    I learned so much putting this video together and I hope you did too. I think one of the biggest threats on America today is those in power trying to erase/re write history. America used to value modesty and it used to value the Bible. It’s clear to see that we were not better for it and the way that seems right to a man truly leads to destruction. I pray for more women to realize that there is true power in wearing more, not wearing less. God bless you! See you for the next one!

      Tay, the real reason they don't value the Bible like they used to, is because God NEVER truly helped these people. They died, or they're stuck up in a tent somewhere. It isn't because of the Devil or some dark magic bull...it's just the way life is. 😐
      And the Bible's laws are completely outdated, and it's no inspired Word of God.

    I’m a Christian toddler mom in my late 20s and I’m 7 months pregnant with baby #2. I dress modestly but I love wearing floral dresses and doing my hair in braids etc etc. A few days ago I took my son to play group and this 3yr old came up to me and said in awe ‘wow your a pretty princess!’ She continued to stare at me after 🥺 I was wearing a blue flowered dress with a blue knit sweater on top and braided hair. Nothing fancy, but I guess not super common. She made me feel like a Disney princess 😂 that solidified to me how even just dressing fully covered in flowy outfits with pretty fabrics has a big effect on those around us, especially children!

    As an older woman with "figure flaws" who always dresses modestly, men and boys of all ages almost always open doors for me. I try to remember to thank them, particularly the young ones. Men need encouragement to be chivalrous, as we need encouragement to be modest in dress, manner, and conduct.

      Chivalry is what has caused this decline in female behavior. Women feel entitled to receive special treatment from men, even though they haven't done anything to deserve it.

    • @hf3739
      @hf3739 วันที่ผ่านมา +20

      No, chivalry is never outdated. Mind you, as a woman I hold doors open for whoever is approaching/coming out behind me, regardless of whether it’s a man or a woman. But I agree with the basic premise that going about half naked or in skin-tight clothing is like advertising your wares. Dressing modestly doesn’t have to mean dressing boringly - it just shows a woman places greater value on her body as not something to be displayed publicly.

    • @nerychristian
      @nerychristian วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      @@hf3739 Chivalry would not be a problem if women also treated men with the same respect. But society has become anti-male, and women rarely go out of their way to treat men in any special way. The attitude of women is "I have a vagina, therefore you need to open the door for me, you need to pull out my chair, you need to carry my things, you need to pay my bills, you need to buy me things, you need to put up with my emotional outbursts, you need to place yourself in harm's way for me, etc".

    In 2009, I read a book called Dressing with Dignity by Colleen Hammond. It rocked my world. Chapter 4 talks about some of the things you mentioned and also the nefarious plot of the men in power to bring down the level of virtue in women by manipulating fashion. I was outraged that women played into their plot. I rebelled the opposite way and got rid of my pants, shorts and low cut, sleeveless tops. I put them in the garbage where they belonged. I started raising my daughters with better standards than what I grew up with. It has made such a positive difference in our lives.

      I think it devolved in to full-scale meltdown because men have been watching more porn than in days gone by. The young women are trying to be what they think that men desire. The inflated chest, the elephant behind, and the puffed up lips to look like a blow-up doll or porn star. You know something is wrong with society when it takes surgery to be considered ideal.

There is a growing Tradwife movement of young women returning to traditionalism, which includes modesty in dress...some even back to the elegant styles of 1940s/1950s, including house-dresses. This is a dangerous attitude for women to fall back into. As with all things in life, some men (and women) are good and some are bad. A woman must think for herself and do what's right for her and her family independant of the man's wishes if they are wrong. If the man's values and ideals mesh with yours, then great. If not you must do what's right for you and your family at all costs or you will undoubtably live in misery.

For "man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” - 1 Samuel 16:7 Many women can appear modest outwardly, but inwardly are full of malice, hatred, envy, pride, and all sorts of wickedness.

No woman should have to cover herself from head to toe just becasue if they don't it might inspire lustful or sexual thoughts in the men, that is wrong. It is not the fault of the woman that the man cannot control himself and that he looks at the woman as a sexual object and not a person. Do people think that men should cover themselves because it might spark a woman's sexual interest? Of course not. It's double standard and wrong. Women have the right to dress as they please and if men cannot control themselves, that's their problem, not hers.

      @@christrites4251 It is not mandatory in Islam to for a women to cover her face, hands, feet, etc., but to simply cover her hair, private regions, and not wear tight or see-through clothing. It is also worth mentioning, however, that in Islam it is mandatory for BOTH men and women to dress modestly. The rules you see in corrupt, extremist Muslim countries do not represent Islam but how leaders have twisted religion to take advantage of people. (It's shameful to see how a lot of Muslim countries are trying to represent Islam when they're not even following anything in the Islamic religion.)
      It is true that at the end of the day if a man decides to think sexually of a woman and act on it, it does not matter what clothes she wore, etc. However, as an extra precaution it is required in Islam to dress modestly so women will not be harassed or attract unwanted attention.
      Also, on the double standard you mentioned, I believe you are right - but to an extent. At the end of the day, we have to acknowledge that men and women are made different psychologically. Men have a higher sex drive than women which is why it is necessary for women to take extra precautions - women also have a sex drive, but it is related to things more than just physical. For men, it's mostly physical, and that's just how most of them are psychologically wired. However, I am not disregarding the fact that women can still be attracted to men physically, it's just that most of the time, for men that desire and urge is higher.
      However, men and women should still dress modestly - men shouldn't go around shirtless for no reason and the same applies to women. So in my opinion and according to Islam, modesty goes both ways and both genders should practice it. :)

You become 'cheap', as people used to call it. Within a marriage, the couple has nothing private and special. And you lose your dignity and value of self.
    Some of these same women complain about creepy men looking at them as if they weren't displaying it in the first place. Obviously I'm not condoning harassment, but you're giving them a lot to look at. Having a man drool over your body is more oppressive than wearing a dress

    Excellent video. I agree 100%.
    Some mistakes you made about fashion history:
    1.) Women didn't wear corsets in the 1700s. They wore stays. And they weren't suffocating. Corsets were worn in the 1800s and only when they were "tight laced" were they suffocating and regular women rarely did that.
    2.) The change in fashion from WWI was greatly influenced by fabric shortages. Skirts had to be shorter. Clothing became simplier. Fabric was needed to clothe soldiers instead. This effect happened with WWII as well. And yes, it was also from women working jobs that men normally did.
    3.) The 1980s was not the first time women's fashion was greatly influenced by menswear. If you look at the dresses and blouse styles of the 1940s you can see the influence from mens military uniforms. But the 1980s did take it further.
    A large influence has also been the introduction and wide spread use of fabrics made from petroleum such as polyester and acrylic. They trap in heat and moisture to the body. So the same outfit of a blouse and long skirt made from them will be much harder to wear and not be comfortable as opposed to one made from natural fibers such as cotton and linen and wool. It is no wonder women complain that they are hot in modest clothing when they are wrapping themselves in plastic!
    I also think you hit the nail on the head when you said that in the 1950s that people in the limelight (actresses and singers) had (and still have) a huge influence on fashion. Each generation seems to want to shock is even more to gain notoriety. It has been a race to the bottom.
    I've never understood why it is empowering or acceptable for women to walk around in skin tight or revealing clothes when men don't dress like that. I normally don't advocate for women trying to be like men, but here is a way that we should be following them!
    Keep up the good work!

    (From England). You're absolutely correct. I have to say as a man I'm much more comfortable being around women who dress modestly ESPECIALLY if a woman is beautiful. A woman wearing next to nothing is in part, intimidating, because in this age of feminist attitudes it presents a contradiction for men: no longer should men wolf whistle, no longer should they lustfully stare, but look a woman in the eye and not look down at her cleavage ... but what if there's a lot of cleavage showing, a lot of butt popping out of extra short cut down jeans? Isn't she dressing that way to arouse sexual attention? Which way does she want to be treated? Who knows? Best thing is not go near, for safety's sake, or you could be accused of something. I remember getting a late night train from London on which there were a group of young women who'd just left the night clubs. They were wearing VERY little, exposing a lot of skin with net stockings, super-short skirts or shorts - provocative, sexy stuff. It was standing room only and I was having to gaze at the ceiling, because after a night of drinking and having fun, they had quite an aggressive air, talking loudly and dare I say, 'Immodestly' - and if I wear a young guy, I would not dare go near! You never know how they would react to anything from a man - you could be humiliated in front of a compartment full of other passengers. I recommend TH-cam entries with Louise Perry.

      You should think more before commenting. Consider that there are many 12-15 year-old girls who dress ‘immodestly’ because it’s the current way of dressing. They don’t see it as sexually as you do, and who don’t want to be sexualised (and shouldn’t).

    Coming from a historical costumer, it's not true that all clothing was modest in the 1700s and 1800s. While the skirts were very long, evening gowns often showed way too much cleavage to be deemed remotely modest. Some of the styles were actually a little shocking. Day dresses, however, typically had a lot more coverage in the upper bodice. That being said, I love that you're discussing modesty!

    • @hopetikvah4906
      @hopetikvah4906 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Exactly this! The idea that women 'back then' were universally more modest than women now is ahistorical. Working women absolutely showed their ankles and lower legs throughout history. Georgian and Regency dress styles were often so low cut that they exposed the nipples- something which would be considered much more scandalous now than then. Regency dresses were often made from such fine muslin, that they were transparent. Likewise, Victorian evening dresses exposed plenty of cleavage and the arms. And women were certainly wearing trousers long before the sexual revolution. This is also an EXTREMELY European/American centric view, which ignores that women from other parts of the world were not dressing like this at all, and it would have been culturally foreign to them. Women also were using other forms of contraception and engaging with multiple sexual partners long, long before the invention of 'the pill'. This idea that people historically were more moral on the whole than people today is largely erroneous, and dare I say, is reminiscent of the fascist ideal of returning to a fantasy version of the past.

    I will add to the line you said... "This society that doesn't value sex and as a result doesn't value modesty..." Has gotten to the point where those things have led to not valuing marriage. Which is because it doesn't value love. Which is because it doesn't value God. The rebellion that other people have commented about that people that are in that rebellion might not realize and/or would never admit is true. God help us. I know it's not everyone in this country but we that believe are becoming outnumbered if we aren't already. I pray everyday that God helps this country.

      @@gelsey5783The simple fact that he used that impure word as if it's a positive thing means you shouldn't even listen to anything he says. Just simply dress modestly. No truly good man would view it as "sexy", because no good man views anything as "sexy", only beautiful if anything. All sinful men will have impure thoughts towards you no matter how you dress. The point of dressing modestly is upholding your own dignity and by extension the dignity of your family and future family.

    The invention of the safety bicycle liberated travel for women and helped promote the "sensible clothing" movement away from long ruffled skirts.
    The flappers were actually an androgynous movement that promoted short hair, straight lines and flat chests (as much as possible) perhaps as a way to promote gender equality after the suffrage movement.
    Men are naturally more visually oriented so there was a clear effort to make them look.

I had a nice career as a physician, but never found the true love I was searching for. I just never found women without virtue attractive for marriage, and thanks to these societal changes, almost all women lacked virtue and so I did not find them to be marriage material. It has been a very lonely life, but I am not a man who can easily let go of my values.

    Morality is a slippery slope downward. The dress these days is shocking and repulsive. It’s difficult to go out in public, having to see women in bras and lingerie everywhere we go. As a married woman with a husband and children it’s causes so much stress and anxiety. What’s worse is that men and women are less happy, more depressed, lonely and unfulfilled than ever. More people are single or divorced than ever before in history which is directly related to loneliness and depression z

    Many women came from relatively cool/gray northern European climates, where more clothes and more covering were practical. As they moved to the Midwest and southern states those heavy warm clothes were no longer practical. Women in Hawaii never wore them. The native Indian women dressed far more practically. So, I think to some degree the shift for the 18th and 19th centuries was partially just being realistic and practical for the US climate and living conditions. I don't believe northern Europe should get to define or be a reference for modest clothing for the rest of the world.

      AHA! This is what is prevalent in many religious commentaries, the attempt to frame one culture through the lens of another. I mean there are still parts of the world where women walk bare-breasted and with very little clothing otherwise except to cover their private parts. Are we to think that these people are being immodest in their wear? Who are we to say that when God covered Adam and Eve's nakedness that it was not in similar fashion and if he did, what is our rationale for wearing so much clothes today and deem it 'modest' to do so?
