It’s a fun movie but it does have some really heavy parts, like when the little girl is crying because she is feeling like she is losing memories of her mom… who she literally got in a car crash with and watched die. I do like how they balance it out with Megan’s character though. Especially in that moment.
I'm also glad she spoke up about of the aunt wasn't a fit parent and accurately criticizing her about it. I remember a conversation I had with my mom (which really solidified she isn't very mature) about a movie were a child lost her parents and had to stay with her uncle who didn't want kids. They were arguing and my mom was like "that's like the worst thing you could say to someone who is trying to take care of you" I don't remember what the girl said but mind you she's like 8 max. I tried explaining to my mom that the girl is a CHILD who is trying to process the emotions of lossing her parents and having her life completely changed, while her uncle is a grown ass adult who is much more capable of coping with the a loss and from his VERY nice apartment could afford therapy. After explaining this my mom was like, "So her feelings are more valid than his?" Well....KINDA YEAH!!! "That's not fair! He lost his brother!" And you want this CHILD who can't be any older than 8 to be completely sympathetic to that and say "well you don't have to be a good parent to me because you lost your brother, I completely understand 😊". SHE'S 8! No it isn't fair, but she lost her FATHER, her home, her friends because she has to go to a different school her life was completely changed and she has to process all of that at such a young age. How could you possibly think they are equal in this situation? If she was older maybe I'd get where you were coming from a little more, but she's not.

Okay, M3Gan 2 is coming out in 2025, and they're gonna need to take the camp element from a 10 to a 20. I need to see MULTIPLE little robot girls wreacking havoc on a city while doing the noodle dance while "Build a B*tch" by Bella Poarch plays in the background. I want this to be basically a setup to a Terminator-esque universe, except instead of arnold schwarzenegger, it's little robot girls doing TikTok dances. I also see the potential forcrossovers with this one, so I hope to see a Chucky vs. M3gan in the future. Or even a M3gan vs. Annabelle. THere could be a thing where you'd think Annabelle would have the upper hand, because she's basically possessed by a demon, but then we find out that her powers have no effect on M3gan because she's an athiest, and also, she's a machine, and therefore has no soul to reap, and then she starts doing her TikTok dance while Annabelle runs for her life.
Brandon Rogers made a video that was basically an nsfw-ish version of M3gan vs Annabelle, definitely wasn’t what I was expecting but it was definitely something. Still got a laugh out of it though.

Me and my family went to see it in theatres and when I tell you the theater LOST IT when she started singing Titanium. I couldn't fully recover for a good twenty minutes.

I knew I was going to see M3gan when I saw the trailer for it. My sister, my sister-in-law, and I had plans, snuck in our own liquor and made cocktails, we were ready to laugh at this movie. We had a great time! 😂

I felt the exact same way you did, i think a big part of it is that it was rated R which i assume meant more bloody, campy, outlandish antics but since seeing that megan went viral on tiktok, they cut it to PG13. And it feels watered down in that sense.
I agree. Like it felt like they advertised a really campy horror comedy which I was all in for, but I felt mislead when I actually saw it. It wasn't funny enough or scary enough; the only thing it really committed to was the family drama which wasn't bad necessarily, but it's not what I bought a ticket to see.
And people are still overhyping this as "it's so campy!!" And it's kinda giving "this chicken is well seasoned" because you added a bit of paprika after the salt and pepper.
I didn't even think the family drama was that strong either tbh. This movie suffers (imo, before ppl come for my neck) from not fully committing to anything/knowing what it wanted to be, and from almost every character being an asshole.

Literally just got back from watching this in cinemas with my friends (got the notification once I made it home). It was a 10/10 experience, we were dying throughout the whole thing.
I felt EXACTLY the same way! I saw it with my dad and the audience was not feeling it; combined with how little camp there really was, it felt very lackluster. I should note that I also don't use social media so I was aware of the hype but not experiencing it firsthand. Being removed from all that helped me watch it more objectively, which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.

Yesss! I saw M3gan a couple of days ago and my friend and I were laughing our asses off but the rest of the audience was barely reacting. It would have been so fun with a full theatre of people who reacted.
I'm queer and I went with a group of friends who are also all queer, and the two rows of people seated in front of us in the theater were all queer. It was honestly the most fun theater experience I've had
I think the dance worked for me because there was the singing before it, the random narrator voice when she was reading to Gemma, the dog run in the woods, and her sassy attitude.. so when she hit that dance I was like “yeah that sounds about right”… and all of her k*lls could be traced back to a personal vendetta or Katie’s mistreatment. I do think it’s funnier with the right people, but I also like that the movie had a distinct moral story. I also think that the genre of the movie might not have been what it was marketed as. All in all, I’m ready for the sequel
honestly yeah this makes sense! i went with a rowdy group and the audience was SCREECHING and it was THE perfect experience, it immediately became my movie of the year, idc that it's january i'm sticking by that lolol. i do hope the behind the scenes people realize how much campier it can be for the sequels cuz it really has potential to be one of the funniest mix of 'horror' (or at least horror-adjacent) and comedy

I definitely agree that the movie suffered from bad marketing, but to me that's what made it so much better. Like I went into M3GAN expecting a terrible January horror film, but walked out with currently one of my favourite movies of 2023.

Saw It with my bf because the movie theatre posted the wrong time for the movie we were supposed to see. This movie was not the best thing ever but it wasn’t terrible. It was actually better than I thought it would be. Very cliche of course, but it was fun to watch and there were parts that were hysterical -her singing randomly and the dance in the hall. Funny. It’s not meant to be taken seriously. The part where she is talking to m3gan about coping with her parents death almost made me cry and then m3gan randomly started singing wildly off key 😂 It was def worth watching and I’d absolutely watch it again.

I haven't seen it, but the ad with the dancing felt like such a try-hard, calculated attempt at going internet viral that I kind of figured the film wouldn't be very good. Also, I appreciate how Kennie discusses the aunt as someone not prepared or equipped, not totally villainizing her (yeah K called the aunt kinda shitty, but K was more chill and understanding than many folks) for not knowing how to handle suddenly being a parent to a school age child.
Also surprisingly the movie doing good because it was released in the traditional movie dump that is January. Where they released movies that they think won't do very well. Although they might have to rethink that considering a lot of people don't go to movie theaters anymore it's all about streaming. And if you have a good surround sound system you can get the movie experience at home now.

Okay so the dancing bit? In context it fully made sense. The boss guy she dances at is in charge of her product launch, so the dance she does is basically what he expects of her on stage. She dances like a soulless doll going viral on the internet in the face of the man trying to SELL HER, as she approaching him with the intention of killing him. 10/10
me and my mates watched M3GAN last night and i think it was the best night of my life, we were CRYING in the movie theatre seats, everytime we laughed the whole theatre would BURST into laughter with us because it was just so unbelivably funny. but then there were parts where the movie just went hard ASF. ill never understand why they added the bits where Megan was singing but the second she started singing Titanium the whole theatre just cracked up, such a 'so bad it's good' movie honestly.
My life has been..lifeing and I haven't watched a Kennie video in so long. Had a tough night and finally clicked on a video. Within seconds I felt so cozy and safe. It really is amazing how much these videos comfort.
I had such a blast with this movie it got the job done of being an entertaining movie. The first act before M3GAN arrives it’s kinda boring but the moment she does show up it’s a blast from there. I love M3GAN too she’s so creepy when she wants to be but she’s absolutely hilarious whether it’s intentional or unintentional (when she sand titanium I burst out laughing 😂). Can’t wait for the sequel on January 17 2025.

I felt the exact same way you did, i think a big part of it is that it was rated R which i assume meant more bloody, campy, outlandish antics but since seeing that megan went viral on tiktok, they cut it to PG13. And it feels watered down in that sense.
I agree. Like it felt like they advertised a really campy horror comedy which I was all in for, but I felt mislead when I actually saw it. It wasn't funny enough or scary enough; the only thing it really committed to was the family drama which wasn't bad necessarily, but it's not what I bought a ticket to see.
And people are still overhyping this as "it's so campy!!" And it's kinda giving "this chicken is well seasoned" because you added a bit of paprika after the salt and pepper.
I didn't even think the family drama was that strong either tbh. This movie suffers (imo, before ppl come for my neck) from not fully committing to anything/knowing what it wanted to be, and from almost every character being an asshole.

I felt EXACTLY the same way! I saw it with my dad and the audience was not feeling it; combined with how little camp there really was, it felt very lackluster. I should note that I also don't use social media so I was aware of the hype but not experiencing it firsthand. Being removed from all that helped me watch it more objectively, which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.

I think the dance worked for me because there was the singing before it, the random narrator voice when she was reading to Gemma, the dog run in the woods, and her sassy attitude.. so when she hit that dance I was like “yeah that sounds about right”… and all of her k*lls could be traced back to a personal vendetta or Katie’s mistreatment. I do think it’s funnier with the right people, but I also like that the movie had a distinct moral story. I also think that the genre of the movie might not have been what it was marketed as. All in all, I’m ready for the sequel
honestly yeah this makes sense! i went with a rowdy group and the audience was SCREECHING and it was THE perfect experience, it immediately became my movie of the year, idc that it's january i'm sticking by that lolol. i do hope the behind the scenes people realize how much campier it can be for the sequels cuz it really has potential to be one of the funniest mix of 'horror' (or at least horror-adjacent) and comedy

I definitely agree that the movie suffered from bad marketing, but to me that's what made it so much better. Like I went into M3GAN expecting a terrible January horror film, but walked out with currently one of my favourite movies of 2023.

Saw It with my bf because the movie theatre posted the wrong time for the movie we were supposed to see. This movie was not the best thing ever but it wasn’t terrible. It was actually better than I thought it would be. Very cliche of course, but it was fun to watch and there were parts that were hysterical -her singing randomly and the dance in the hall. Funny. It’s not meant to be taken seriously.
The part where she is talking to m3gan about coping with her parents death almost made me cry and then m3gan randomly started singing wildly off key 😂

I haven't seen it, but the ad with the dancing felt like such a try-hard, calculated attempt at going internet viral that I kind of figured the film wouldn't be very good. Also, I appreciate how Kennie discusses the aunt as someone not prepared or equipped, not totally villainizing her (yeah K called the aunt kinda shitty, but K was more chill and understanding than many folks) for not knowing how to handle suddenly being a parent to a school age child.

Also surprisingly the movie doing good because it was released in the traditional movie dump that is January. Where they released movies that they think won't do very well. Although they might have to rethink that considering a lot of people don't go to movie theaters anymore it's all about streaming. And if you have a good surround sound system you can get the movie experience at home now.

Okay so the dancing bit? In context it fully made sense. The boss guy she dances at is in charge of her product launch, so the dance she does is basically what he expects of her on stage. She dances like a soulless doll going viral on the internet in the face of the man trying to SELL HER, as she approaching him with the intention of killing him. 10/10

me and my mates watched M3GAN last night and i think it was the best night of my life, we were CRYING in the movie theatre seats, everytime we laughed the whole theatre would BURST into laughter with us because it was just so unbelivably funny. but then there were parts where the movie just went hard ASF. ill never understand why they added the bits where Megan was singing but the second she started singing Titanium the whole theatre just cracked up, such a 'so bad it's good' movie honestly.

I had such a blast with this movie it got the job done of being an entertaining movie. The first act before M3GAN arrives it’s kinda boring but the moment she does show up it’s a blast from there. I love M3GAN too she’s so creepy when she wants to be but she’s absolutely hilarious whether it’s intentional or unintentional (when she sand titanium I burst out laughing 😂).
