Never thought a short video would enlighten me so much. I've always just focused on the player on the ball and a little bit of what's around him. Then I've been told to not watch who's on the ball, I did that and got overwhelmed and confused at what to watch. You helped with visualizing things like the thirds, the half spaces and the most useful thing is the three lines thing. That along with the tactic section make this a lot easier.

Hey coach, this video was really useful... as a beginner to analyze the game tactically, are there any books recommendations which might help me understand more about different tactics etc
Hi! I’m glad you found the video useful! The best things to read are generally online. Totalfootballanalysis and Coaches Academy are really great tools
Do you think sometimes you can be too analytical as a coach? For example in modern day football coaches like pep guardiola are praised for his intricate tactics and focus on tactical detail yet in big games he is always accused of over complicating the game, other managers such as Alex Ferguson were not necessarily tactically focused and was more strategic and more about man management and generally liked to keep it simple what are your thoughts on this is excessive detail necessary or does a keep it simple approach seem more effective? Really enjoy your content !
At the minute tactics/ analysis is where the game is at. We've become obsessed by analysis, stats, data etc. (this amount of information wasn't necessarily available to Ferguson - so it's difficult to say whether he would've used it! - Because it wasn't available the focus was more on man management) So if you're not using it you will fall behind the curve and at elite level you can't do that. It's all about having the advantage on the opposition no matter how small. This maybe why we've seen certain managers from a similar time to Ferguson, who you wouldn't associate with detailed tactics, analysis, stats etc. Like Mark Hughes be unable to get jobs in the premier league and teams have taken more of a risk with younger managers who are from a generation of managers with tactical flexibility and utilising analysis, stats and data. In terms of whether a detailed tactical approach or a simple approach is better. If everyone is doing it. In order to be successful you need to find that advantage and that means becoming more and more intricate. That doesn't necessarily mean it's the right way. Everything comes down to the manager, players available and expectations of the club. If you use Sam Allardyce as an example - you know you're not going to get much tactical flexibility or creativity, but you'll get difficult to beat and effective football from a very simple approach and it will get results. They're not going to be entertaining performances, but they will win/ draw games that with a more expressive tactical approach they may lose. The interesting thing with football is most of the things we are seeing today have been done before. So Pep draws a lot of his inspiration from Johan Cryff. So who knows, maybe in a few years time a simple man management approach maybe the norm and detailed tactics a thing of the past!
Hi coach. Your analysis steps are precise and very helpful. Do you pause and rewatch parts of the game to understand what happened. I am in the phase where I have to rewatch the game a few times to get a hold of the tactics. Does this improve with time as well
Hi Abhishek! I'm glad you found it helpful. Yes I will rewatch parts of the game. If I'm analysing something specific, so let's say pressing. If I see a successful press I will rewind and watch the press again multiple times to get a clear idea of what is happening. It absolutely improves with time. As you build up experience and knowledge you will be able to quickly recognise different elements
Thank you,Coach. This is a great video. Can you suggest program or app for made vedio presentation for football analysis such as tactic explaination, running line of player, eyes sight of player etc. Thank you for your help.

Hi Louis, analysing transition can present certain challenges, especially as you move into lower leagues. So you need to try and spot patterns within transition. So with attacking transitions, the first players you need to be looking at are the players within the team's rest attack. Who is involved and are they taking up consistent positions. Then you can focus on the actual counter attack. Do the team counter into a specific location (or through specific players) and how is this impacted by the players within the rest attack? Or on the other hand, do the team look to retain and build on transition. What is impacting that? The opposition, game state, etc. With defensive transitions you are mainly answering two questions. Do they counter press? Or do they drop into a mid/ low block? Then your analysis is focused around whichever you answered yes to. How does the counter press look, who is involved, etc.
@@CoachReese thank you so much for taking the time to answer this! I suppose my next question is a bit harder to answer, but just so i have something to work off and then develop myself, do you have a template you like to use tor compiling your analysis? as if you were going to present it on a piece of paper?
No problem Louis! It's actually an easy question to answer! There is a match analysis template available through my gumroad page. You can find it through my channel description or my instagram page

Hi Abioye! I"m planning on introducing livestreams into my weekly video schedule in the near future. Hopefully, during August should everything go to plan!
Hi Aizen, I have a video coming out on it shortly! But it's about understanding and recognising what you're wanting to analyse within a single player. Are you looking at technical components, so how the pass, dribble, shoot etc. Or are you wanting to look at their role within how the team function. So what is the individual roles and responsibilities in possession and out of possession. What areas are they taking up etc.
I really learnt something here, I have subscribed, but like I said last time you need to put some energy in ur videos, coz quality content doesn't always mean people will watch you. I am gonna recommend ur videos to my friends coz you have quality content, but if you wanna them to stick around you have to start watching other TH-camrs talking about football n learn from them.

I’m assuming that it will be something that just gets better the more I do it! But I’ll definitely take your advice on and try and do it when I record and new video next week!

@@CoachReese thank you! it says not currently for sale, so I cant see beyond the first page
@@CoachReese wait never mind! through instagram it works!

Hi Avijit! No problem - I'm glad you found it useful!
Hey coach how do I analyse a player ?
Hi Aizen, I have a video coming out on it shortly! But it's about understanding and recognising what you're wanting to analyse within a single player. Are you looking at technical components, so how the pass, dribble, shoot etc. Or are you wanting to look at their role within how the team function. So what is the individual roles and responsibilities in possession and out of possession. What areas are they taking up etc.
Do you have many for this?
Hi Mare, I have 2 more videos around match analysis
Hi sir am up coming coach and I need more help in Analysis of a game
Hi Mensah! How can I help?
@@CoachReese well I want you to help me to gt more understanding in Possession in shape
I really learnt something here, I have subscribed, but like I said last time you need to put some energy in ur videos, coz quality content doesn't always mean people will watch you. Listen something I noticed in this video is that your teeth are like stitched together, try opening your mouth when you speak, this is something which my teacher told me to do as well. Mate you have to start heyyyyyyyyy guys how you all doing today! This is Reece football..... I am gonna recommend ur videos to my friends coz you have quality content, but if you wanna them to stick around you have to start watching other TH-camrs talking about football n learn from them.
I noticed that too! It’s something I working on. I’ve never really recorded myself or done anything like this before so I definitely open to tips, so thank you, much appreciated. I’m assuming that it will be something that just gets better the more I do it! But I’ll definitely take your advice on and try and do it when I record and new video next week!
Pleased to meet you
