I think the reason Ellie let Abby live is because she knew it would result in Lev hunting her for revenge and she wasn't prepared to kill him (who was an innocent third-party at that point) to prevent that from happening.

Think your theory for the end definitely would have made the game better, you make valid points about the characters, the games not perfect it's got flaws I think my biggest problem is the third act as we are introduced to a group of enemies who just seem to have been put there just for the sake of it and I'd lost interest in all the characters by that point

Is the combat in The Last of Us 2 different from the first game?

It’s a little more fluid and they added a dodging feature. It’s also very brutal lol

Adding clips from the games you review would make a big difference in the audience following along with you and having examples of what you're saying

I did feel the story got very convoluted and the Abby section dragged so long. Then we got the DinaxEllie stuff towards the end and MORE revenge plot. It was just too much where the first game was simpler.

Second. The game wasn't as bad as everyone said it is. The whole point of this game is to help the main character grow as a person in an chaos scenario, it was basically a no win situation for both the character Abby and Ellie. I do agree Joel death was kind of wasted but it wouldn't be good if Joel had lived mainly because there would be no character development, both characters couldn't move on.

Loved the game, but I do agree the combat and pacing could've been better. I think Abby has always been a softie, but when her dad died she was consumed by rage and that's why she became such a ruthless killer. Abby helping those two kids (who saved her life btw) is what finally made me not hate her anymore lol. Also, I'm glad we couldn't chose the ending, Ellie made this choice for herself unlike when Joel made a choice for her by saving her from the Fireflies. Ellie’s decision to spare Abby is her way of forgiving Joel through her.

I didn't start to like Abby until after the island rescue chapter which occurs much much later in the game. Before then, whenever an enemy closed distance and was pummeling or biting Abby I just let go of the controller most of the time heh. Strangely I enjoyed the gameplay and story overall but like you, I also felt there were several times throughout the game where it dragged on too long and I kept hoping it would just EFFIN END. If a PS5 version of the game is released I will definitely double dip and replay it just to marvel at the prettier graphics.

I enjoyed the game where it mattered most for me. I don’t know if having the choice to kill Abby would resolved anything, or make further sense to the overall story goal of Ellie for this game. I probably wouldn’t kill her to be honest. That’s why I’m kinda like eh it’s fine. I know feelings on Abby is very divisive. You can argue Ellie throughout the game has already done enough. Even we as the player early on just want to avenge our beloved character’s death. I would be intrigued to see the choice outcome sure. But I don’t know if it make things better for her character or resolved things fully. Everything is complex. We didn’t get Abby’s story for the sake of padding the game. Even though it effected the pace some. There’s a lot of compelling reasons why the story lacked or wasn’t what we felt could of been. Especially since the whole themed seem to be about would revenge fix things. Make you questioned is it worth it. I mean Abby could of killed Ellie when they killed Joel. But she spared her.

Even though Abby did kind of grow on me as the game progressed. I would have totally killed her as well. I love Joel's character and hated seeing him being brutally murdered.

      Has to stop somewhere dude...
Ellie chose to stop it. Forgive...
She took everything away from Abby.

@@MKhavik It stops with Abby's bloated corpse being eaten by sharks. :)

Only problem is, what about Lev? He at that point had suffered alot, being banned from his group, sister died, and he accidentally killed his mom...Abby was all he had and Abby dying would have probably been the end of his last sanity.

I didn’t care for the ending bc Ellie lost Dina and JJ to go kill Abby and not ending up killing her she lost everything....by going for revenge and not sticking to her goal she lost her love :( if I were Ellie I wouldn’t of gone but that’s just me

I think if you could pick in the end rather to let her go or kill her would be pretty dumb lol. No offense. I just dont see how that could carry over into another game. Theyd have to make 2 different games? Because its obvious abby and the kid will be a big part of the next game. I think it should've ended with ellie empathizing with abby and them fighting a final boss together. I also think abby is immune like ellie.

You know I honestly think you really nailed my feelings about the game. The story was a mess and taking away the one chance to give the players the chance to determine the ultimate ending just really pissed me off and left me angry. Overall the game is beautiful but I have no desire to return to it to 100%. Great review.

Completely disagree with you on the gameplay. In fact it’s significantly better then the first game I can confidently say. I don’t know how you felt about the first game’s gameplay. Story on the other hand, it was alright. Wasn’t the most amazing thing for sure.

A lot of people died to get Ellie to the Fireflies and in the end it was all for nothing, so u cant say u love the first ending and hate the second one.

0:48, the funny thing about this is that if ellie actually stopped to relax, admire the view a rethink stuff, she would have 2 more fingers and be raising a baby with the love of her life 🤦‍♂️
    PS: oops, SPOILER ALERT!!

I've LOVED all that naughtydog games have brought to the table, & the last of us part 2 is equally as incredible. It's intense & gritty & gory, & despite all controversy wasn't afraid to have a dark grim ending. While at the same time leaving room for a hopeful third chapter.
I ABSOLUTELY agree with having the choice to either kill or spare Abby. That would've been the coolest thing. Personally I didn't think she was a bad person, & her side of the gameplay showed that side of her. Arguably I would have spared her, she was meant to live with the grief of what she did. Although the story isn't perfect, I really admire & respect the game.🤗🔪🏹

Having not killed Abby it makes the whole experience seem like an absolute waste of time after that ending. Let's say you kill Abby then you go back, girl is gone, can't even play the damn guitar "I lost all of this for getting revenge" (see story with a moral).... Instead... Wow I lost everything and I didn't even do that! Also I didn't like Ellie's attitude never changed in the whole thing. Like if Ellie knew they were about to lobotomize Joel maybe she would have done the same thing he did in his place. I mean she did kill probably hundreds of people to avenge his death.
