Body positivy is a misunderstood topic and is horrible to see how people who doesn't belong to the movement misrepresents the main purpose of it. The movement was created with the objective to change our perspective about our bodies, entitled people to love themselves no matter how you look because if you are overweight and you decided to change it from the perspective of self-hatred you are going to end up with a eating disorder or worse. For us in the movement, it is essential that the change comes from a place of love where you are grateful for having a body that moves you, because your limbs are healthy, because your body allows you to experience the world around you and only then you are gonna be able to make better decisions and achieve the best version of yourself. For some the goal will be to lose weight, others will have the goal of just moving more and exercising more, others will just want to look aesthetically better, etc. and all of these representations are valid. If you can´t love yourself, you will ended up taking the worst decisions about losing weight and you will put your life at risk by submitting yourself to strict diets, you will buy “miracle” drugs that promise to make you lose weight in 3 months and you are not even sure what they contain or you will stop eating and maybe you will lose weight but it will be at the expense of your health.

I remember after I broke 200 lbs I wasn't picking fights with my partner, or feeling insecure about my body. My relationship with myself and my SO was thriving and I finally started being able to love deeply like I wanted. I felt alive, because I had pride in myself for working so hard. The insecurity is insane and a demon when you're overweight. These people are straight up capping if they say they don't feel insecure. I used to make all those excuses too, but we have to care for ourselves and be honest. I’m only 19 and I have high blood pressure. For the longest time I lied to myself just so I could stay comfortable. One day I just sat down with myself and realized, although life is hard and there are many challenges, I want to live for my son. I’ve been doing better now. I’ve lost almost 20lbs and I’ve started going to the gym. I’m looking forward to see more results and be a healthier version of me. I suggest other people try. It’s not telling someone who’s medically obese that they are huge and need to lose so much wieght. It’s telling them that they are in a farther term than other people their age. Being obese is NOT a bad thing until it becomes unhealthy, it’s a word that is used to define someone but it does not HAVE to be a bad word.

It’s extremely discouraging to put the work in for these last 2 years and only having seen I lost 10 pounds, my goal is I would like to lose 60 pounds, during my pregnancy I was in bed rest and gained much more weight than I intended, and after birth I did lose some weight but I had started new medications, and gained more weight back.
I recently was told by my doctors I have a thyroid condition and started a medication to help, it can cause many issues aside from weight gain,
I am hoping that it will help me with my weight though, I do not like this new body, it feels very foreign to me. I have never been overweight in my life. And it causes pain in my body, my knees and hips and back are in pain, and my doctors will tell me it is due to my complications from child birth but I also do think it is from so much weight gain in such a short time.

I will say my personal caveat is that I prefer to date people who can do physical activities with me, but that doesn’t mean they have to be skinny or fit to do so. I am a size 12 and got some cushion and I can kick skinnier peoples’ asses at a number of physical activities. 90% agree but caveat from a professional standpoint- it depends a *little* bit on the person. For example, if an addicted person is also experiencing life circumstances that mean they're in a constant state of mental trauma or fight/flight, and have the freeze response, meditation can actually exacerbate the problem bc they're further removing themselves from their somatic processing. Again, it's very person specific, and there's not really a one size fits all solution to addiction, and meditation is incredibly helpful for many people experiencing it- it's just rarely the only solution and if theyre in a clinical setting, a lot of different factors need to be evaluated before recommending it(or any other treatment/coping skill)

People have been deluded with language like chubby, chunky, a little on the heavy side, and plump.
There's a reason why you won't find obese people in photos from the 1940s and 50s

It made me frustrated that they didn’t let the girl with PCOS talk. Like, she has a medical issue and they didn’t let her talk about her experience.

@sadautumnrose PCOS (like so many autoimmne conditions) stems from inflammation. A friend of mine had her first child after being diagnosed because she lost a ton of weight and went low carb. Inflammation is the source of most of these conditions. But doctors don't know this and would rather sell pills.

The lady in the red dress was so supportive. I like how she made everyone feel more confident about themselves. You can tell that she’s been through a lot and that she’s really strong. ❤❤
