Hope you get a lovely new years Kate! ❤ playing board or cardgames with the family is such a wonderful experience. When i look back on my own childhood gamenights deff comes on my top ten list of happy memories. ❤
Oh I so relate to wanting to buy experiences but it just not being in the budget or giving them but then never getting around to fulfilling the promised experience. I love the idea that they stay wrapped and it’s an extended surprise and just builds anticipation. Plus you could number them for the number of kids/family members so each person gets a chance to open one!
I’m a major thrifter - for fun. This year we are so broke that we HAD to buy gifts there. I didn’t mind. My kids are 3 and 18 months old so they are destructive and used toys are easier to have for us. Love this!
Oh my gosh we had battleships years ago, we all loved it. Happy Christmas and New Year to you all. I still love the look of your new stove, it is so pretty.
We love getting gifts at thrift stores and I’m grateful that my 12 year old daughter doesn’t care where it came from or if it’s used. The family game night snacks are a great idea! I’m going to implement that next year for sure :)
From our thrift stote, I bought two adorable State plates for my oldest daughter as part of her Christmas gift. She LOVED them. Regarding the Operation game and losing pieces, we bought one for our kids several years ago and it was missing a piece right out of the box! So, ya never know even with new toys how it's gonna go! Happy New Year!!!
Great finds & I’m sure the littles loved them all! I still give my grown kids things from thrift shops whenever I find something unique & they appreciate it more now. That stove is beautiful, Kate! All the best to you all in 2024! 🤗💕🇨🇦
We buy gifts at thrift stores all the time. We are aware we need to be aware of who the gifts are going to and if that is acceptable to them..... Thrift store accepters may get more and bigger gifts!
Love that last line!! As well as the one before it. Not everyone is ok with secondhand. (it also might be something they will eventually come around to)
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Love getting thrifted gifts for my family. I picked up a vintage set of 6 metal cookie cutters to give my 18 yr old daughter for Christmas at a church thrift store. She's started her own cookie baking business. She does decorated sugar cookies for holidays. She loved the cutters! The game night idea with the box of snacks is an awesome idea! I'm going to share that idea with a friend who has 4 young kids. Looking forward to watching what you got planned for next week! God bless and may 2024 be a year of abundance and peace for your family.
Hello from Amish country, Lancaster county PA! I really enjoy watching your videos. Loved the idea of game snacks. our kids are 4, 2.5, & 6 months so right now we're only able to play Candy Land & Go fish but I look forward to using your idea later on. PS: we thrifted our kids gifts too! Amazing what you can find... have a blessed new year. :)
We did our family gathering this year and played dirty santa...everyone had to buy from a thrift store, yard sale, auction, etc. $10 or less. We had soooo much fun seeing what everyone found. We had all kinds of things...There were so many items I would have loved to take home. Everyone said it was the best dirty Santa game we have had in years. Soo much fun.
My daughter got my grandson a huge bag of the big Lego blocks at the local thrift store for Christmas. He got a lot of other stuff at 3 years old but it was one of his favorite things! I have always looked for things at second hand before purchasing new. Both myself and my daughter got are bread machines second hand. I got mine on marketplace and gave 50 dollars for a name brand that I wanted and she got hers at the same thrift shop for 2 dollars! Both work amazing and are used often
Love your game night ideas, we always did family fun night and it was pizza and games usually it would be on Fridays. Love your channel been watching for a while but don’t comment much. Blessings for the new year!
I love your wood stove!! 🙌🙌 I am trying to figure out where to put one. I have the fake model, gas and electric, but everyone walks in my kitchen and lives it. 😊
One Christmas us girls got tons of new in packages jammies, the four of us got so many we could wear a new pair every night for a month without wearing them a second night. I also got a 3-foot Barbie house with an elevator, my mom just added new barbies and furniture. That was the best Christmas ever of my childhood-- my uncle was a garbage man. The barbie house was on the side of the road and the jammies were in a dumpster
I did buy a few thrift gift this year, but I gave them on the side...Saying, Hey, I found this and thought of you! It was a winner! Love the idea of delayed gratification game night promises!!! What a great way to develop relationships...
My "friend" bought me a candle for Christmas. Someone else had started to burn it. On the bottom it was marked $.25! I know it's not about the gift but really!
Kate, help. I've been having so much trouble with my sauerkraut! This is the third batch that has gone south and turned into the most horrifying mass of white mold that smells like hell's gulch. I'm using regular jars and those pickle nipple tops. But they keep rotting on me. I'm not sure what's wrong!
@@jenniferr2057 Thank you! Tap water...I know, I know but I've had a few batches work fine with tap water so I'm not sure now. What do you suggest? What is it about the water that is important for this, chlorine levels? Also, is it possible that I'm not using enough water? I usually fill the water an inch above the line of cabbage and about half an inch below the rim of the jar. Thoughts?
@@CameoFarmer So many thoughts! I don't use tap water. Chlorine kills the ferment. If I can't buy a spring water, or use the water from my Alexipure, I boil them cool my tap water, or let it set out 24hours before using so the chlorine evaporates. I also don't add water to my kraut at all.... but a do add a shredded apple or onion to feed the ferment. And I love to add the many flavors!
@@jenniferr2057 You don't add water at all? What do you use instead? The juices from the cabbage haven't been enough to cover the cabbage for me. So if the fermenting is killed by the chlorine does is that the reason why it then just rots instead? I've added carrot and ginger, I like that flavor combo. Could it just be the water that is my problem? Any other things I should know or look out for?
@@CameoFarmer The one and only time I have had dubious ferment was tap water. And we eat ferment daily, for years. I add combos of onion, garlic, apple, carrot, cilantro, peppers to my krauts... Curtido, I think it's called. We LOVE it. We squeeze the heck out of the cabbage with salt and PACK it in. Has always been enough liquid. You could add a little juice from a successful ferment... I don't think I have ever had to add more liquid. I will admit my spouse does the squeezing part... Very strong hands. Where are you in the world? I think it matters... The fresher the cabbage, the more liquid....

I love thrift store gifts. If you are buying something for me from the thrift store, that usually means you know me well enough to know what I like!
Love that!

You got a Mac Book at the thrift!! Score!!! Happy happy Christmas to you and your beautiful family.
I think it was math book. I thought the same 🤣🤣
@@britsco123 that makes sense, and also a great thrift find!!!
Wow that’s an amazing score!!

This year is one of the first years we've purchased brand new gifts for our kids Christmas. We almost always thrift their gifts.
That is so cool! (and there is nothing wrong with buying new stuff too right?)

Merry Christmas, great video

Nice gifts! Love the family night game with snacks idea. So fun. Val C
Some second hand gifts are perfectly fine. But I know someone that got a used bathrobe that wasn't in the best condition. Unacceptable in my opinion.
I absolutely agree with you particularly for something like clothing. It has to be in mint condition or something pretty darn unique!

1 persons trash is another person’s treasure.
