I was a very young boy in the '50s. I do however remember seeing these vehicles. But it just slips by me remembering them and other cars in that era being painted metallic. My first recollection of metallic paint came in the '60s on customs and hot rods. When was metallic paint first used ? These Cadillacs are gorgeous ! Thanks John 👍 p.s. Dave from Toy Car Geek is my go to shop. A gentleman who does business showing his love for die cast.
Thanks for watching. Yes! Dave is a great guy and a fine dealer. Metallic paints were used as early as the 1920s. However, they really came into their own in the sixties, which is when ways to preserve the finshes were beginning to improve.
This is wonderful spectacular car of the end of 40s. By the way, the next 1948 Cadillac inspired the Soviet engineers to create GAZ-12 ZIM, introduced in 1950. A s to the model it looks beatiful, but we should remember that it is produced in China. Brooklin and Western models had in their range the same model and I think it can de a good choice even in nowadays.

Beautiful cars ! I wish they were 1/18 scale!
Me too, but I really do enjoy the detail in the 1/43 scale.
Hard to pick a favorite
