The craziest thing about all of these stats is that its almost the norm for Jokic. Hes putting up all time numbers in his first nba finals game but this is what the guy does on a daily basis. I wouldnt be amazed if the guy has even crazier stat lines in the next few games. I hope when Nikolas career is all said and done he has a few rings to show for it so ppl can truly appreciate how great this man is.

Jokic’s style of play benefits from the modern era of positionless, 3pt focused basketball. Larry Bird could have easily out up similar numbers if he played today. Jokic would have the rebounding edge due to his size. If SGA can average 30ppg, Dirk could. Dirk never averaged 30ppg for a season his entire career. Dirk played his peak years in the slowest offensive era of the modern NBA. Jokic is playing in the fastest era.

You're trying to tell me that Toni Kukoc wouldn't absolutely excel in today's game, given that the game is so friendly now to the
European style of play? Dirk had to go up against Duncan/Parker/Ginobli, Kobe/Shaq, Kobe/Gasol, prime D Wade, LeBron/Wade/Bosh,
a young OKC Thunder, all while not having another All Star next to him for the vast majority of his NBA career. And he still accomplished
more than some of the guys who everyone keeps telling me are better than him. LeBron formed a superteam and still ended up 5/16 against
Tim Duncan in the playoffs. Dirk beat the Spurs trio in 2006 with Jet Terry as his second best player. Folks need to start putting some

That's going to increase assist numbers at the end of the night. Compared to passing to slashers, putting the ball on the floor to get to the basket for 2. Now that assist opportunity has gone away regardless of a make or miss. Today's style of play is affecting assist numbers making them higher across the league compared to the past.

Jokic is in his 8th season.
Dirk won the title in his 13th.
Dirk got a big legacy boost because of the 2011 playoff run but it's overrated by many people . Not because he wasn't great but some called it the greatest postseason run or top 5. People think if you don't have an allstar teammate or another guy on the team who averages 20-25ppg then the star is winning by themselves. It's like Jimmy this postseason, he had a couple amazing games 4&5 vs the Bucks 56pts and 42pts then the narrative started he was carrying them even though he was good not amazing in the 2nd round and conference Finals.
Jokic gets alot of help but alot of that is because of how he passes and frees up space for teammates when he screens or draws attention.
Jokic is a greater player than Dirk ever was but Dirk was around 21 seasons to accumulate more accolades and numbers.

On the subject of stats in today's game you have to look at them carefully. There is way more catch and shoot basketball being played now than in the past. Which means assist numbers across the board are going to be and have increased in the league over the pass 20yrs. Guys in the past NBA and Dirk's era were more slashers. So when a center or forward passed back out to the perimeter the slasher was still trying to get to the basket in most cases. Which would take away an assist. Opposed to a pass from inside in today's era ending in a immediate shot from a catch and shoot player. Dirk was considered an extremely good passer but like I said. He was passing to guys that were making extra moves to get to the basket for 2. Not just shooters. Inevitably assist totals are going to be high in today's game bcoz of playing style. Players are no more efficient at scoring than they were in the past. It's just the way they score is different.

I seen both players play. Only thing Dirk was "better at" was his offensive style/ technical midrange ability for shot making. Other than that Jokic does everything better and what separates him is his passing.

Dirk also didn't play with the players Jokic is playing with. Give Dirk this team in his prime and he's winning multiple rings.

They lied to preserve the history of the NBA but they want to disrespect dirk Karl Malone cannot do with Dirk did at the height of his powers they were comparing him to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar because his little shot was seemingly unguardable

if we are basing Dirk vs Jokic on championship merit, its definitely dirk. Jokic beating this miami team doesnt compare to the miami team Dirk faced in 2011 and ill even through in 06 miami even though he lost.

I value Jokics game in the paint/mid range and passing/rebounding more than Dirks 3 point shooting

Dirk's bread and butter was isolation midrange scoring; old school. HIs 3pt shot was just a cherry on top. Dirk is up there with the greatest in terms of midrange efficiency at large volume.
Jokic is Sabonis 2.0, with flashes of Dirk and Magic Johnson. It's insane. Dirk is tied with MJ as my all time faves, but this Jokic is better. Greater? Not yet.
