An almost exact copy of the dune buggies we built back in the 1960s, which were copies of the buggies guys were building in the 1950s. Lots of fun on the back roads. Most of ours were built in early 1950s Chevys so had six-bangers and had three-on-the-tree...

We did the same thing when I was that age 25 years ago. Had a ford inline six in mine. It's better to see kid's out doing stuff like that than just sitting around doing nothing.
the engine is so heavy that about 20 pounds are on the back wheels... and the fact that there are only brakes on the front tires..

Hey man, I'm one of Em, got me the dreams of fixin stuff, and a dream to build my own 350 small block Chevy, already built a predator 212cc 6.5 hp almost from the block up. And I'm 14 so I got a lot of cars to fix in my days to come.
My brother and I built one of these beasts 50 years ago. We took a rolled 57 Ford with a 312 T-Bird engine and auto trans. pulled the body off and shortened the frame 3'. Built a homemade 6 point roll bar. (Better than nothing) Seat belts were out of a wrecked T-Bird I think. On a measured 1/4 mile in front of our house, 5 run average of 14.2 secs, timed with a stopwatch. Not bad for a couple of fucking farm boys and $150.00. We called it an irrigation buggy because that's what we used it for.

Just looks like a k5 frame with a seat dropped on it. Don't see anything needing welded to make that just undo cab mount bolts yank the body and throw a seat on

Brian Brewer how did they shorten the chassis, this wasnt originally a truck, they just removed the entire casing and trunk part of the car or hack saw'd it off
***** They moved the rear axle forward and shortened the drive shaft, or just got rid of the drive shaft all together and bolted the tranny right up to the rear end and bolted the rear axle to the frame. After they took off the "casing" (body) of course.
***** i dont know about that it most likely was a truck because most cars dont have frames they are unibody meaning its just one big chunk unlike a vehicle mostly trucks will have frames for box and the cab to sit on

Looks like the one we built in our teens. Unfortunately with a short wheelbase and manual steering, it can be a handful. Our throttle locked wide open during one burnout, no ignition switch or kill switch, and we lost control very quickly. Ending up flipping it end over end off an embankment.

Bud there is 4 plug wires in to each head. 3 collecter tubes doesn't equal 3 cylinder per head. The cylinders number 3 and 5 as well as 2 and 4 dump in to the center exhaust manifold collecter. Look at any stock 305 327 or 350 from at least 1970 on and you will see. Now unless you HAVE ANY FUCKING IDEA WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT kindly fuck off and get educated.

Tom7601 could not have said it better! I built my first one( we called "it" a frame) out of a '49 Ford flat head V8,the second one out of a '57 ford. 6cyl 3 speed. And #2 did have a roll bar and a few other things to make "it" better!!

First of all they are exhaust manifolds and the middle pipe is responsible for the middle 2 cylinders on each side.

Add a roll cage and a racing seat and you'd have a real ringer for Chumpcar or the 24hrs of Lemons. Though I'm thinking more like S10 frame with a V10 out of a Ram. Put the driver behind the rear axle to help the weight distribution. You need a biiiiig gas tank, too.

kenupcmac The chassis is a 1973-87 C10. They just took the cab off and cut the frame off in the back and moved the axle up. So yes, it does fit the truck category.

We dropped a 383 stroker and 4 speed into a little nissan pickup back before everyone had phones with cameras.. Last I heard that truck is still running around texas. With the rear end locked up that truck is scary fun.. I've seen a sbc 350 gokart and that thing was a white knuckle death trap that could leave rubber on pavement better than a lambo..
