My grandparents used to make maple syrup in upstate New York their both gone now gramps died 40 years ago and grandma died last year at 102 years of age gosh I miss that home made syrup
Awe....sucks when loved ones are gone, Sorry. Maybe you could find a maple or two and do a boil in honor of them. Better yet do it with some family and tell old stories....😊

Brenda - if you cook bacon drizzle a little bit on the bacon just before it’s finished cooking. I like the little bit of sweetness and it cuts the saltiness. Use it to baste ham as well - a little bit of maple syrup, melted butter and a pinch of cinnamon. Yum.
Ya it is great.....it can be used for a lot of different things too. In coffee.....or make marinades or rubs for meats....good stuff
my goodness, is all that liquid you are pouring into the boiler maple sap?! those maple trees you have are amazing. that snow piles up quick 😅 you have to dust your seat off every time you get back on your snowmobile 🤣 I love it when you put the camera on the back, it feels like I'm sitting right behind you when you drive off 😁

So sorry for your late winter weather. We live in Pa but building a small cabin on our land in SC. The challenges of building a cabin 700 miles from home are many. By the way it was 75 here today.

Wow that is some crazy snow for sure!!! I remember a storm when I lived in the outskirts of Chicago we had an April snowstorm come thru around Easter and it buried our car in the driveway....hopefully you didn't get that much...stay warm!
It added up after the whole day to about 10 inches....but it came down hard for a while there.
The snow is pretty. I remember when I still lived in NY, I despised snow this time of year. Thought it would never end. Hopefully your spring comes soon and you can pack away the heavy coats and boots! It was almost 90 here today (sorry,)

We've got about 10 feet, we gave up on plowing and snow blowing a long time ago, we are entering and leaving the house from the 2nd floor. i've dug out our boiler a few times and the door to the shop.

40:1 is the ratio if you have sugar maples.....which I don't think we have. We have a mixed variety of maples and we get between 50-60:1 ratio.
That last batch I boiled in the last video was around 60 gallons of sap I think and I got aboit 110 Oz of syrup.
