I like that you showed a mistake by both turning at the same time! I can see that making a mistake doesn't mean you have to stop dancing, but you can recover and keep going. Thanks for the lessons!
I love six count. East Coast Swing. Shag. Applies to a variety of RnR CW RnB music. Any song with a triple step. Can dance in a small space. Notice how the lady weights on the balls of her feet, allowing for maneuverability. If the dancer stays back on the heels it disrupts rhythm and balance, like a skater on the wrong edge.
Idk if you still need an answer, but I think it's because music is counted differently from dance. Dance uses 8 counts a measures where as music uses 4. So when the dance is counted the way music is, it because a 3 count dance. Since 3 and 4 have a common multiple of 12, after a few measures the music and the dance get back on track together. It might be awkward at first; but once you finish the 6th count, just start the next step. After a while it will come together again.
I totally understand- as I get very frazzled with 6 count dance movements or anything that the phrasing doesn’t equal 32… But as KK_12 commented - after 4 rounds of 6 counts, you’re at 24- which is 3 rounds of 8- so a common multiplier of both 6 & 8. The bottom line for me is always going to be fun… and feel… when I get ‘off’, I smile and keep moving😊❤️

I can't seem to get my head wrapped around a 6-count dance step with an eight count song. How do we get around that?
