've seen people argue that bella basically has no idea what being a vampire is actually like, because she sees it through the lense of what edward deigns to tell her which is basically nothing (because he's insanely controlling), so from her perspective it's just 'be hot and get a ready-made family' disease, especially when she turns and doesn't get the whole uncontrolable blood thirst thing. when that's all she knows, why wouldn't she take any opportunity to turn?
I agree because when she turns she doesn't mention anything about how she can now be with Edward forever, she literally says, " I was born to be a vampire."
It`s totally clear that she wants to be a Vampire and that`s also one of the reasons she is so devastated when Edward leaves. I never understood when people said "It`s just her first love". Uh, yeah, but the only one who can make her an IMMORTAL VAMPIRE. I mean that was the whole appeal of the books to me, the fantasy of being able to become a vampire. I think she also really wanted to be part of Edwards family, with her own mother caring more for herself and her father being a bit distant, no siblings and no other family mentioned. What she lost when Edward first left was a whole life that she could have lived in a family she liked as a strong immortal Vampire, it was not just about Edward. It`s a mystery to me why most people don`t seam to see that.
@boulderarms I really want movies on all the backgrounds of the Cullens. From the snippets we got, those stories already sound way better than the romance "triangle" we got
honestly i'm reading midnight sun atm and the conclusion i've come to is that every cullen except carlisle is high key insane, and carlilse is just in *so* much denial. so much. if he admits edward dating bella is a bad idea he also has to admit that the only thing stopping edward going on a full on massacre is his massive daddy issues, so he's just like 'this is totally fine and romantic, edward doesn't want to f*ck me at all, we're a totally normal family' (fr tho, edward compares his girlfriend to his dad So Often it's actually horrifying)
I feel like Twilight would have been better if Bella was a manipulator who was playing both sides in order to gain immortality. At least then her character decisions would make more sense.
They could've spinned her as a villain considering that her vampire ability or whatever was to nullify others abilities?? Imagine the possibilities? A whole ass movie of her taking down the vampire police.
I always felt bad for Bellas father even as a kid like she is his daughter always leaving causing troubles and shit while he was always so alone before her it is so sad.
@@tunafish5462 provided they have edward's terrifying serial killer inner monologue as narration over the film, I would see that film in theatres so many times. I want an actual actor to have to deliver the line 'it was intoxicating to see her in her natural environment' over footage of bella eating cherios so bad
Stephanie Meyers really had the audacity to make all of the other Cullen's backstories waaaay more interesting than Edward and Bella's story across all four books
Yassss!! Those two are the only ones I liked in the whole damn series; a friendship between them would’ve been glorious bitch and sassy. Absolutely hated how Leah was treated for rightfully being upset that her man ghosted her, cheated on her with her cousin then got engaged to her, and not only did she have see them around the Rez being all loved up and basically having everyone including her parents telling her to suck it up, but she ended up being the only girl stuck in a pack and sharing mind space with her ex and his dudebros who despised her, found out she may never have kids, and was forced to work multiple times with the very vamps who were the catalyst for her life being turned upside down to protect bland Bella just cause Jacob didn’t know when to walk away. Sis never had a chance or a choice.
@@KeiciaS I AGREE WITH EVERTHING YOU SAID. And since Leah can't have kids, that means she has no imprint. Also that imprint thing is so messed up. They basically went ON and ON about how the imprint has a choice and can choose what they want from their imprintee. YET, Emily went on about "I had no choice". Like, sis, just say you wanted your cousin's man and move on. I honestly feel like every girl/women who was cheated on would sympathize with Leah. And the backlash she recieved from just healing and being angry was disgusting.
CHANDRE GEORGINA BRUCKNER EX👏🏾ACT👏🏾LY. Imprinting bugs the hell out of me. None of those guys gave those girls a second glance but it took some bedazzled folks with some added ancestral magic to turn into a walking shag carpet, one glance and suddenly they’re in love? And not one of those girls loved themselves, especially after they found out about imprinting, to go ‘nah, I’m good but maybe I’ll call if I need help’? I would’ve had to find some way to make it to the ancestral plane to fight those ancestors myself if I ever had my choice to choose my life partner and my ability to leave the reservation to make a better life for myself taken away from me just because you and your descendants became Balto extras. Let’s not even think about how the great ancestors decided some of the pack’s perfect imprint were kids. Emily was way out of pocket. Can’t believe no one who knew about imprinting and the whole ‘the imprinted becomes whatever the imprintee wanted’ never looked at Emily and said ‘now hold up sis, why were you thirsting for your cousin’s man? Why couldn’t you want him to be a free plumber, an errand boy, a bestie, a big brother, anything but your fiancee’? Sam messed up with how he handled things but Emily was just plain evil; Sam tried to fight it but never stood a chance once Emily decided she wanted him. She deserved every bit of those scars. In fact as much as they talk about the imprintee choosing what they want the imprinted to be to them not one of those relationships were platonic except for Quil and Claire and that’s mainly due to the fact little sis was still in kindergarten eating crayons. Imprinting was just one of the convenient plot devices to ensure Bella did not have to sacrifice anything in her perfect new life. She got immortality, the rich, ‘handsome’ vampire who was intrigued by her due to her smelling like the perfect dinner and he couldn’t read how empty her mind was, the perfect miracle baby, and Jacob still hanging around due to him imprinting on said baby. In the end, Leah deserves better. Imagine going through that and having even your own family tell you it’s what the ancestors decided to you just have to deal with it. Jacob got to do the most over a girl didn’t want him and was stringing him along but Leah couldn’t even mourn all the tragedies that befell her all at once (the lost of her relationship with the love of her life, her cousin, her family, her friends and her community, her father’s death, the lost of her future and any thoughts of a family and, from how the pack treated her, her femininity and worth as a woman) all due to the Cullens. She really should’ve disowned her family, burnt the whole damn town down, pulled a Jacob and ran away to some place where she could begin to really heal.
@@KeiciaS I love you, so much! Lol. Thank you for this because most women I've met have had nothing but contempt for Leah and Rosalie. "Bolto extras" had me crying! Another thing that pissed me off (again I love you for actually commenting this): Jacob got to be a total dweeb over a girl he DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH. But Leah was told "get over it" with a splash of "you're such a b*tch". Like, seriously? SERIOUSLY? Jacob didn't have a relationship with Bella. Leah was ENGAGED to Sam, yet she was told that she's being dRaMaTiC. I was so disgusted that I didn't even finish the books. For me, S.M hates confident women who isn't afraid to speak out and show their emotions. Jokes on her though, Leah (in my opinion) had the MOST character growth and I bet S.M didn't even plan that. I understand there are soft girls out there who are unnoticeable and who struggle with their self image, etc, however, S.M chose these girls who had the personality of wet cardboard and severe self esteem issues. Why does a woman need to find validation within herself in the arms of a man? That just irritated me. Also, the way she made Leah seem like this overly aggressive female, she might've as well just had a big, flashing neon green sign saying "WOMEN LIKE THIS ARE DISGUSTING AND UNDESIRABLE". The hair issue, OH MY GOSH. In my mom's culture, hair is the sign of femininity and I think hair is also important in the Native American culture? I'm not too sure. So Leah having to cut her hair was, to me, a sign of losing everything womanly about her. And that triggered me. I'm so glad I wasn't the only one uncomfortable with Quil imprinting on Claire! That's pedophilia, right there. Like, I understand that the movie is about Bella, but even J.K Rowling (sigh that woman is another dumb*ss) gave Draco a family and he found love. But the woman who'll never be able to leave, who was turned into an animal and her womb was like "BYYYYYEEEE", will never have a happy ending. Also, she never ONCE delved into WHY Leah was the VERY FIRST female shapeshifter. She never gave any reasons or explanations. And if we're going according to wolves (I know they're shapeshifters, but they're still wolves) the female wolf is always mated to the Alpha Male. So was Leah's Gene's preparing her for the role of the Alpha Female? Is she the mate to another male, specifically an Alpha? Are there other tribes with shifters? From my point of view, Leah would be the one that would give birth to stronger wolves, seeing as she is basically the only female shifter. But noooooo, S.M went on to say she can't have babies because her period said "BYYYYYE". Phew. I'm so over the Twilight Drama Saga. (P.S your comments are hilarious. That eating crayons one really had me choking on my cool drink.)
She got that divorced parents syndrome 😂 "Yeah, I'll die for you and be reborn as an immortal creature and spend forever with you, but marriage might be pushing it my guy ."
that was me when I realized I dont like Riverdale anymore a couple of years ago. I had enough of their shit not even every man being shirtless could stop me from not hating it.
Anisa Burhan That’s the trope of her character. She’s got some minor personality but essentially she was also written as a self-insert so yeah, it’s a writing technique that’s received criticism because there aren’t many real stakes if the character is a Mary Sue because you know it’s supposed to work out for them in the end.
my sister bought the extra book that goes over the life of every cullen and so many of their stories are so interesting. Alice's story is incredibly sad and yea Rose's story would have made such a good book/movie
All of the vampires' backstories are way more interesting than bella. I need someone to write fanfiction or sth based on these stories I also liked Edward being vampire dexter killing murderers
Have you seen that tumblr “theory” where Bella planned to have Edward fall in love with her so he could turn her into a vampire and then ditch him and the books are written by Bella as a way to cover up her intentions
@flower meadows time probably doesn't matter as much to them as it does to a human, and thus seems to "fly by." they're immortal, so i doubt that being in a relationship for, say, a hundred years or so would affect them after a while.
Licking the area where you put the image of Booboo was A LOT 😭 "he aged like fine wine, and I'd bust it open like a cork" lmaoooo you aren't wrong though lmao
S. Meyer must have a thing for "age gap" relationships. Hear me out: Edward is like, hundreds of years old and Bella is a teen. Jacob is a grown man, and that's a /baby/. But if you read The Host, also by Meyer, the girl is 16 and the man 26. I think there may be some... undiscussed issues... there
Oh god you’re right and I feel sick. Worst part is she’s got an army of rose tinted perma pre-teens that will eat her shit up and defend it with their lives.
@@breezymango4113 because girls in these types of movies are always white dude. productions really said ✨ no✨ to racial diversity when it comes to main characters
The entire twilight series seemed like Bella being obsessed with immortality rather than Edward. When he left her she felt devastated because his family and the possibilities were gone. Jacob being a werewolf brought some magic back to her life. simple as.
@Black Knight Fool DUDE WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT LMAOOOO why are you everywhere in this comment section randomly talking shit about lgtbq+ people??? what the hell do we have to do with this
emmylia ikr people are taking about Bella not even liking Edward and then there’s a lgbtq comment that has nothing to do with Bella and her immortal wanting ass
I know one thing Disney's Pixar's Up. Managed in 5 minutes to tell a better convincing love story then this whole Twilight series did in several agonizing movies.
Absolutely, the meme never gets old. Or if you wanna go for an Old Hollywood example, look at Doctor Zhivago. Sure it’s a long movie, but a better love story than Twilight. (And once you understand the story behind the original novel by Boris Pasternak, it makes all the uncritical media attention given to Stephanie Meyer and E.L. James all the more *insulting*.)
To quote the novel, “Art always serves beauty, and beauty is the joy of possessing form, and form is the key to organic life since no living thing can exist without it.” For writers like Meyer, beauty and form resemble their self-indulgent fantasies without any capacity for empathy for others. Or self-awareness, for that matter.
I second that notion about Rosalie's story. Straight kill billed her way through the early stages of her vampire life. Where's👏🏾 her👏🏾 book 👏🏾Stephanie 👏🏾
I lowkey wish someone that genuinely likes Twilight could tell me one personality trait, interest, hobby or anything about Bella at all other than her wanting to become a vampire. We literally don't know anything about the girl other than her obsession with Edward. The girl has the range of a slice of bread and yet we're made to believe that everyone either wants to be her, be friends with her or be with her??? Erm chile anyways
I read the books ages ago but from what I recall: Bella is very stubborn and fearless, but like foolishly fearless. Yet she's generally super responsible and insecure wich also makes her frugal since expensive things are both unnecessary and noticable and Bella doesn't want to be perceived lol. She loves the sun and spends most of her time reading. It's because she's really into classics multiple shakespeare titles are mentioned! I also think she was interested in cars and/or music? It wouldn't surprise me if none of these things are conveyed properly by the movies though, they really misrepresented Bella imo. I interpreted the book as her _thinking_ she was plain and boring but in reality was quite attractive since everyone fell for her but in the movies she's just...plain and boring. If a cute, intelligent girl from a different city was the new kid in class and the quirky kind of clumsy I would've fallen head over heels for her!
@@char1211 That’s exactly how I interpreted the book as well. She was wayy more interesting in it and one of the things that I absolutely loved about her book counterpart is that she was a great cook whereas her own mother wasn’t. This to me gave her character because it showed her maturity. This was an interesting tidbit because once she moved in with Charlie he started getting home cooked meals, which, to me, symbolized him no longer feeling alone and having someone care for him. That plot line has a happy ending when, during the last Christmas mentioned in the book, vampire Bella sees Sue, Charlie’s new girlfriend, setting the table and she smiles because she knows Charlie is no longer alone and will be loved and cared for. But there’s also A LOT that I hate like the freaking imprinting shit. I wish I could rewrite the books lol
As someone who read it when I was in middle school and loved it (don’t worry, I grew out of it) I knew then that she didn’t have a personality, but I just inserted myself in it. She was basically a y/n and I just saw myself in there.
They all did Leah Clearwater so wrong. Imagine your cousin hooking up and playing happy families with YOUR boyfriend and everybody acts like you're the unreasonable one...and the only excuse for it is that he was being physically enslaved by fate or whatever to 'love' that woman. Leah was much nicer than I'd have been. I would have bitten their heads off the second I became a werewolf, honestly.
Twilight from Charlie's point of view would be interesting. Small town cop, just got his daughter back and now shits a mess. That sounds really interesting.
SleepyDoodle Imagine finding out that a supernatural war is being fought over your teenage daughter. I don’t even know how I would’ve reacted to finding out something like that.
literally ANYONE would’ve been better....there were soo many potential storylines from the other characters (like Kennie said- Rosalie’s story sounds absolutely amazing and exciting yet we get...boring town girl Bella and.. her love triangle jfc😭😫)
@@missserenity1090 im sad that he never found out that Bella and Edward were vampires..Charlie was literally my favorite so im sad that he just remained a side character..
"Maybe the end to racism is falling in love with a white passing Mexican women" so uhm- fun story- my grandpa was incredibly racist and just the absolute worst but then he goes to(some hispanic country I can't remember which) and meets this new woman(she's an absolute sweetheart and I adore her.) and got married to her and suddenly wasn't racist?? Yeaahhhhhh so that's a thing.
Thats...kinda good I guess? Usually it doesn't work that way tho as there have been countless racists who have had entire families with other races or even been revealed to be not "purely X" yet still will be racist. They'll just exclude the person they love as "one of the good ones" and move on. It's really insane and just tiring.
I imagine that sort of thing does sometimes happen in real life, but in general I would say the trope of "racist person falls in love with/befriends PoC and becomes nonracist" is very bad. Like the Dynast Queen mentioned, it's rarely a solution to long held biases, and it expects the Person of Color to essentially devalue themselves and do all this emotional support and handholding to get the white person to realize their own racism. This seems to show up a lot in media - including even other Bad Movies and a Beat films, like Neo Ned's extreme example - and I think it's a message that is unhealthy and should not be perpetuated.
@@zackshell995 i agree with you on legit everything you said also he was highkey a really shitty person all around and he probably was like that but i wouldnt know cus he just didnt talk to us much.
Yeah hate to break it to you... marrying a person of color does not negate racism. He didn't become antiracist by marrying a poc. He either put in work to be a better person or just did not voice his hatred as loudly while being married to a poc. Lol it's not difficult.
“Raised as a Catholic,[6][7] Lautner has Austrian, Dutch, English, French, German, Irish, and Swiss ancestry, and has stated that he has "distant" Native American ancestry (specifically Ottawa and Potawatomi) through his mother.[8][9]” LIFTED FROM HIS WIKI PAGE, HOLY-
Honestly if SMeyer had made Bella into a more manipulative person who was morally dubious but you still rooted for her because the guys she was taking advantage of were trash would be a really cool story. Her taking advantage of Edward to become a vampire and then bouncing could've been the real story of my preteens. But that would require a better writer I think.
Trigger Warning. When you talked about the trope in manga and anime, where a guy intimidates a girl up against a wall and forces a kiss on her while she struggles until she gives up, starkly reminds me of the reason why I stopped watching Evangelion on Netflix: the scene where Ryoji assaults Misato in the elevator. She tries to stop him but ends up going limp and just watches the floors tick by. And then he just laughs it off when she tells him not to do that again. I felt physically uncomfortable. No awesome robot battles are worth having to watch romanticized sexual assault. The twilight series is mainly that *gag*.
Petition for someone to write a Self-Insert Twilight fanfiction with Kennie as Bella Swan. I will throw my entire bank account at you just for that comedy gold.
The thing is Jacob would be an abusive bf, he is entitled with anger issues. He literally kissed Bella without her consent then acted confused when she was pissed off AND tired to tell HER what she was feeling... h-how -- whAT????
Hes wierd Edward at least tells Bella hes dangerous from the getgo and lets her make a choice Jacob is like...like Noah from Kissing Booth He wants her but doesnt want to be in a relationship with her(cause hes violent and shit) but he also doesnt want her to be with someone else
At least they fixed Charlie in the movie. When he finds out what Jacob did he's mad. Book Charlie, after finding out Jacob kissed Bella and she punched him so it obviously wasn't something she wanted, he's all like "good for you" to JACOB.
I don’t blame her for snuggling up to Jacob’s wolf form cause if there’s any large dog in my vicinity, it’s cuddle time. And a FLUFFY dog??? Oh mah God
Now that I’m older and the more I remember these movies and books, the more I realize that Bella probably had deep attachment and neglect issues from her mother’s deep obsession with her husband to the point where she’d rather travel the world with him than be a parent.
kennie j.d. I started watching you when I was about 16, I’m 19 now and with hindsight I want to thank you for being the few possible black rolemodels that were brave enough to travel fearlessly, you taught me about the world and showed me I belong everywhere I do dispute my skin color. I’m deeply empathetic and sad for you and you family durning this, if you never came back to TH-cam just know you made a difference in my life and have done more for me than you ever had to. Be safe and take your time!
In the twilight guidebook, Stephanie Meyer actually talks about how becoming a vampire whitewashes even the darkest skin, turning people into an "epitome of beauty." 😬😬😬
Rosalie's story is a great example of the side characters being more interesting than the main characters. Most of the side characters have backstories that would be interesting to read about (preferably in the hands of a better writer), but since this is ultimately Stephanie Meyer's fantasy, we don't have time for that. The main focus needs to be these two stale pieces of white bread and their toxic-yet-somehow-boring relationship, a long with a whiny and entitled third wheel. Those ideas are WASTED on this story and that's incredibly frustrating.
I think Edward is super interesting mostly after he was turned into a vampire. I really wanted to know more about what he did for a century alone. How he overcame his bloodthirst etc. How he was essentially a superhero saving people bc he could read minds.
Why do you have to mention that they are "white", and in a derogatory way?? What if black people were referenced that way? Would it still be "alright"? .. And vampires are generally known for being very pale because they are basically dead.
Rosalie was kind of the most interesting character. Though Charlie made me ugly laugh during a certain scene in Breaking Dawn(when Jacob's dumbass decides to reveal that he's a werewolf).
It took me until the 2nd movie to realize he was the handsome Cedrick Diggory from Harry Potter and a list of other things. Like I truly didn't recognize him. He looked sick af in Twilight. The makeup was horrible.
@@Lill2895 right!? I had the biggest crush on Cedric and I didn't realize until I watched Harry Potter again and it slapped me in the face that that was him! Pattison looks more like Edward regularly than he did in the movie
Its funny, all the twilight movies were in this past weekend. I had been telling my mom about these exact vids our girl makes on them, so my mother, who's never see the movies, watched them. I missed the first 2 & most of the 3rd, but her shrieking laughter had me wandering downstairs to watch the rest with her. Anyways, in the 4th & 5th movies, mom is like "oh, did they stop with the baby powder/red lip gloss lewks for movies?" The 3rd movie deffffff gave us to worst face, for sure, but it gets better (...?) in the next 2.
Yes I swear I said "no not that". I literally forgot the plot and everything about this movie, but the whole imprinting thing is one of the few things that I can't forget. I guess this is gonna be in my brain forever now smh.
This movie caused me physical pain. I can’t explain the amount of energy the twilight movies has drained from my being. They will be hearing from my lawyers.
That intimidation, the forcing a kiss, backing to the wall, I think we all loved it at some point. Then after growing up we realise is not romantic neither healthy... Btw...yes! Rose's story is so cool. Jasper's and Alice's as well.
I think it’s the desire that gets people like “wow this person really wants me” y’know? Like people want that loyalty and dedication in a relationship but sometimes it’s not always the best way.
Yeah so true. TRIGGER WARNING : SA I was in a very toxic relationship for over three years (15-18 yrs old) and then sexually assulted about a year ago. That of course is horrible on it's own but it also ruined SOOO much fanfiction and other romance shit that used to be my guilty pleasure . Hearing people like Kennie call out these trends is very validating. It was actually a youtube video that made me finally accept the gravity of what had happend to me. I'm going to therapy now and I have a fantastic boyfriend who supports me but it hurts. A part of my was truly broken and I will never forgive that
Not only hers but even Jasper's to see how he developed and hopefully changing his old views. Or even dad Cullen (the Dr ) in how he became a vampire or his whole journey of saving ppl. All the other Cullens n werewolves had way better back stories than the trio.
Me and my sister are disabled and we both need electric scooters to get around, she’s at college right now and while she was stopped a guy put her scooter in park (there’s a lever on the back that can do that) so she couldn’t move. It was an instant red flag to me and I couldn’t help thinking of Edward. He said he is just interested in mechanical things and wanted an excuse to fiddle around with her scooter but I told her anyone who is trying to stop you from being able to exit a situation is probably not someone you want to be around. Apparently he then “fixed” the problem he created and tried to make it an inside joke between them that she should make sure her scooter was in drive. It really bothered me especially when he gave her an Easter basket with a note that said “remember to keep it in drive” like how weird
Ew wtf. That’s weird definitely reminds me of when Edward altered her car so that she couldn’t see Jacob. Friggin toxic I’m so sorry for your sister and I hope that never happens to you.😞💖💖💖
More like Stephanie Meyer being a deluded creep trying to tie loose ends by giving Jacob a 'consolation prize' in the form of a midget Bella lookalike while still finding a reason to remain in Bella's life like some sort of family dog that no one wants.
My mom, aunt and sister like jacob and I'm 13 and I was like "he imprinted on a baby tho?" And their only excuse was this "you didn't read the books so you don't have an opinion" And I'm like bruh
Talking about ruining childhood obsession, i was a huge fan of this manga/anime series called Slam Dunk (late 80s) and i never realized how racist the main protagonist was to nickname the captain of the basketball team ‘Gorilla’ because he has a black guy aesthethic 😭😭😭
It’s worth noting that the reason Jacob’s voice doesn’t seem to fit his body is because Taylor Lautner was like, actually a teenager in this movie. He was 18 in this one, and like 16 in the first. Meanwhile all of the other “teenagers” in the cast were in their early to late 20’s
I feel like there was a missed opportunity to make a “she put the ‘ho’ in ‘holy’” pun, but maybe that’s just the result of me watching Bring It On too many times lol
When I was like 12 at a friend's bday sleepover she forced us to watch ALL of the twilight films in one sitting and the next day I woke up with a stomach bug and a fever. The doctor said it was a virus but I say it was the films.
Imprinting - or any other “destined” type concept is pretty much the least romantic thing ever. It’s basically a warning - don’t bother getting in a relationship with me, because someday I may inexplicably lose my free will and leave you for a random other person. I am a perpetual child who will never be able to make my own decisions about my sexual future. Romance!
it kind of reminds me of omega verse where the imprinting is a bite mark on the neck and the destined person is their soulmate and if they where to be close to their soulmate they would like go into heat or something and get the feeling of wanting to mate, they also immediately know that their soulmate is close by when that happens, the only difference is that it isn't a werewolf story and they have sub genders Alpha, Beta and Omega
You and me both on that whole toxic relationship obsession in the early teenage years. I remember the days I was obsessed with tsunderes in anime, the short flat chested female characters that yelled at or hit the male characters than later admitted the truth of their feelings. Maybe in the same episode, or an episode later or 5. I held out for those kind of characters. Looking back at the male protagonists in those shows, some of them definately got Stockholm syndrome and adjusted to the abuse and others just learned to brush it off and in the lucky case the main female character matured then everything was ok. But damn. The whole tsundere genre of anime shows are a case point in relationship toxicity, some of them are less bad than others, but they are toxic and leave a mark on impressionable young girls. Teaching them a form of violence is an ok way to express your feelings which can lead to a whole bunch of bad stuff. They become an abuser or they find it easy to cope with abuse.
That's why I like older tsundere characters because they weren't the violent ones. They just held back their feelings while still being grateful to their love interests, or had a deeper reason for why they tend to be standoffish because of betrayal or something that had happened. New tsundere......sssssssssss yeeeeeeaaaaah they are violent for no reason.
Honestly every other Cullen is more interesting than Edward and Bella. Like Carlisle deserved at least two books. And Rosalie's story has potential. Like why Edward and Bella of all people. Even Charlie Swan would have been better.
Ew Charlie tho? 😂 I liked book Edward. After vampirism he saved people bc he could read minds. Once he got his thirst under control Meyers could’ve made an entire super hero themed saga on Edward alone. But no, she chose to make it a love triangle 🙄
I literally just dealt with that "you don't know what you want" a month ago. I told someone I didn't want to date them anymore because we weren't a good fit. He said I was only saying that because of quarantine. I said no, he didn't respect my boundaries and I just did not want to see him anymore. He said I didn't know what I want and that we should date another 2 or 3 months, and THEN if I still felt that way he would let me end it. I have never blocked someone on all forms of communication so fast the sad thing is, 15 year-old-me would have given him the 2/3 months because it would have been 'romantic'. barf Thank you for making these kinds of videos so hopefully younger audiences can see these kinds of problematic relationships for what they are!
ohmyGODDDD this reminds me of my ex... he really told me i was making a mistake when i broke up with him. asked me the same thing: keep dating for a while then if i still felt that way then we can break up. he made me doubt myself and my feelings and really didn't respect my boundaries either... but i still broke it off and ended up blocking him everywhere too. thank god
I don't know if it is because i was never in a relationship, but I don't feel it's particularly toxic to ask you some more times together, like a second chance 🤔
fadwa that’s a fair point. But it was the repeated issue of pushing boundaries that made it an issue. Plus he was very much “let me break up” as opposed to asking for a second chance. There were also a few other warning signs. So it’s more about things compounding. Hopefully that makes more sense
fadwa oh yea i understand wanting a second chance! but after i broke it off, my ex had no concept of boundaries at all and was straight up harassing me you know?
Edward did tell Bella he was ok with an open relationship between her and Jacob but anyone who didn't read the books wouldn't know that. He told her to just be happy and she could have whatever part of him (Edward) she wanted. He was resigned to the fact that she was in love with Jacob and that she wanted him. She even asked Alice if she could see them together in the future. Bella just wanted to be a vampire more than she wanted to be married to/and have kids with Jacob. It's all so sad and useless smh. The movies suck so much.
22:38 "Where her book at?!" Girl, same. When I read that part for the first time, I was trying to figure out why we weren't following Rose all this time. Way more interesting story. All of them have a more interesting story than Bella, honestly. I mean, Stephanie can write a complete novella about Bree Tanner's second life as a short-lived vampire that has no name at all in the movie or the book that came before, but she can't bang out a few pages of Rosalie's first life?
The biggest disappointment for teenager me was my friends hyping this franchise up to me because they knew I loved to read only for it to end up reading like bad fanfiction i.e. stale characterisation and ignoring very bright red flags!
I went through the same thing. I had read Anne Rice's vampire chronicles and when this came out, a friend was telling me how great it was. She figured that I'd like it because I like vampires. But the second that she told me the vampires were "vegetarian"... 🙄 Unfortunately, my morbid curiosity got the better of me and I read the books and watched the movies with my *mom*. 😓
Rosalie's backstory was very interesting. Actually all the Cullens backstories were interesting and I would have loved to hear more. I really had sympathy for Rosalie in Eclipse. She needed her own book
Everybody in the Cullen clan has a more interesting backstory than Bella and Edward

@@msluvbug13 and Alice.
casually cruel damn, you’re right
i never noticed what you're saying that Bella's probably more in love with the idea of immortality than she is with Edward and you're absolutely right.
And the idea of being exceptional, in the books she was in awe of all the vampires and how they looked, now elegant they were
Hands down she is ... lol cause she loves Alice more than Edward lowkey 👀😬🤣🤣 & only becomes her true self after she turns ...
i've seen people argue that bella basically has no idea what being a vampire is actually like, because she sees it through the lense of what edward deigns to tell her which is basically nothing (because he's insanely controlling), so from her perspective it's just 'be hot and get a ready-made family' disease, especially when she turns and doesn't get the whole uncontrolable blood thirst thing. when that's all she knows, why wouldn't she take any opportunity to turn?

I feel like Twilight would have been better if Bella was a manipulator who was playing both sides in order to gain immortality. At least then her character decisions would make more sense.

For me, Rosalie and Leah deserves a book.
The author made us hate these women just for being scorned women with REAL emotions and REAL pain.
Sigh.
Theyre so interesting!! Ugh a missed opportunity 😭

Absolutely, the meme never gets old.
Or if you wanna go for an Old Hollywood example, look at Doctor Zhivago. Sure it’s a long movie, but a better love story than Twilight. To quote the novel, “Art always serves beauty, and beauty is the joy of possessing form, and form is the key to organic life since no living thing can exist without it.”
For writers like Meyer, beauty and form resemble their self-indulgent fantasies without any capacity for empathy for others. Or self-awareness, for that matter.

Didn't they talk trash about that, it must have been Leah because she was always blunt with her words.

He was close to roughing her up on her own damn wedding.
Hes wierd
Edward at least tells Bella hes dangerous from the getgo and lets her make a choice
Jacob is like...like Noah from Kissing Booth
He wants her but doesnt want to be in a relationship with her(cause hes violent and shit) but he also doesnt want her to be with someone else
At least they fixed Charlie in the movie. When he finds out what Jacob did he's mad. Book Charlie, after finding out Jacob kissed Bella and she punched him so it obviously wasn't something she wanted, he's all like "good for you" to JACOB.
@@ImmortalBroken Oh BOY.
I mean he was right about her feelings for him 🤷🏾♀️
I don’t blame her for snuggling up to Jacob’s wolf form cause if there’s any large dog in my vicinity, it’s cuddle time. And a FLUFFY dog??? Oh mah God
👏👏👏👏Adorable.
Honestly, same. I don't even find Jacob attractive, but I would 100% snuggle with him while he was in his wolf form.
GIRL HELLO 😭
Now that I’m older and the more I remember these movies and books, the more I realize that Bella probably had deep attachment and neglect issues from her mother’s deep obsession with her husband to the point where she’d rather travel the world with him than be a parent.
“they never really touch upon whether or not falling in love with alice resulted in him falling outta love with racism“ GIRL I AM SCREAMING
Kennie mimicking Jacob "being intimidating", bouncing on his heels and she's falling off screen omg
Ew
What
jesus christ like having paper white skin is the epitome of beauty
Ugh
ewww
I would like to know more of some of the dide characters as well.
In my opinion: Rose's story sounded more appealing than Bella's, Jacob's and Edward's little love triangle.
Rosalie was kind of the most interesting character. Though Charlie made me ugly laugh during a certain scene in Breaking Dawn(when Jacob's dumbass decides to reveal that he's a werewolf).
Charlie deserved better!
Twilight really did Robert Pattison dirty. He's so fine irl and his makeup in this movie was NOT IT 😫
It took me until the 2nd movie to realize he was the handsome Cedrick Diggory from Harry Potter and a list of other things.
@@nicoleshaura8097 hes so weird and funny, his personnality makes him attractive atleast
He looks like he takes showers rn
He's cute, but once I found out that he doesn't shower normally, all that cute went out the window, X_X
Anyone else get horrible middle school flashbacks when kennie said “imprinting” cuz-
Yes I swear I said "no not that".
It really was a vampiric movie huh?
“Ugh, she for the streets and I love it.” 😂😂🤦🏾♀️
Fucking fell out!!! 😂😂😂
Like people want that loyalty and dedication in a relationship but sometimes it’s not always the best way.
jaspers a whole confederate soldier😳
Yeah so true. TRIGGER WARNING : SA I was in a very toxic relationship for over three years (15-18 yrs old) and then sexually assulted about a year ago. That of course is horrible on it's own but it also ruined SOOO much fanfiction and other romance shit that used to be my guilty pleasure .
Hearing people like Kennie call out these trends is very validating. It was actually a youtube video that made me finally accept the gravity of what had happend to me. I'm going to therapy now and I have a fantastic boyfriend who supports me but it hurts. A part of my was truly broken and I will never forgive that
I really could have went my whole life without noticing that his hair was cut like Yoochun in purple line. I'm forever scarred😔
Welcome to the party, we got reserved seats 😂😂😂
@@mithanelan damn not the party I'm trynna go to
@@lulaisatwihard Kennie started it n reserved us all the seats yo 😂😂😂😂😂
22:33 That’s what I’m saying👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Rosalie’s backstory had more development and plot in its short time than all of these five movies put together.
Yess and I’ve always wanted to hear more about her story!
Not only hers but even Jasper's to see how he developed and hopefully changing his old views. Or even dad Cullen (the Dr ) in how he became a vampire or his whole journey of saving ppl. All the other Cullens n werewolves had way better back stories than the trio.
Punk Kitty
Yes so true. Now I really wanna hear Dr. Carlisle’s (Idk how to spell it) story!!!
I watched these movies when I was super young and now that I’m older I wish I could read a book dedicated to her
Me and my sister are disabled and we both need electric scooters to get around, she’s at college right now and while she was stopped a guy put her scooter in park (there’s a lever on the back that can do that) so she couldn’t move.
Friggin toxic I’m so sorry for your sister and I hope that never happens to you.😞💖💖💖
This movie is the proof that every other character in Twilight is more interesting than Bella, Edward and Jacob
what's gross is that jacob ends up imprinting on reneesme (bella & edward's child) while she was a BABY
Yeah I'll never get over that shit so awkward
More like Stephanie Meyer being a deluded creep trying to tie loose ends by giving Jacob a 'consolation prize' in the form of a midget Bella lookalike while still finding a reason to remain in Bella's life like some sort of family dog that no one wants.
And the whole reason he was "attracted" to Bella...was because he was actually attracted to Reneesme as a literal egg in Bella's ovaries.........
My mom, aunt and sister like jacob and I'm 13 and I was like "he imprinted on a baby tho?" And their only excuse was this "you didn't read the books so you don't have an opinion" And I'm like bruh
@@severussnape8040 oh my god! I laughed so hard!!! 🤣🤣
"Watch me buss it open like a cork" just took me tf out 😂😂😂😂
Talking about ruining childhood obsession, i was a huge fan of this manga/anime series called Slam Dunk (late 80s) and i never realized how racist the main protagonist was to nickname the captain of the basketball team ‘Gorilla’ because he has a black guy aesthethic 😭😭😭
Omg never realised that ...
tbh a lot of older anime/manga is pretty racist.. 😬
MAN I LOVE SLAM DUNK BUT I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THIS 😭😭
That's why I was never on that wave, Kuroko no basket was and STILL IS MY FAV sports anime!!
Oh shittttt you're here, I watch your videos like all the time
"White rich teens on spring break freshman year." That's like half the kids at my school.
It’s worth noting that the reason Jacob’s voice doesn’t seem to fit his body is because Taylor Lautner was like, actually a teenager in this movie. He was 18 in this one, and like 16 in the first. Meanwhile all of the other “teenagers” in the cast were in their early to late 20’s
the way I screamed at her bouncing out of frame
Me! 😂
I feel like there was a missed opportunity to make a “she put the ‘ho’ in ‘holy’” pun, but maybe that’s just the result of me watching Bring It On too many times lol
She does say Be a hoe but make it holy at 27:38 though.
When I was like 12 at a friend's bday sleepover she forced us to watch ALL of the twilight films in one sitting and the next day I woke up with a stomach bug and a fever.
The doctor said it was a virus but I say it was the films.
This is going to be a good one, love how she drags films especially this franchise😂🍿 All the nonsense is just hilarious😂😂
Romance!
Is it like mating in werewolf wattpad stories?
@@gracemaina6593 yes
it kind of reminds me of omega verse where the imprinting is a bite mark on the neck and the destined person is their soulmate and if they where to be close to their soulmate they would like go into heat or something and get the feeling of wanting to mate, they also immediately know that their soulmate is close by when that happens, the only difference is that it isn't a werewolf story and they have sub genders Alpha, Beta and Omega
I have never blocked someone on all forms of communication so fast
the sad thing is, 15 year-old-me would have given him the 2/3 months because it would have been 'romantic'. barf
Thank you for making these kinds of videos so hopefully younger audiences can see these kinds of problematic relationships for what they are!
ohmyGODDDD this reminds me of my ex... he really told me i was making a mistake when i broke up with him. asked me the same thing: keep dating for a while then if i still felt that way then we can break up. he made me doubt myself and my feelings and really didn't respect my boundaries either... but i still broke it off and ended up blocking him everywhere too.
@@fad9236 There's a difference between wanting a second chance and demanding it.
No one:
Not even Edward:
Kennie: *Neutered.*
Jacob: "So PiCK mE. CHoOsE Me. LoVE Me!"
Lol
"I got a boyfriend stop playing, his undead and everything"😂
"Hit her from the back and her spine pops"😂😂😂😂
I can't omg
Please do Jennifer’s Body, it isn’t a bad movie though. Just really underrated.
The movie is not bad at all but it is in some parts repetitive and boring.
I really enjoyed that movie, I would love to see Kennie do that one!
Had a lot of great one liners.
@@Mya112701 She has spoke about a movie that wasnt bad before.
Yes please, I second the request
"Be hOe, but make it hOley" am I surprised that another classic line has immerged from kennie's lips?
No, not at all
Can we please get a rosalie book 😭
Honestly every character EXCEPT edward Jacob or bella
.....Like, Bella is a whole ass goal in this. Also, "bust it open like a cork" is now a catchpharse
“Run Rosalie her check!” PERIODT
legit twillingt would be way more interesting if it focused on LITERALLY every single OTHER character. like they have amazing backstories
Lenin’s Mausoleum has subtler red flags than Twilight...
Rosalie's backstory was very interesting. Actually all the Cullens backstories were interesting and I would have loved to hear more. I really had sympathy for Rosalie in Eclipse. She needed her own book
The “Debby Ryan” hair tuck SLAYED me 🤣🤣🤣
