    This is a great video. The ergobaby video doesn't cross the straps, which to me looks like a much better way of getting the high, snug fit needed for newborns. You have also showed how you have the material between you and baby, which also makes sense for getting that high position. So thank you! I'm off to buy this carrier now, after you've cleared up my doubts :-)

    Hi, how would i need to adjust the sling for a 3 month old please? Or can I follow the same rules for the newborn. Thank you!

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! Thanks for your question. My suggestion would be to try it on the newborn setting first of all. Then the following adjustments may be needed, depending on how big your 3 month old is:
      You may need to make the velcro adjuster slightly wider (probably adjusted to between the first and middle setting). Ideally the carrier should fit from one knee to the other, so the lower leg swings freely.
      Depending on how tall you are and how tall baby is, you may need to sit the waistband a little lower on your body than is shown in the video here. The lower the waistband sits. the taller the panel will be over baby's back. You'll still want to ensure it comes up to the nape of baby's neck.
      You may also want to undo the piece that's done up behind baby's neck and flip it over onto the outside. This piece closes the gap behind baby's neck when they're newborn but may not be needed at 3 months.
      Hope that helps!

    After watching tens of videos, this is by far the best one. It gave so many more details, answering all the remaining questions I had about baby’s position, like what to do with his arms or uneven legs. THANK YOU! One question, what do we do with the extra flaps (with the loops) that hang out above the left and right clips?

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so pleased you found it so helpful! You can thread the buckles through these loops, for additional security. They're most useful when back carrying, as they keep the buckles from rubbing against your underarm.

      The higher you wear the waistband, the higher the straps will sit under your armpits. Try wearing the waistband a little lower, and then holding baby a little lower too (so the carrier still comes up to the nape of their neck but no higher). Providing their head is still resting on the solid part of your chest, you can vary how high or low you hold them. Adjusting the waistband lower should help lower the straps under your arms. It's also worth trying the straight strap method, as well as crossing straps, to see which you prefer. My video here (with the newer version of the Omni 360) shows how: th-cam.com/video/i6fN6YvPCt8/w-d-xo.html

    • @SouthEastSlings

    We have difficulty adjusting the baby height. The ear is always to low. How do you adjust the seat height?

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The higher you wear the waistband, the more fabric can sit between you and baby (which will shorten the panel). If you find the panel is coming a bit too high, just hold baby slightly lower on you - so more fabric is between you and then. Also make sure you're bringing the fabric straight out - horizontally - before bringing it over baby's back - so that you get the nice, curved seat position. Hope that helps! If you'd like any more help feel free to book a video call so we can run through it in person www.roamyhuntconsultancy.co.uk/consultations

    How do you like this carrier compared to the Boba X? I’m just tossing between the two. Thanks so much!

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're both very different. I find Boba X tends to fit best with straps worn straight, rather than crossed. The Boba X lasts for longer (generally until around 3-4 years, compared to around 2-2.5 years with the Ergobaby Omni 360). The Ergobaby Omni 360 offers facing outwards position. Both work nicely for facing inwards and a back carry. The Boba X straps adjust shorter for a back carry than the Ergobaby Omni 360 ones do. If it's possible for you to try them out at at Sling Library (if you're in a country that has them) then I would as they really are very different in terms of fit and feel :-)

  • @amylane4098
    @amylane4098 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, I’m wondering what the sliders are for or what difference they make on the positioning. The ones located on the straps.

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your question. The clips in sliders that are in either strap are used for:
      a) back carrying
      b) if you wear the carrier with the straps straight (also known as rucksack style or H shape) rather than crossed
      If you have a look at my other videos you’ll see these positions demoed
      When you’re crossing the straps the small clip isn’t needed
      Hope that helps!

    • @amylane4098
      @amylane4098 ปีที่แล้ว

      So it doesn’t matter for newborn position about the sliders? Also where should the back strap that’s clipped he positioned? Upper back or mid back etc?
      My baby isn’t enjoying the carrier at all,think he feels trapped . Any suggestions ?
      Thank you for your quick reply.

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok so quite a few questions here 🙂
      If you're using the carrier as shown in the video above you can totally ignore the clip that's on the straps behind you.
      The Mesh Omni 360s have sliders on the front panel, the standard ones (like the one shown in my video here) have buttons. If yours has sliders, and this is what you're asking about, these should always be in the wider setting, unless baby is facing outwards.
      If you're talking about wearing the straps straight/rucksack/H-shape my video on link below shows the various ways to do this. It's personal preference based on what you find easy to do and comfortable: th-cam.com/video/i6fN6YvPCt8/w-d-xo.html
      When tightening (with any of the various ways of doing up the straps) make sure you always bring the slack to the buckle before tightening. This ensures the straps are snug but baby isn't over-tightened against you.
      If you need any additional help its probably worth booking a 15 min video call, so I can run through it all in person 🙂

    Why does it seem like the ergo baby carrier bottom piece is too Wide to fit across my newborns bum ? I adjusted to the newborn size and still too big and my baby is 9 weeks

      Thanks for your question. So the higher you wear the waistband, the shorter the panel over their back will be. If you have a look on the video, you’ll see I hold the demo doll so some of the fabric is between me and the doll. If you’re finding the panel comes up a bit high, try holding baby an inch or so lower - so more of them sits over the carrier. Then when you bring the panel up it’ll be shorter. Make sure you don’t pull it up too high (or you’ll end up shifting them up). Hope that makes sense; it’s always harder to describe with words then to demonstrate! If you want to book a 15 minute video call to run through it face to face these are £10.

    Can you have cross back stripes all the time? From newborn to toddler?

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can. It tends to be more supportive to cross the straps, especially as baby gets heavier. Some people find straight straps easier, depending on their mobility

    I’m so confused, I have the Ergobaby Omni 360 but there’s no adjuster on the waistband, it’s just sewed into place. I can’t find any videos for one like mine. I’ve seen several that look like yours with the Velcro, but mine doesn’t have that.

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! It sounds like you have the Ergobaby 360. Not the Ergobaby Omni 360. This does not have an adjustable width and has fixed straight straps. If you look at the Ergobaby playlist on here it will show you videos using that one.

      @@SouthEastSlings That’s what I thought!! But I went and looked at my order on Amazon and it literally says the Omni 360! I checked, and checked again. So weird. I’m just trying to figure out if I’ll need a newborn insert for it or not. I didn’t think I would, but now I’m not sure. Mine says it holds a 7lb baby, but it’s not adjustable and I don’t have an insert.

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly listings on Amazon are often incorrect. If it doesn’t have the adjustable width it is not the Omni 360 and will need an infant insert until baby is around 4-6 months

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your question. No, you don’t need the infant insert with any of the newer Ergobaby carriers; they fit from newborn without them.
      The insert is only needed on Ergobaby carriers where the base width of the panel is not adjustable (eg Ergobaby 360, Ergobaby Sport, Ergobaby Original).

  • @garciasandramm
    @garciasandramm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The two buttons that you showed in the beginning have to be adjusted depending on baby’s weight? What’s the weight range for each button?

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The buttons on the outside of the panel are adjusted for facing inwards or outwards.
      The wider buttons are used for inward facing, hip carry and back carry.
      The narrower buttons are used when baby is facing outwards.
      You can see how to adjust the buttons for baby facing outwards in my other video
      The other adjustment that has buttons is for the flap behind baby’s head. This is folded inwards - to close the gap behind baby’s neck - when they are newborn. When they grow they will no longer need the flap folded in, so it can go in the outward position. Again, see my other videos for this.
      When you bring the flap so it folds on the outside is based on the size of baby, and the shape of the wearer, rather than the weight of baby.

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thanks for your question.
      It obviously depends on how big/small your baby is but, generally, the newborn setting is for the first 8 weeks or so.
      As baby gets taller you start to move the waistband a little lower, widen the seat a little, and turn the flap to the outward setting
      Babies that are larger at birth may need the carrier adjusting sooner. Babies that are smaller may need it in the newborn setting for longer.
      Hope that helps!

    My baby hates the carrier 😭. I don’t know what to do!

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear you're struggling.
      Here are the main things to look at:
      1) Is baby hungry?
      2) Do they need a new nappy/are they needing to fill their nappy?
      If it's either of those you'll need to address those first. If it's not those:
      3) Is baby tired?
      Often they can be a little bit grizzly going in if they need to sleep but don't know how. Once you've done your safety checks (baby has clear airways, carrier no higher than earlobe, and are as tight as a cuddle in arms, so they can't slump) go for a bouncy-walk up and down the corridor/around the room. If it's just that they're tired they'll generally settle in a few minutes
      4) Has baby got their knees tucked up with a gentle curve to their spine?
      If baby is quite 'straight' in the carrier this can put pressure on their tummy and make it uncomfortable. Make sure you bring their knees up towards you with a gentle tilt, so they're sat on their bottom with a gentle curve to their spine (I demonstrate this in the video above).
      5) Is baby held as tight as a cuddle in arms?
      If baby is held too loosely they won't feel safe and will be unsettled. Again, I show how to check they're held nice and snug in the video above. This, combined with step 4), tends to be the most common cause of baby being unsettled in the carrier
      With all of these, once you've got baby safely in the carrier and done your checks, don't stand still - walk around. Baby's like movement and, also, will pick up on any anxiety you have. Moving around will calm you down and will also likely calm baby.
      Also ensure you support baby comfortably when you're putting the carrier on - so support them under their bottom before you've brought the carrier panel up, then across their shoulders once the carrier is over their back.
      Like point 4), if you support baby across their back this will squash their tummy against you, which can make it uncomfortable for them and cause them to arch their back and push their legs out behind them.
      Hope that all helps. I do run through all of this in my video above so maybe pick a time when baby is settled and try the carrier again. Take it slowly - there's no prize for doing it quickly!

      I hope the video is helpful. The fabric is generally fairly soft on the Omni 360. The Cool Mesh version is a bit less soft but both do soften with use. You can purchase a Drool Bib which fits over the front and straps. This is a very soft cotton cover and can be useful if baby tends to rest their head against the straps

      Hi! The Ergobaby Omni 360 does not need an infant insert.
      The infant insert is designed for use in Ergobaby's older products - the Ergobaby 360, Ergobaby Original and a few others (now discontinued).
      The OMNI 360 doesn't need any inserts (It's a bit confusing as one of the '360' carriers needs it but the other doesn't so it's good to ask :-) )

    Great and amazing video 🤩
    My baby is 3 months and I was wearing him wrong all the time... I am feeling terrible. He was born with 55cm, should I cross the shoulder strips anyway? He is now 3 months and 65 cm, should I use the second measure on the velcro? Should I keep the neck thing folded to inside? (Sorry for all the questions... I am kind of freaking out 🤣)

    • @SouthEastSlings
      @SouthEastSlings  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So pleased you found the video helpful. Please try not to worry. You can wear the straps crossed or straight - whichever way you find most comfortable (I have videos showing how to wear the straps straight if that's how you prefer).
      My video here shows with a slightly older baby, with crossed straps: th-cam.com/video/IoUjOM1qsMg/w-d-xo.html
      Then the video here shows with slightly older baby and straight straps: th-cam.com/video/xySFR6clLro/w-d-xo.html
      With the width, it really depends on the length of baby's legs. Ideally the carrier will fit from one kneepit to the other, so the lower leg can swing freely. If quite a bit of their thigh is outside the seat of the carrier then you may want to widen it.

      All carriers fit different wearers differently. Think about how you hold your baby in arms, then sit the carrier to replicate in-arms carrying.
      The Ergobaby is likely to mould to all shapes and sizes but - like choosing jeans - they all fit different wearers differently. Look to sit the waistband very high and try slightly off-centre as well as central positions (so baby may be more comfortable either between your breasts or curved around one side or the other).

      Yes, this is a safety measure; from my experience the clip is really hard to pushl open by mistake but it's good to have it anyway. Also all the clips have this safety and it also acts as a guide to have the straps not touch the baby.

      Thank you for your message. The Ergobaby Omni 360 can be worn with straps straight or crossing over your back. Whichever you prefer. I have videos demoing both.
