Good morning Thom, another great time with your model railway. It's very nice how the shunting train gave way to the train that was passing through. As in the original, thank you for the video and all the best to you, stay healthy and best regards Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang. It is probably mid-afternoon where you are and I hope you have had an enjoyable weekend. We have had blue skies which is a welcome sight. It’s a nice morning here.
Thank you for watching. I hope you and your family are in good health and the weather will allow you to run your trains soon. Stay safe!

Good evening Tommy. That one wrapped up Oak Hill, starting to film a new session in Douglas Avenue tonight.

Thanks for watching and commenting, Steve. I have been pretty diligent at maintaining at least 1 video per week, so you can count on them to keep coming. I hope to get back to Saturday and Sunday but life gets in the way sometimes.
Have a great week and stay safe!

    Good morning Thom.
    Excellent video.
When it comes to your videos, longer is always ok!
Really nice detail I never noticed of the tarped clay pile behind Cedar Heights Clay.
Watched Fran’s video and enjoyed it. I really don’t have the opportunity on my layout to model a building foundation but have modeled a vacant corner lot. it has worked out very nicely and adds interest to a transition area in my Michigan City area.
All of the snow has melted here and we may touch 50 this week. So far we have been lucky in Chicago area with only a 2 week hard winter this season.
Stay safe and have a good Saturday! Scott

Good morning Scott. Our snow has been gone for awhile and we are also touching 50 in the afternoons. We have even seen some blue skies and the sun the past couple of days. Very nice.
Going to be a busy weekend for me. I need to shoot videos for the next 3 weeks since I’ll be in Texas. I hope your good weather holds on for you. Have a great weekend and stay safe, my friend!

    Great bit of shunting again.
You certainly know your stuff on the area, always nice to delve into that kind of history.
Been reading on the Port of Rotterdam lately, huge but some pieces could easily be transformed in a smaller project.
Especially when I take the 70s as an example, who knows, in the future perhaps?
Have a great weekend, stay well and safe.

Hi Ed. I like the research aspect of model railroading. Talking to people who were actually there, etc.
Hopefully your research will inspire you to take action at some point in the future. If so, I look forward to seeing it! Have a great weekend and stay safe!

Good morning Thom. Thanks for sharing. I'm always ok with any length video. I did a one day temp job at a brick yard in Southern Calif. Very heavy work.
My HO layout had to have a lift out/crawl under bridge to allow for continuous running. I got really tired of that and experimented with putting part of the layout up higher. Too hard to reach the back so I lowered it back down. Got tired of the whole thing and turned an around the walls layout into a 4x12 ft. I got a 2x8 foot unused section out of it which is going to become the new base for my N scale layout instead of the door I was planning on. My wife is really happy with both ideas.
Have a good trip to TX.

I think I would get tired of a duck-under, too. A hinged section would work but it seems like it might require a lot of tinkering. There are times that I wish that I had a method to continuously run, but not enough to deal with those issues.
Those beehive kilns that had to be manually unloaded and loaded must have been awful to work in. I imagine there’s no easy job in a brickyard.
Thanks for watching, Jack. Have a great weekend and week, stay safe!

Hi Thom, Is the Rail Gon that was pulled from Charrington Scrap an Athearn Model? I have two Athearn Rail Gon's and they look great but there was something wrong with either the wheels/axles or the trucks. Those things would rock & roll from side to side pretty bad. I ended up replacing the Athearn trucks with Micro-Trains Trucks but ran into another issue, With the truck screws tight, the Micro-Trains trucks just fell off the car. I ended up having to use the Micro-Trains washers to keep the trucks from falling off the car. Also I had to use a drop of Woodland Scenics Accent Glue to hold the screws in the car, kind of like loctite. Otherwise the screws would just work themselves loose and I was back to square one. Did you have this issue with your car? Yes the damp weather has not been playing nice with the arthritis in my knees. I guess it's a sign of the changing times, Beaver County where I live here in Western Pennsylvania once had numerous clay mines and brick manufacturing companies dating back to the early 1800s. In 2006 the last operating brick company in Darlington, PA closed and the property was sold to a auto salvage company. The Darlington Brick company was served by the Youngstown and Southern Railroad, which is now the Youngstown and Southeastern Railroad, a class 3 short line. Another great ops video Thom, thank you for uploading the video. Cheers, Rich S.

Good morning Rich. That is a Roundhouse model. They used to come in kits where they had to be assembled and they sit way too high. I cut out the plastic floor and used the metal frame as the floor, super gluing it in place and painting it black. This lowered the car quite a bit and it looks better.
If you go to my N scale playlist, find the video called ‘Modifying a Roundhouse gondola………’ and I show how I did it. I think that I had to glue the truck pins in.
Western Pennsylvania was another place that had a lot of brickyards like eastern Ohio. Lots of clay, I guess.
Thanks for your nice comments and information. Have a great weekend and stay safe! Hope your knees feel better!
