In the Americas we have large cats we call by any number of names, but we will go with Mountain Lion. At night these cats can caterwaul, a scream desribed as like that of a woman and very unsettling.
Interesting connection to owls. I hadn't heard that one before, but it is interesting that several European cultures say it is bad luck to see an owl during the day, or to harm an owl, because it will bring bad luck or death.
Interesting you say that Kevin. My research found some places where she was referred to as the queen of the Banshees, but old sources say this not to be true. The idea of Clíodhna as the “queen of Banshees” is actually a later development and isn’t rooted in traditional Irish mythology. In early Irish legends, Clíodhna is primarily a powerful fairy queen and a figure of the Tuatha Dé Danann, especially associated with the province of Munster. She’s seen as a protector of the land and a prominent figure in the sí (fairy) world, but she doesn’t have a traditional role as the ruler or queen of Banshees.
@@MystOfMythology My introduction to her was through the game Smite, and based on what you're saying, it looks like Hi-Rez studios has combined both of those versions of Cliodhna into a single character for their in-game version. While her gameplay more closely matches the banshee version, her in-game LORE feels much closer to her role as a queen and protector. It also makes sure to include what is arguably her most famous myth of all: her role in the founding and construction of Blarney Castle.
Thank you, author, for tell this side of the story, I only knew that the banshee are like Evil spirits or even demons, but is really amazing know this side of the story too, modern time only focus on the bad side of the myths and transformed it as bad and Evil when in reality is more to the stories to see, now I'm know a the truth, that are more to the story that just the bad side like the modern times constantly remind us, it is really amazing to watch, keep going and thank you for tell the truth I love it
Thank you right back Wolf-GSD! It's true, most times, we like the instant gratification of drama and horror - and that has a place to have fun - but that's why I do these videos - share hww deep and interesting myths can really be. What would you say, in your experience, is the most famous (evil) Banshee?
The scream of the Banshee who ever hear the shriek with fear Can you do the history of godzilla it about a giant monster Godzilla was a lizard a dinosaur mutated into a giant behemoth monster Destroying Tokyo
Hey Curtis, this is still considered a fictional character more than a mythical creature or folklore - but this is a grey. I've captured it and may consider it in future videos. Thanks for the comment!
Love this series!! Thank You!
You are so welcome!
I had only ever heard of Banshee as something malevolent. Very interesting. Thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yes! A myth from my mother's family ancestors! Always love to hear stories about Irish Mythology!
More to come Mike!
I love hearing barn owls screaching. I grew up in the country and night time sounds were just part of everything else.
I struggle to sleep with passing cars. I don’t know how I’d handle a screeching owl 🦉

Thank you my friend.
Am shocked that when you were talking about the banshees' connection to Irish goddesses, you made absolutely zero mention of Cliodhna.

Frankly I don't want to find out that the banshee exists in the modern times of 21 century
I have a suggestion: Santa Claus, especially if he was within the viking or Norse mythology. 😊
