You are the only one that doesn't skip parts thank you it's very unsatisfied when they skip between doing a job. Especially if you are watching to learn to do it for yourself. From beginning to end your the best...
This is a concise , clearly explained video with excellent footage. I have a 2003 Grand Marquis and after watching this video decided to fix what I intially thought was a brake caliper leak but now turns out to be a bad axle seal.
I carefully followed every step but now cannot exract the axel after removing the C washer. No matter how hard I try, up, down and side to side it remains firm even with slight leverage from a small steel bar against the emergency brakes. In my flustration it became necessary to put the main pin and retaining bolt loosely back in to hold the cog wheels in place. I have limited garage space and only able to extract one axel at a time meaning that I will have take the car out and reverse it back in to do the drivers side if and when I manage to get this `%*%$#@ axel removed.
Wheel Off, Rotor Off, Brake Caliper Off, ABS senser out, Fill Plug Out, Diff Cover Off, 8mm mounting bolt Out, Main Pin Out, C Washer out, Axel Stuck????
I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks, Tom.
Nobody ever shows what to do if your spider gears roll out and how to replace them. I always mark and remove them with the shims. Takes seconds to replace them. Nobody ever talks about the red thread loctite and what to do about it. I always put a little heat to soften the loctite before I even put a wrench on it. Round off the hex on that lock pin one time and then you’ll understand.
This was very helpful, thank you!
Which is best choise for axle shaft? USA standard gear or? Which?
