I rebuilt the entire motor, put a Lectron carb on it, 125 springs in the front an rear (im only 145 lbs and ride goat trails) Its been the best woods bike I've ever owned. I live in the PNW so its always steep, wet, rutted, bolders and root wads. You can idle it all day but wick the throttle anytime you want and it will lite like a rocket and never foul a plug.
Pro tip for grip replacement: Aqua Net aerosol hair spray. It lubes the grip just enough to easily slide on, and once it dries it basically acts like a glue to keep the grip in place. Been doing this for years.
Awesome. Another winner in the books. The carb being dirty along with that tear in the boot probably meant the bike was getting very little or no fuel. Good job.

I only had to replace it cuz the deck rusted out. All of my equipment runs on non-ethanol gas and synthetic Marine 2-stroke oil. You have a fantastic channel and it is a wealth of knowledge.
Would be a better idea to grip an item in the vice when drilling or applying force with any sharp object, ask me why I know. Keep up the excellent work bud.

That chain would be tighter if you had the bottom roller. You need to do live feeds when you do this so we can tell you what you dont catch. A ton of eyes are better then two. Keep up the good work and put the darn roller on it befor you bust the case.
Nice to see you catch a break for once Joe!! Great video!! You should invest in a Mac or Snap-On 10mm flare nut wrench for those pesky chain adjuster nuts. Keep up the great work Joe. Your work ethic is impressive.
Not sure if anyone pointed it out bu your rear chain guide and roller are missing. So if you don't won't the chain to derail id get them on there. But dang did you get a great bike. That yz 250 motor is amazing

Another great 2 stroke ready to rip!! Awesome job! Just a suggestion tho.. maybe a full in depth video of you tearing down and rebuilding one of these gunked up carbs.. thx Joe
Hey Joe, I really appreciate and enjoy your videos, you’re definitely working hard to get this channel going. I know it takes time to video and editing, along with scouring the web site’s for new and interesting stuff to rescue. I have a couple of questions, 1. Where did you learn how to repair ATV’s and Motorcycles? And 2. Do you sell some of them once you get them fixed and going? Keep up the great work!!!
😮😮😮😮 You are so right in case study . Good Surprise in a crapshoot is unusual in your game. I do like a bit more challenging adventure for you. Following till the next adventures. 😊😊😊😊😊
You should get a nice tub for cleaning the parts with varsol it cleans really good i use to use that in a garage when i was a kid cleaning my carbs and other parts works wonders when you like to get your hands on parts instead of using ultrasonic cleaner
It really makes me wonder whats going thru some peoples heads that once their bike wont start they just give up and sell it immediately. 2 stroke bikes are like the easiest things to fix!
I have noticed with all your two stroke bikes you run 40-1 and if your easy on the bike that is fine but when you are ripping them hard you should be mixing at 32-1 I run 32-1 all my riding life never fouled a plug or had a seizure and running a more oil mixture you get more compression out of the engine love the videos keep it up
Something that is kinda funny that we do in this country when starting a bike with a choke circuit is that we crack the throttle when kicking a bike. Cracking the throttle deletes the choke circuit because it works off of suction. European guys will kick a bike three or four time really slow and leave the throttle closed so the choke circuit can suck fuel up to the cylinder, Then they kick it like got a set and crack the throttle. Once I learned this I found myself having an easier time with starts and not having to kick the crap out of something to get it started.
You’re describing exactly how I was taught to start a cold bike as a kid. I never understood everyone goosing the throttle while kicking the bike. I got a 2000 YZ426F several years back for a song because the guy couldn’t start it. He didn’t understand the compression release and would give it gas trying to start it! lol. We agreed on a dirt cheap price, and he damn near died when I fired it second kick and road it onto the trailer.
I know i would enjoy i think others too. If you built a work shop that is not connected to the house and document it as well this spring that way you have the room for bigger and better things as well as room to store the toys in as well. And it is just plainly the safest and best thing to do.
Nice find Joe.. for what you paid even if you have to do a top end, heck even if you had to split the case, you're still up because they just DON'T make bikes like they used to, and that's a pretty sweet example.. Other than the dented exhaust pipe, but man they ALL get laid down sooner or later..

I used to do electrical and I ran a lot of wires through rubber grommets.
Spray paint works better and dries slower or dawn.
