Loved, loved this conversation, very informative. I love how Bonga is taking on motherhood, “is baby healthy and alive”. A lot of new moms go through a lot with everyone dishing out advices. I loved what Given said about being there for the mom, that’s very wonderful. And also having friends and family checking up on the dad because he’s also going through it all as well. I didn’t even know that new dads also go through this whole process. Thank you guys for this informative conversation.
Discussion at 33:40 - I just finished Gabor Mate's when the body says no, which elaborates on the impact of the lack of community on autoimmune diseases and other chronic illnesses. Oprah's what happened to you does also touch on this. The findings have made me think about the need to be intentional about having a support system and just to think about what I would like my family structure to look like one day (I do understand the curve balls in this).
Awwwww I like Given's involvement and perspective about this. I also like Bonga's perspective on this parenthood thing. Thanks for being vulnerable with us
Beautiful chat TCC fam. One thing about being a new parent - it’s epiphany upon epiphany shem😅. Congratulations to you both Bonga and Given. The most notable thing for me in this chat was the agency that you both are able to exercise over the parenting process. Having children when you are ready for them is so underrated. I did not have a lot of that because I was a third year student when I fell pregnant and my parents literally shipped me back to school a month after I gave birth. I had no room to even feel let alone process the changes and emotions that come with it all. I had over supply of milk but living at res. I hated getting pics of the milestones and coming home for the holiday breaks to a child that didn’t recognize me. I didn’t even have room to express that because I must be grateful that they were helping me out of the mess I created. I never finished that degree. My boy is 14 now and we are flourishing but it took me years of inner work. Anyway, love your work ❤
This conversation touched me..on how partners helping their wife all out.Being helpful not becoz it's one partner job..but together as one....I wish other partners can see that
loved this conversation so much(as usual).Given is such a great partner, lol I'm definitely adding some of his character traits to my partner "list"; keep it up abuti. I've been in a foreign country for almost a year and the need for a community has me on my knees daily and now the discussion at 33;40 added to my anxiety.
Finding a community after moving countries, or even cities can be such an overwhelming process. But it can also be an exciting challenge! We wish you all the best, keep us posted ♥️
This is such a beautiful conversation. Rea leboha hleng, so inspiring ❤. And oh Given, Morena amo boloke❤ I hope you remember the podcast you listened to about longevity of life, that's so powerful
18:22 My partner is as Given with our kids, very hands on and all and could do more if he could but unfortunately there are things that come with nature in our roles as man and woman when it comes to parenting that you have to journey alone as a mother such as breastfeeding 🤱 and a child wanting/needing the mother more than the dad. Those cause a lot of mental and emotional battles where logic understands but the heart doesn't comprehend and just like Given says, you as a mother still feel like your partner is not doing enough.
Currently pregnant and absolutely enjoyed this.. I’m 30 living at home and the advises I’m getting everyday are too much. From being forced to eat a full plate of food to “dnt wear clothes that show/ dnt post about your pregnancy” plus dealing with a partner who isn’t ready for baby when I am so I’m understanding of him and his choice but people around me aren’t having it (forcing me to take him to court etc) guys kuningi!!
truth is its rare to find a man being hands on ,i tried living with a man and it felt like he was my child and that's how you know We will not be having kids.
Given is dropping GEMS.

I'm sorry sis. Please, don't listen to the naysers. But rather focus on what the Doctors say. This journey is about you
That must be so overwhelming, but it works out in the end. Wishing you a healthy delivery and blessings on blessings.
Bonga: And another thing ☝😆 she had a lot to get off her chest. Another conversation I've enjoyed💕
