You can defenitely can mushrooms. You just need to pressure can them. I did up sliced mushrooms in broth as a mushroom soup starter. Just heat, add cream and blend!
The blueberry pie dessert makes me sooooo hungry! Your kids are precious too (so are the baby chicks!!!!). Cute overload in a pantrpy video. I love it!
I got free pears last year we just had to pick them. I canned so much pears that we will have pear sauce and pear butter for a couple years. I also purchased seconds of apple and peaches and canned them like crazy and planting the seeds! I now have peach apple and plum trees that are about 4 inches tall.
Wow you really knocked it out of the park! Well done. Just be aware that the seeds you planted won't necessarily produce the exact fruit they came from. It will interesting for you to see what they do produce!
@@VenisonforDinner that is the best part! I am enjoying watching the 4 inch tall trees growing and hope and pray that I don’t end up with crabapples for the apple trees. When doing this you really never know what you will get. The plums will be fine because they are wild plums and only the size of a cherry. The apple and the peach will be a surprise because I don’t know the rootstock. The worst case will be they don’t produce any fruit and that will not be too horrible because I can turn them into wood for the smoker. So far they have cost me nothing. They are living in a old pot on the porch that had weeds growing in it. My thoughts is I will see what God gifts me.
Not sure why you aren't suppose to but I know my sister who is a die hard forager cans tons of them every year, mostly chanterelles since that is the most plentiful. When I lived close to her I enjoyed tagging along but since moving cross country I don't do any foraging. It was nice having those canned and dried mushrooms for the off season. Glad to say none of us died from home canned mushrooms.
I think I just learned something about my instapot from Freya! I always struggle with what to do with the lid. She is becoming such a helper in the kitchen.
We just sat down to watch this after our dinner of chicken and rice casserole (with broccoli instead of beans) AND banana bread for dessert. The kids thought it was hilarious that it was the same thing as what y’all ate.
I can mushrooms and it was from one of the recommended safe canning jar books! I never heard that I shouldn't. Is this maybe just a Canadian thing? WOW I need to do some research on this.
It can depend on the variety of mushrooms I think. I've pressure canned ones from the grocery store and they are the same as store bought canned. I'm canadian
I always enjoy your vlogs. Just wanted to say thank you again for all of your hard work that you put into them. Looking forward to a baby goatie update 💜
I have eggs that went into lock down today in the incubator I had to borrow from my aunt cause mine decided to die a week into incubating this batch* it's been 7 years on the bator, it's the fan in it so hubs is gonna replace it when he gets a chance*
Quick question: I'm curious about why you leave such a big gap at the tops of your canning jars? For the pressure canned things, I assume that's protocol, but for the regular canned things, like applesauce, I'm curious about your rationale.
Do you have a recipe for canning your potatoes. I’ve tried canning potatoes once and did not like the taste. They tasted liked instant potatoes of the lowest quality. So, I haven’t tried them since.
My recipe for canning potatoes is in my ebook "Anywhere You Go". But I'm sure there are others out there if you didn't want to buy the cookbook. Ours taste like boiled potatoes.

I love seeing you teach your kids life long skills when they are so young. You are great parents.
So much fun seeing all the happenings on your homestead. Your children are learning so many priceless skills. Thank you for sharing with us!

Thanks so much! 😊
Wow Freya is such a accomplished little girl in the kitchen for being so young. You’ve done a great job mom.
Thank you so much!
Freja’s creation - yummy! Good job, Freja!
We need the recipe for the blueberry strudel, it looks delicious!
Here is the strudel recipe. It was originally made with apples.

Lovely episode. Congratulations on the successful hatch! I love to watch your videos with my toddler son and name all the farm animals.
The casserole looked delicious! Loved the baby chick

Good to hear of someone who successfully cans them!! I love having all the dried mushrooms on hand for making salt!

You quickly have become one of my favourite homestead to follow!

Hey! Met you on the family cow page. Glad to find your channel here.
Not everybody can look at an egg and know who laid it! Well done!

Yummy blueberry strudel
That casserole looks delicious!
Best video cooking and your kids are priceless!

I canned them up from the book too, in water. Came out just like store bought.

wish they were longer ☺
Hi Kate! I saw your ferments in the background!! I need I need the link to where you got yours and you thoughts on if it works well
My mom always canned everything, no matter how much, because sometimes a couple years might go by before you get another bumper crop.
That is so true!

oh man that's a drag. Hope they hatch out well.
When you are hatching your eggs when do you turn off your egg turner or take the egg turner out? Thanks for the reply and love the videos!
you want to at least turn it off ..
Yes always take the egg turner out. The chicks are going to want to walk around while they’re in there and peck at their slower siblings!
We turn off the egg turner on day 18 and take it out of incubator at the same time.
Freja seems so big!
Awww so cute. 🇨🇦🌷
Hi pantry looking great well done
Xx😚😚😚😚
Thank you 😊

Oh gosh! Thank you. Happy to give you some laughs!
Your oldest needs his own youth u tube channel ! He needs to provide an avenue for others his age to grow. What an awesome child!
That is a lovely sentiment and suggestion.
What is fermenting on your countertop? You have mason jars there.
That one really cheered me up! 🐣🐥
Thank you! A question, how do you use your canned beef? I canned some but don't know how to use it.🤦
Canned beef for last minute meals. We also use it for tacos (ground), stew, pot pie, soup. Anywhere you would use shredded/stee beef.
happy to see new video
Hope you enjoyed it!
I'm just setting eggs today.😊
Good luck!!
Uhhhhh… my best batch of feta melted in my brine also!!! I just assumed I didn’t eat it all fast enough?
I am curious how do you get meat into those small neck screwtop bottles to can?Thank you so much for the video enjoy it.
I think she said mead. The honey based beverage.
Yes, it is mead - which is a fermented honey based alcohol drink
I believe that you run on Energized batteries!!!
Hahahaha....those batteries do eventually run out!
Have you ever canned spicy Dilly beans? We can't get enough of them.
No we haven't. Not sure they would be very popular around here. Maybe I'll have to try a small batch this summer?
