Land Rover Series III: Fuel filter change, sedimenter drain and full fuel system bleeding procedure

In this episode I replace my Land Rovers fuel filter, drain the water separator and go through the procedure of a full fuel system bleed on a diesel engine. This could save you a lot of trouble of you run out of diesel by the side of the road and need to bleed the system to be able to restart the car after refueling. Good videos. Your sedementor sometimes gathers algae in it. Best to remove and give it a good clean. Good old Land Rover, they make it so easy to get to these things. 😂👍

Thank you for your tip. When the weather gets warmer I think will drain fuel tank, rinse it and replace the sedementor to be sure. The is also a rust repair I can get to better with the tank out. Jamie 😊

I've never seen that kind of fuel filter on a series. It looks a lot more effective than the inline filter I have.

You only need to drain a little from the sedimentor as the crap and any water will be on the bottom, ie oil floats on water and craps sinks to the bottom👍🏻

This has been really helpful thanks. I made the same mistake with the fuel filter and now have to bleed the whole system. Out of interest how long did it take to prime the whole system. I’ve been trying for about 15 minutes and gave up. Any help would be great.

Hello there and glad the video helped but sorry to hear you're having trouble bleeding. It didn't take long at all to bleed. Are you sure there are no leaks anywhere and everything is tightened?

@@jamiedowson6482 Thanks Jamie. It was running until I changed the fuel filter and then I’ve struggled to get any fuel through so I was interested in how long it took. I’ll try the bleed nipples over the weekend. Wish me luck.

Hello from Germany. I will flush out the whole coolant system soon and refill with the green coolant and mix it to cope with Finnish winters. Thanks for watching. Jamie
