Personalizing the period 1965-66 is a way of explaining what PM Shastri had to go through; and later after Shastriji, Madam Indira Gandhi, before Johnson agreed to release wheat. They had their reasons. 1965 war. Read somewhere, that Johnson's daughter forced her father to release the wheat after Indiriaji's visit. Anyway, the wheat was given under a program and someone wrote in Quora, 21% of the import was given to us, free. In my opinion, poultry feed wheat at the cost of regular wheat fit for humans. Please remember, 'nothing is free from the USA'. Great people, I worked there for 6 years; but not a cup-of-coffee is free. In comparison, we Indians, dil-wale hain hum.

I asked my mother, 'what is this .., so hard?' (hard grains, hard chapatis)
She said, 'it's good for you, contains iron'.

This is why you will find people my generation, now in 70s, not above 5' 7" height.
My younger sister, born in 1964; is 5' 7"
My older brother is 5' 4"

Personalizing the period 1965-66 is a way of explaining what PM Shastri had to go through; and later after Shastriji, Madam Indira Gandhi, before Johnson agreed to release wheat. They had their reasons. 1965 war. Read somewhere, that Johnson's daughter forced her father to release the wheat after Indiriaji's visit. Anyway, the wheat was given under a program and someone wrote in Quora, 21% of the import was given to us, free. In my opinion, poultry feed wheat at the cost of regular wheat fit for humans. Please remember, 'nothing is free from the USA'. Great people, I worked there for 6 years; but not a cup-of-coffee is free. In comparison, we Indians, dil-wale hain hum.
This is the first time I have seen this interview and the PM was such a humble human being but also extremely articulate. His death was a great loss to India.

I hope you see this as constructive criticism of your view, and I assure you I am not criticizing you personally.

It was a rare interview by Shastriji, and I really loved it. The candid and measured tone with which he spoke testifies his clarity and confidence on complex issues. Though he was the P.M. of India for only 18 months, he left a lasting impact on the psyche of the common man. This was not a pre-arranged and orchestrated interview that we are watching now a days. It was an era when sincerity and integrity were honored and respected, cutting across party affiliation.
