I'm from the northeast state of Mizoram. Many of the famous Mizo writers have spoken about Khushwant Singh especially his wit and humour. One writer whom I really like had a chat with Khushwant Singh. This was mentioned by another writer in his book followed by his jealousy of that guy for being able to had had that opportunity. This book became book of the year, Mizoram. There's many more of Mizo writer's admiration for Khushwant Singh.
He wrote about bawdy stuff, bordering vulgarity, because it SOLD. However, he wrote wonderfully well, in English. His memory, his knowledge of the scriptures, of Persian, Urdu, Punjabi, Sanskrit and his ability to translate that into "understandable" English , his ability to de - mystify and simplify complex verses into simple English is amazing. His anecdotal style is riveting. He wrote serious stuff too , reflecting the life and times of the era. A Train to Pakistan, The Mark of Vishnu are some that stand out.
ITs always a treat to either listening him or reading this great Sardar, departed from us! May your soul RIP Sir. Love from your native town of Haddali, Pakistan.
Visa-problem. Although I have nationality of Denmark, my origin is from Pakistan. And that would be a problem, applying for indian visa. sadly @@KasauliTV
Undoubtedly this is among the best interviews that I have watched. This is the first of Mr. Khushwant Singh. that I have watched, I simply loved it. I have read a few books written by him and he was simply great as a writer.
Horrible n horrific...same vein...Javed Akhtar and Gulzar as poets replacing Ghalib to Rumi It's showing as useless gen....totally unfocused ..making them unworthy of anything ...dependent mentally
Continued:was his forte.Khushwant enjoys tremendous popularity not only in India, abroad as well.He has many awe-inspiring books to his credit such as 'In The Company of Women',Train To Pakistan etc.etc.He was a gallant in the sense that the pages of Illustrated Weekly were always replete with womens' passions and yearnings. He was India's kudos-o,my God we have lost our recognition with his departure!😊
We all bow before his versatality as a writer of great note. The Illustrated Weekly is still preserved on the shelves of his fans---to evoke laughter in the readers through The Illustrated Weekly 18:37 😊
Khushwant Singh one of the best a true Indian and so so readable, you dont get anyone anywhere near close to him in today's media - the sardarji in the bulb
His father sobha Singh testified against Shaheed Bhagat Singh in the Central Legislative Assembly bombing case of 1929. Sobha Singh's testimony was a key factor in Bhagat Singh's conviction and life sentence.
He didn't oppose Emergency and rather enjoyed the patronage of Sanjay Gandhi who was an extra constitutional figure. That is a black mark in an otherwise fine lovable career 😊
He was paid for that, like many were enjoying. Emergency was introduced to cut down anarchism brought in those. Indira was cornered and faught back, which boomeraged. Indira was advised by Sidharth Shankar Ray and VC Shukla too crooks, who enjoyed Sanjay's tantrum. Indira paid for her arrogance but came back within 3 years with thumping majority. If she would not have come back, we would have lost entire punj9b to Khalistanis, as Morarji the crook demoralized RAW by then. But Gandhi family were not saints.
Well well, now I know how Sanjay got his encouragement of extra constitutional acts from uncle Khushwant !! 😅 Just like Sanjay wanted to rule the country without much credentials, his nephew too has tried in vain for so long now. 🤠
Yeah bro, he has faced the partition, the wars and so much more so he knows.Maybe things were different back then and how they present them today is different.

He was a durbari intellectual..overawed by d family
Have you really cared to read his literary works- fiction and non-fiction other than his jokes and syndicated columns?
