I just installed today, November 5, 2024, the new version of OpenCore 2.1.1 on two of my computers, the first a MacBook Pro 2017, once after updating the application it restarted and did not come back to life, it stayed in the apple and It damaged the operating system that I had to install Ventura on. In the second one, a 2015 MacBook Pro did grab and restart fine, but all the applications no longer worked until files were deleted, the Sequoia system stopped working altogether. I wanted to install open Core again in 2017 and I get a kind of error that makes me install the patches but when I restart the computer and enter the application again, it again asks me to install patches, and I did it like 10 times and never I was able to use the program as such, however in 2015 the open Core program no longer opened. In summary, it seems that this latest update is killing the equipment, I recommend not updating the application at least until it is known what is happening. I think it is a mistake in the latest version. If you have a solution and this happened to you, could you help me?
Hello @Anson Alexander, I have installed macOS Sonoma on my MacBook Pro mid 2015 and it runs great but I have a update to 15.1 in the system settings and want to ask you if you find it good to do it because of the security patches. Should I follow the same procedure as installing Sonoma the first time with a USB drive and erasing the SSD and then make a clean install of 15.1 ? Thank you for your videos and keep up the great work :D
I would use the USB method but I wouldn’t worry about doing a clean install, just backup files you don’t want to lose and install 15.1 right on top of 15.
I actually tried for 2 hours for this update (since I didn't have a flash drive). You can even see in the video 15.1 wasn't even showing up - although it did on certain restarts and didn't on others. At the end of the day, I wish I had just done the method I showed in the video to begin with and I would have spent a lot more time on the update. If it worked for you though, that's great. I'll certainly give it another shot when 15.2 comes out. :D
I've followed your tutorial but i keep on getting an error of failure to install at the last stage, i am upgrading MacBook pro mid 2012 updating from catalina
@@AnsonAlexander for those who are having white screen issue. Please check this comment and do the root patch again. My issue got resolved thanks to this comment.
I have been hesitant to to update my 15 inch 2016 MacBook Pro because it has the touch strip and fingerprint reader. I have heard that a clean installation of the OS will wipe the chip and the touch strip will stop functioning. Any truth to that? I do see the 2016 MacBook Pro listed, but ya, still a little nervous about it. 🙄 When I got this it was a top of the line machine, I would hate to turn it into a useless hunk of metal, I use the touch bar all the time.
I have a 2017 Macbook Pro with the touch strip and fingerprint reader. I upgraded to 15.0, 15.0.1, and 15.1 using OCLP and the fingerprint reader and touch strip worked perfectly after each upgrade.
I have a 2016 13" pro with the Touch Bar and yea the Touch ID button stopped working and sometimes the Touch Bar doesnt function correctly or might be slow
Every things running fine but my mac book pro retina mid 2012 , 4hrs battery timing equal to 1hr and laptop become so hot and fan running with high speed???
Now I get the 'failed to create macos installer' error while using open legacy patcher to create a bootable drive for sequoia please help I can't even create a bootable drive , I was using the sequoia beta
I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I find that my battery drains very quickly since I did the update to sequoia. I have a 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro. Is this normal? Should I downgrade to Sonoma? Or will it get better over time?
Ever since I updated to Sequoia 15.0, from Sonoma 14.7, my 2012 MacBook Pro lost its ability to do the screen extension to iPad. My iPhone camera extension is now buggy compared to Sonoma. Do you know if Sequoia 15.1 resolved these issues? Thanks!

Apple Intelligence is only available for Macs with Apple Silicon chips. I only have Intel Macs at the current moment so won’t be using Apple Intelligence for the time being.
Do not install this I installed sequoia on my iMac and it was laggy slow and awful I had to erase my entire system and had to reinstall everything It basically broke my system
For every person who says the update didn't go well, there are 5 that claim Sequoia is running great. It would be more helpful if you would post your Mac specs (year, model, etc.) to provide more specific detail and helps users running the same system as you.
Root patches can mess up with your OS completely. I remember I got a new patch for my old iMac and once I went through the installation process the OS stopped responding completely after rebooting. So it's not always the best case to install it, please read online if everything will be ok with your model.
You may have some things confused here. If you're installing unsupported macOS, you should absolutely run post-install root patches. Every single time. No exception.
Revisited Sonoma with the latest Oclp via usb install , Greatly improved performance and very usable on my Mac MIni 2014.

Make sure you give OpenCore full disk permissions in the Privacy & Security section of System Settings.

You need to install Sonoma first, then update to Sequoia or it will not work
