    Another nice relaxing sloping vid from the Master on a glorious day. That Phoenix looked at peace in flight. There was nothing in this vid that suggested possible avionic performance issues at all. Really stable and smooth. I'm interested to know if you consider this version of Phoenix in the same league as your Fox Glider? Great review Andrew.

  • @gloplg

    You have some nice playgrounds Andrew. I have tracked your maiden/thermal playground down too. They both look lots of fun. I fly in the Heathcote valley in Christchurch. The hills can make an easterly wind a bit interesting at times. I have yet to attempt sloping. Will be interesting!!!

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coastal hills are the easiest but hills are good too if you have a clear area out front.

    • @gloplg
      @gloplg 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Urban Area on the hills. The sports grounds we fly out of are in the lee in an easterly, our prevailing wind, ok in light conditions, interesting when the wind gets up what with my lousy pilot skills :)

    I liked the catch at the end of the vid. Well done. Question please. Does the asw28 wing fit into the fuselage???? I have a wing set ordered. I like to try something different. Inav 2 allows flaperon conversion to spoileron. Allow flaps in CLS. Adjust throw in CLS. Reverse weight in mixer. (But you probably know that) Plane sinks like a stone with crow. I hope you enjoy this craft as much as I enjoy mine!!!!!!

    • @AndrewNewton

      I do need crow! ASW28 doesn't match unfortunately, narrower wing.

  • @ZeeDog2014

    I'm in the process of assembling the V2. Ive read that it is difficult to correct the CG using an 1800 3S. Have you tried to yet and would like to hear how you achieved this.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      2200 3S pushed right back to the wheel arch or a 1300 under the rear strap gets the cg right for gliding (about 7mm behind the marks). It does pitch up with the motor on, so you need to hold forward elevator while climbing, or mix in some elevator to throttle, or ideally tilt the motor down a tiny bit.

  • @wordreet
    @wordreet 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looking like a great sloper Mr A. Could you still achieve the CG without the motor and without adding weight?

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My guess is yes it would be possible, because the battery could slide right forward to the firewall, and it can handle CG back about 10mm

    • @wordreet
      @wordreet 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be interesting, and possibly a whole motor and esc lighter. If you have a suitable receiver pack that is.

    Nice video. Love this phoenix. How’s about rudder authority on V2, comparing with the old p2000? What are the down sides of this version in your opinion if there is any? Nice hand catch btw.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bigger and more effective rudder on the V2. Downsides? The fuselage plastic may be more brittle (untested) and it's a little heavier and fatter.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this is the SE wind site, a few km west of 40W

  • @jo2lovid
    @jo2lovid 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you place the camera on the wing tip, do you fully balance something on the other wing tip? How closely do you need to get the CG laterally?
    The new P2K V2 ticks all the requirements for a great sloper. ;-D

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, yes I do tape a Mobuis sized weight on the other wingtip (underneath) but I also had the recording cam up on a foam block which caused more drag on the left side. It flew terribly like that, reduced lift, more drag, pulling to the left, but worth it for the viewpoint.

    • @jo2lovid
      @jo2lovid 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Andrew, I've managed to send two 2.6 mtr gliders into the dirt because I didn't set the lateral CG. My footage of the rudder and ailerons pointing in one direction while the model flies into the other is quite disconcerting, (including the inevitable crash).
