As a fan of both prime and armada,i always loved the armada smokescreen,his personality was really cool and prime smokescreen is a unique one,and the fact that prime smokescreen was going to be Like hot rod in some point make it even funnier

Jack Angel was great,he also did Astrotrain and the original Liquidator voice on Darkwing Duck.
I think Prime Smokescreen got the most character development. That's why I like him. We see how high on himself he is. He's a bad influence on Jack. He really scruffs up the squeaky clean do-gooder vibe of the Autobots. G1 Smokescreen seemed a 1-trick pony until The Gambler. Now as an adult, I wish it was more than smoke bombs that he employed for distraction. He could have been a cool ninja slipping in and out of Decepticon installations and when he gets cornered does the smoke bomb vanish.
Of the Datsun bros, he's my favorite followed by Barricade, Prowl and Bluestreak.
While Prime Smokescreen did get a lot of attention, my biggest gripe with him is that he's basically Hot Rod. That and his name doesn't have meaning like the G1 bot did. You're right that they could have used G1 Smokescreen more and shown more of his skills, but I definitely loved his character.
I didn't know that Prime Smokescreen's blue and yellow color scheme was inspired by his Binaltech toy. I prefer that color over the predominantly white one. I just wished he got a deluxe class toy in that color scheme before the line ended.

Smokescreen was one of my favorite G1 designs. Between him and Tracks, I guess the blue bots caught my attention. I remember getting him, Tracks, ands Skids for my 8th birthday. Anyway, I’d love to see more cartoon versions of him and like many of the previous comments I too think the Prime version got the best character development. Thanks for the video and look forward to seeing more.

Smokes got some good screen time in Season 2, but one scene always stood out for me: in Trans-Europe Express, Wildrider flies ahead of him, lands on the road, and is now on a direct collision course with him. It seemed like Smoky calmly stated the Stunticon's name but didn't do a darn thing to avoid him! So Wildrider smacked him head-on, and Drag Strip took a piece of him for good measure!
For a 'Bot who usually knew how to deal with any situation, that wasn't one of his more shining moments!
So true. He was so occupied with his place in the race he didn't even know he was about to be taken out.

Smokescreen: "I'm betting it all!" And then a suspected Jawa employee discovered that he's cheating and so he took advantage in sabotaging his gambling skills! Also in the previous episode "Child's Play", Optimus Prime forgot to introduce Smokescreen to Aaron!
The g1 version will always be my favorite.

Definitely one of my favorite autobots in Season 2, but one thing I was shocked about was his appearance in Transformers Prime, which I would say was the Hot Rod/Rodimus prime role, but overall a fantastic character as his race car mode in G1 is overall outstanding!
Here's a fun fact: Smokescreen had been mistaken for Bluestreak because of it's color deco. Smokescreen's signature magnetic smoke is actually thermite smoke when attracted to any metal surfaces.

I like that the cartoon acknowledged that a transformer's brain is still techincally an "electrical target".
Prime is the reason smoke screen is my favorite autobot I also love his g1 color scheme and I enjoy that in prime they decided to go with him instead of hot rod (prime smoke screen is similar to g1 hot rod) because it’s something new and it definitely would’ve been interesting to see him become a prime (also hope we get to see him and bluestreak more often)

I had a toy of the Cybertron version of Smokescreen twice when I was a kid as it kept breaking, but my favorite interpretation of him is his Aligned Continuity/Prime counterpart.
Such an underappreciated, cool Autobot. The Gambler is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. Great video. 👏👏

Smokescreen has always been one of my favourite Autobots and love it when he creates smoke to distract Decepticons, a very underrated Transfomer
He generates smoke to distract the enemy, one of the most original ideas for a character ever!
The original is always the definitive best to me. You forgot to mention though how his number has changed from the original 38 over the years due to trademark issues with the real life car he was based on.
I choose the G1 Smokescreen though, unlike the Transformers Prime Smokescreen, He can create smoke to distract the Decepticons.
That Diaclone figure was obviously basically the same guy, but not having those shoulder missiles really made the figure look better, IMO. Would have been cool to see him animated that way instead of looking like his head was a cannon sandwich.

one of my favorite autobots with jazz and tracks! they didn kill him on the movie! but they never explain why he and others did not appear in the 3 season!
As you can tell they don't just call him Smokescreen for no reason!
That's why I'm such a staunch G1 guy. None of the other versions made sense out of his name.
Either way, at least both him and Grapple have remained really great characters! That's what mattered to me and my family the most. Great Retrospective RP!
He’s my second favourite autobot after Bumblebee. I really liked him in transformers prime I just wish he was introduced earlier in season 2. 😊
In my Generations series, I would have Smokescreen team with Devcon on a space mission. In the future, Smokescreen would become fellow bounty hunter, while going by the name Crosswise.

After all this time, I still feel Prime's Smokescreen got robbed, despite Optimus being my favorite Transformers character of all time, I feel watching Smokescreen grow into the role of a Prime was the way the show was supposed to go, the hype with the prime toyline made me consider the possibilities of Smokescreen as a Prime, even as generation 1 Smokescreen will always hold a special place in my heart, I still hope against hope that someday Smokescreen Prime will be a splinter timeline that will be touched upon.
G1 smokescreen was a one trick pony megs got hip to the truck and told the cons to shoot the whole cloud in a later episode

G1 Smokescreen is only one I know..
Smokescreen also appeared In the Japanese opening for season 3, as the movie was not shown in Japan at the time.
Smokescreen wasn't killed. So him appearing is perfectly fine.
Earthrise G1 is the best form IMO.
There's a fourth autobot that goes with prowl, bluestreak and smokescreen, an autobot named sliverstreak

I don't even remember Smokescreen from the IDW 1/2 run, but I'm positive my favorite version is from there since that's my favorite version of basically every character.

Well, this guy grew on me over the years, but my wife, who doesn't know or like Transformers, loves the paint on the Earthrise mold. I find that impressive.
I also really like the Transformers Prime version of the character, but I did wished we'd see his prime mode, that would have been interesting. Great Retrospective, it's really good.

Smokescreen could have still been killed in Autobot City. When we look at the storyboard scene, Windcharger's head was facing Smokescreen. In the movie, Windcharger's head was facing opposite of Wheeljack. So Smokescreen's body was laying on the other side of Windcharger opposite to Wheeljack.
At the same time, the Smokescreen-colored Wheeljack can be seen as a separate Autobot from both Smokescreen and Wheeljack. The Smokescreen-colored Wheeljack was closer to the launcher than Windcharger and Wheeljack's corpses. Smokescreen-colored Wheeljack was lying next to the ammo crates. Look at 4:44 and 4:48 or 4:49.
Edit: I had been doing two years of reflecting and I thought I should update on what I had thought about the topic.
It's Wheeljack. The Storyboards only confirm that Smokescreen was used as a model, leading to the confusion, but the finished film is the proof that Wheeljack was the one to die. As per Flint Dille, no body or seen dying you have no proof of death so Smokescreen survived.
@@RodimusPrimal Well, there was no proof that Smokescreen was alive in the battle either. While Windcharger and Wheeljack was lying dead you can see a missile laying next to them in 4:48. But in 4:49, that missile wasn't next to the Smokescreen-colored Wheeljack.

Probably because they didn't want to use Hot Rod in the show.
@@RodimusPrimal that's always disappointing. I've been a huge Hot Rod fan since the 86 movie. His original twin blaster toy was one of my favorites, so it makes me sad that he gets such a bad rap to this day.
The Alternators Smokescreen was one of the first (after MP-01) figures that got me back into collecting Transformers as an adult. It’s still one of my favorites.
I like the G1 version the most too bad he wasn't in the 3rd season although seeing him in Headmasters for a few seconds is better than nothing.
Personlig i like the G2 smokescreen and dreadwing and prime character is the one I think of then I hear the name smokescreen but great retrospective
