Just jumped onto the mission editor last night to have a look and it was a little confusing, had a look at the tutorials and they were okay but this has helped so much more, great video! really helpful. :) Thanks!
Great video but one tip. If you want to have a blufor or opfor stay where they are until activated by a trigger, you would put down a hold waypoint right on the squad leaders blue dot then link that to the trigger to and set it to "skip waypoint" so it will skip the waypoint and move on to the next maybe you want the squad to move after holding, that's how you do it. Hope this helped some people :)

Just a bit of criticism, I would not worry about all of the basics of EDEN. I would just work on teaching the BASICS of the Trigger. About 6 minutes were spent on basic controls of Eden editor. Great video helped a ton. Thank you!

I need help please. I recreated this exactly the same, the only difference is the place. But the independent units move as soon as the game begins. I don't have any mod though. I cannot figure out what is wrong!
I do the exact same thing you are doing but doesn't work. As in the guys I want to go "attack" the position where the blufor guys walk through. The opfor guys just keep going to there next waypoints.
I'm wondering if this doesn't work with certain modded units. While trying to create an OPTRE mission, I did exactly this, and they completely ignored trigger activation. They just continued the waypoints I set for them, even when no BLUFOR units were in the trigger. I experimented with this multiple times in multiple locations, and it was always the same thing. It's as though the trigger just isn't there. I've watched this video a dozen times and I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I need help with the marker sizes. I'm trying to set up and ALiVE campaign which requires placement of markers. However its impossible for me to tell the size of the markers in eden editor. I put it 10x10 and as I zoom the marker grows in size(and vice versa when zooming in) I figure okay, Altis is a big map. I'll do 1500x1500, all of a sudden it covers the WHOLE map.
If I were to make a trigger that activated when something was destroyed, would I set it to "not preset"? Because I'm trying to make a couple of helos wait for extraction.
Thanks for the guide. I jumped on Eden Editor as soon as it was officially released, and coming from the 2D editor I found it tricky, even though it was supposed to be easier. Just minor changes here and there that confused me. So much so that I stayed in 2D to complete my editing needs (stick with what you know). If I may trouble you with a quick Q, I have a 3-man unit that are located on a tower, and I want them to stay aware (in order to defend if fired upon and such) but I am having the hardest time getting them to stay in the tower. Every time I start the level, they spread apart, go down, how do I make them hold position without losing awareness of potential enemy presence? Kudos again for the great videos, you got a new subscriber.
So I use rhs for my paradrop but my plane never go to the waypoint. Instead it lands at another airfield or just flees from enemy and guns. I put it on careless but it still runs. Please help. I'll even show what mods I use please help...

What i have, is an trigger that will notify the civillian side only that they have entered a restricted area. Now, what i want, is that when the civillian enters the restriced trigger, BLUEFOR will be notified with: Someone just entered Avier Island! Respond ASAP!
Hi, I'd like to make a scenario but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I want a team on a beach to wait for boats to come pick them up. When the boats arrive, I want me team to get in a boat, then the boat leaves with me and my team to another shore... I tried something but when I start my guys on the beach won't wait and they want to get on the boats that are 700+ meters away... Anyone help? Thanks
I’m trying to get it to where I have me and my group of 18 ai to get in two separate helicopters and get those helicopters to fly to a point and drop us off and head back to base to pick up after the mission is completed. I’m having so much trouble with it

+Schlimster I did a very fast video so I can upload it and you can see an example, but you just double click the "trigger" and there is a category called "trigger:timer". you can set the all the timer values to one value like "15" and once the trigger is activated they will wait 15 seconds. The seconds are chosen randomly though so if you want 15 set min mid and max to 15

Thanks for the help! I still have a problem though. I'm setting up a simple mission where some troops arrive at a militia checkpoint, and when they arrive it triggers a Russian helicopter. The heli is supposed to come and do a fire mission, seek and destroy or destroy the destination, but it won't fire, even though independent and blufor are enemies to opfor... hmm.
Doesn't work for me. I set all the OPFOR waypoints to MOVE, link the first one to the trigger, (which is set just like you did,except it's guarded by OPFOR), but the OPFOR units just move to their final waypoint as soon as the scenario starts, not when BLUFOR gets into the trigger area
Question, how can I go in the Zeus mode and watch the AI fight? I know in the old editor when you place units down if they're in distance they automatically engage each other. However with the new one you have to be someone to start the mission and if you die you have to restart the whole thing. Any way to get around this?

If it hasn't been mentioned yet, to spawn an empty vehicle hold the Alt key when you drag the vehicle onto the map.

Great tutorial! FYI, "Guarded by" is a special trigger type that causes units of that side to guard that area if they have a waypoint to "guard."

op knows shit. go to edit: trigger - Trigger: Activation - set Type to "Skip Waypoints" from the list.

Not working in Arma 3 Ultimate Edition. When I do that the AAF just move and seeks, not stop at all.

I HAVE FOLLOWED THIS STEP BY STEP AND THE AMBUSHING SIDE JUST RUNS DOWN THERE AS SOON AS IT STARTS. DOES NOT WAIT FOR BLUFOR TO TRIGGER

To be fair though : there is a Help menu with links to the official Wiki and a list of the Script commands.

hmm do you have its firemode set correctly so it engages?

Just place down a civilian unit and make that the player while testing. They will not engage you and you can watch the fight freely! have fun!
