    Another informative Video Jay I'm liking the Ping. would be interested at lower club speed testing to see how my Stealth 7 measures up to it. also my clubs are not fitted so getting a set fitted would help in my practicing shame you can't get fitted for clubs after you buy them regular standard. Thanks for your in depth review

    Just ordered the Mizuno jpg forged irons. Had a custom fitting with no bias to any clubs and it came down to these two. I just felt my not so good hits were more forgiving in the mizunos. Plus I liked the look of them better. Both did the same project x 1O shaft. Can’t wait to get them.
    Also ordered the S23 wedges 😊

    Great video. So much better than most other TH-camrs reviews. The real take away for this video is the information regarding the forgiveness and where of the face. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone else give us the micro information regarding this. Simple idea Jay, but a fitting changer. Never been to a fitting where the fitter has been able to give face location forgiveness. (I go to fittings about 4 times a year just because🤪) keep up the quality your delivering

      HI Jess, lovely to here from you. The Forged absolutely is spot on for gapping consistency. The graduation in tech from Chromoly to 1025E in the 7 iron to 8 iron is loft specific so you won't see a difference in gapping 👍

    • @lkae4
      @lkae4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Less bounce of the power spec is usually less forgiving. But if you're a sweeper, that shouldn't be a problem.

  • @drumcatnau
    @drumcatnau ปีที่แล้ว

    A correction about the 3-5 iron. The 210 used to make the long irons wider. 230 are still progressive, they're still larger than the mid-shorts, but they are not *smaller* than the mid- and short-irons. They're still slightly larger.

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on your club head delivery, if there is a dynamic loft issue and it's very small you could get the clubs tweaked a touch to suit, but if the loft delivery is too big to control in loft adjustment then best option would be a lesson to understand where the launch angle is coming from 👍

      @@AskGolfNut lessons are on the agenda. I started playing 36 years ago but haven’t played much in the last decade. I forgot the club head dot stickers so I didn’t get dynamic loft readings but I know my swing enough to know I can improve in the compression at impact part. • @ermangus
    @ermangus ปีที่แล้ว

    I done a fitting last week with these two and the 223s. The i230s won out for me. I couldn't complain with well struck shots as they were basically the same. For my swing I got more forgiveness out of the toe (my miss) than the other two. The Cobra King Tour in this class is the best feeling IMO. Just not helpful slightly low.

  • @suprand
    @suprand ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Also. I230 has loads more bounce although mizuno says they ever so slightly increased the bounce in the new jpx line. Steeper swingers or softer turf conditions will likely benefit from i230

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For an amateur golfers point of view what you say above is absolutely correct, from a pros point of view, we always hit ball first so bounce makes little difference. But yes absolutely you are spot on for 99% of golfers 👍

    • @JoeyLeclerc

      @@AskGolfNut So bending the 923 forged one degree weak wouldn't be such a bad thing bounce-wise right? At least for someone who sometimes hit turf then ball...

    • @AskGolfNut

      Definitely in that case, adding either sole thickness or bounce when making iron choices would protect a small amount from less than favoured ground interactions 👍

    On your toe hit the comparison the dynamic loft with 923 was 25.4 and the similar hit with the 230 was 28.2, which is exactly the difference in the static loft. What I think might explain the efficiency diff, do you not take that into account?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Simran, generally yes, absolutely. I have to balance every miss hit and the detailed information given so that it keeps it within a sensible timeframe. I'd love to talk about each delivery in detail but have to generalise over the entire dataset of miss hits and normal hits. One day I'd like to make a full on review where i can really delve into the differences.....It will be an hours worth, or even a live stream 😀

    Hi Jay totally unrelated questions but was wondering if could give me some advice. I have a 5 iron at my top end of irons. In the woods apart from driver i have a Ping 5 and 7 wood in the g430. Does it warrant me getting a hybrid as they can be useful from slight rough whereas the fw can get caught in the grass. If so what loft i should consider and manufacturer?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you intending on gapping the 5i or semi replacing it, or looking at something interchangeable with the 7 Wood? 👍

    • @RajKumar-zm4ll
      @RajKumar-zm4ll ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to keep the 5i and 7wood but wanted something that would be easier to hit out of the rough as iron tend to end caught on the grass and so was looking at potentially a hybrid. My clubhead speed with a driver is 85mph. In addition something i could use also of a muddy lie as you get this time of the year. Main emphasis being on ease of launch comparable with my speed. Thank you

  • @slytown

    Do you find the Ping workable? My concern is the forgiveness in these clubs make it too difficult to hit subtle draws and fades. Seems like if you want any workability you need to go JPX tour or Ping i59 if you don't want the tiny heads of the MB series or Ping blueprints.

      Ping believe that the Micromax grooves are there for consistency of spin out of the multitude of conditions found when playing. • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I could do Justin, although without giving the game away, the Forged is slightly hotter off the face than the 223, so there would be no real difference in distance other than the 1 degree loft, and the 223 with the copper underlay but Chromoly construction would put it on a par with the i230..... That result would be very very close 👍
