I love your red kitchen! It comes across as very warm and homey.
I have two Texasware confetti bowls, my grandpa gave them to my mom when she was married 60 years ago.
It's heartwarming to see a young person who appreciates and respects things from times past. You're a gem!

Patty here! Kitchen section is my first stop at thrift stores too. My hubby had housewares category in his 41 year grocery career so I had the latest stuff all the time. But my heart was always vintage! By God’s directing my life and my love for the elderly I’ve helped 4 or 5 widows over the last few years declutter, organize, downsize and even move. I’ve received some really special items including 4 handmade quilts to name just a few things. I wasn’t blessed to have great grandmothers and grandmothers in my life so God using my love for these ladies to bless me so much has been special. I’m 63 and as you said I could continue to collect retro kitchen items but try to be very sparing with purchases. I bake almost daily but I give lots away when I go visiting. It nurtures my soul… I love how young you are and still love the old ways 🥰🙏🏻

Red cabinets have such a retro charming 50s cottage or patriotic feel. You could match it with lots of red appliances or kitchen tools ❤ with the red flowers! Or a 🍒 cherrys or apples 🍎 motif would be cute! Red flower bowl Compliments it perfectly.!

I can't tell you how much I love this video! I have so many antique kitchen items, mostly from my grandparents on both sides, and from a beloved great aunt. It's funny to see that some of the things I got for my wedding shower in 1978 are now considered antique! I still use my hand mixer I got in 1978. I do 'rescue' the occasional antique bowl or kitchen item from Goodwill. You are a very interesting young lady!

The Fire King mixing bowls, made by Anchor Hocking, might be genuine milk glass. You can tell if you hold them up to the liight they have "ring of fire" (you can maybe google it). I love vintage kitchen wares, too! So unique and different from what’s available today and much better quality. My husband actually proposed to me in the kitchen section of an antique/thrift store where we used to go looking for treasures all the time. He placed my ring in a jadeite dish when I wasn’t looking then pointed to it and said, “hey, what’s that?” On the little white price tag were the words “will you marry me?” Thankfully I still have the dish, the ring, and him. Needless to say vintage kitchen ware has a special place in my heart!

    Corie-
I am also a sucker for vintage kitchen ware. So much so that we recently moved and I filled half a storage bin with dishes. I really didn’t realize I had so many. But like you I see it and like it so I get it even though I don’t need it. My husband is precious. He goes along with my wants (most of the time).

Hey Corie, yep your orange measuring spoons are a product of the '70's! I know this for sure because I married for the first time in 1971 and was given those very same spoons on a matching plastic ring as a shower gift. I've still got the smallest spoon today (1/8th tsp) which is in use in a salt canister.

I love vintage kitchen stuff. I used to collect old pyrex bowls and corelle dishes, but I accumulated too many of them so I had to stop that! But they certainly don't make things like they used to: sturdy AND pretty. And I love the 70s and 80s colors and designs (for the most part). I love the Golden Girls, too. I have a collection of Griswold frying pans that I have seasoned with the foods that only go into certain pans. They have never been washed with soap. I boil them out and wipe them down, and store them in a dry area. I watched my Pyrex stacking bowls slide out of the cabinet, and it broke the ones on the inside of the biggest bowls. I forgot to mention that they came with plastic storage lids. They were a Christmas gift collection from the 80's. I love your house. It's beautiful. I love to see you collecting kitchen and glassware! I have collected Shawnee Pottery, gold and some platinum plated glassware, Pyrex bowls (the ones that have a clear round circle in the bottom), silver plated flat ware and Wyatt pottery for over fifty years! I come from my Mama, grandmother and several aunts that have collected kitchen glassware and stuff. My Mama and I went on what I called holiday each year collecting our stuff. I worked as a RN for 35 years. My Mama would keep up when I had gathered up vacation time. She would call me and say, “ we need to go somewhere “ . She picked out where she wanted to go and we went! St Louis, MO down to the boothhill of MO, eastern Kentucky, West Virginia (Amy aunt lived there), Ohio and northeastern Ar. My Mama had collected all she wanted, but she still liked to go in antique malls and thrift stores. She would sit in the front and talked to whomever was at the desk while I looked around. Our last holiday we went to Zaneville, Ohio. That is where Shawnee pottery was made. We were able to go to the Fenton art glass factory in West Virginia also. My Mama collected Fenton. Go antiquing, junking, thrifting as much as possible with your Mom. I have so many good, fun memories of me and Mamma on holiday. She died six years ago from pancreatic cancer. I have declined to the point of having to use a wheelchair these days. My husband takes me and pushes me anywhere I want to go. I know you are a true collector from the way you talk about your kitchen treasures! I started collecting silver plated flatware about eight or nine years ago. I have found so many pieces in thrift and junk stores. I look for the hallmarks and make sure all the silver is not worn off. I do buy flatware from EBay. I have a good set of new silver plate I am collecting. So far four place setting of the starter stuff, spoons, forks, knifes and a couple of serving pieces. I try to buy a piece or two when I have extra fun money. So keep on collecting and going with your Mom and sister to antique malls and thrift stores. The memories you make are priceless. 😊
