You can install the drum while the transmission is in the vehicle. I'm a transmission builder and do it all the time. Just need two small pairs of vice grips to hold on to the sensor tabs and rotate back and forth to align clutch plates.
It's very difficult but it can be done, I pulled the drum all the way out took clutches out pulled the gear shaft and inner clutch drum put all together as a set re installed
You’re supposed to put a screwdriver through the hole and pull the pump out. The screwdriver holds the assembly in place while you’re pulling out the pump
It only has to slide forward 3/8" and you're f**ked. To avoid this during reassembly (when mine popped out), install the pump drive shaft first, then align the pump with the shaft. Mine bound up & slid out while pulling the pump housing back out for a second attempt. Dumb, yep.
I'm a little confused what exactly has fallen out of place? In other videos like this one (th-cam.com/video/xhReAfsObSE/w-d-xo.html) the clutch packs seem like they're not flush in the same way yours don't seem flush, yet this person was successful

Got it back together and have like 30,000km on it and it’s been perfect!! 😁👍🏼

Were you able to re-install without pulling the transmission?
@@raynus1160 yes I was! I pulled all the guts out, stacked them up vertically on the pump and then shoved it all in at once 👌🏼

Did you ever get a reply on this? I just pulled mine using a screw driver to hold everything in place, but it looks just like the picture.
