- After the closure of Rowley Park Speedway on Torrens Road, Adelaide's Speedway Park was opened in 1979 and was once for a long period of time the jewel in the crown when it came to Australian Speedway venues, located just 26 kms from Adeleaide's CBD.
As Speedway Park the venue opperated from 1979 - 1996. In 1997 Bob Sincock and Wendy Turner took on the role of owner promoter and gave the venue a tremendous run until 2016. In 2017 the venue was leased to the Miller family and ran for two seasons as Adelaide Motorsport Park (2017-2019) before the venue went into long term hiatus.
In 2020 Charlie from KCM Metals purchased the property. Since the new ownership several attempts have been made to lease the venue however none have been successful in getting off the ground.
Over the time the venue has been used for Speedway (car and bike), Burnouts, Side by Side racing, Dirt Karts, Stadium Off Road and other social / community events.
In December 2023 I made a trip to the venue to film the current condition of the stadium. This is the first of many 3 minute videos that I will upload to You Tube. Also an official documentary will be released further down the line. If you have anything you may like to contribute to the upcoming documentary then i would love to hear from you.
God Bless,

Great race track loved coming over from perth to race there
😢😢🏁🏁Paris Charles thanks for the film so many memories as a young kid spectacting
thank you, this is the first of a few different videos to celebrate what was a special place for many people.
I came from the U.S. in 2015/16 to go to races there, along with several other tracks in AU. Surprised to hear that it closed.
I miss entering the local speedway burnout comps
It seems Adelaide is too small to have an actual speedway. But million will be spent on a 'temporary' speedway in the Parklands.
As a lad, I spent many many Friday nights hanging off the back straight fence
Some drone footage would be cool. A fly around of the track etc
It hasn't changed, it is exactly as I remember it in the late 80s, even timing clock looks unchanged, so much that I'm guessing its identical to the one I used to operate at Northline in the 90s.
Yes, I believe that the Speedway City clock is identical to Northline Speedway clock.
What a shame like everything else good we get here in Adelaide. Gets left to rot away
It's a shame was always good going to the speedway there on boxing day and other events
Speedway City is filled with many fantastic memories and experiences for so many people.
That is why I'm making these series of vignettes and hopefully a full documentary
I heard somewhere that its going to be turned into a container storage park dunno if it's true or not
Greed killed this track
What a waste, I wish I got to go there when it was up and running.
