Beautiful colour, love it x
Thanks so much 😊
Like the ideas about pink jacket remake! You are so smart❤
Thank you! 😊
Absolutely love that skirt Alison!!! Also love how you rescue your makes. Very inspiring 🥰
Thanks Ruan - I like the challenge
Love the skirt Alison and i think the topstitching really makes it special 😍
Thank you 😊
Great video Alison - I love your honesty and I really wish I had your Sewing Power - your makes are always so great the Skirt is lovely and a beautiful color. I want a cover stitch but I need to get better with my sewing first x
I’ve you decide to go for one have a play in a shop the brother I got first was awful
It looks very professional. Like a shop bought one. In fact perfect
Thank you very much 😊
Fantastic skirt ❤
Thank you! 😊
Wow! Complicated, well done though ❤
Love your skirt and the topstitching is 😍😍😍. Makes me want a cover stitch machine now!! ( not going to happen). Would putting a couple of small darts in the back of the skirt solve the problem? Not that it matters - I think you have the perfect attitude towards it!! I have completed my Merchant and Mills Whittaker which I thought had a LOT of topstitching until I started my Fibre Mood Drea trench coat. Miles and miles of it. Definitely a slow sew, improving my techniques make and yes seam ripper has been very busy indeed 🙈. Like Ruan, I am inspired by your determination to alter garments you already have that you are not reaching for. Have a good week 😊. Lynne
Good luck with all the top stitching - it takes ages but it’s so worth it
Love ur garment and the color is great!..
Thank you so much!
Would be pretty in spring with one of your print blouses❤
Totally
Your skirt is lovely. Kudos on making alterations so you reach for your clothes. Once I've made something, I am hopeless at making changes if I'm not happy with it, I'd rather make another and make the changes to that. It's something I need to work on. I have just finished a Coda Jacket (Love Notions) and have cut out a Frida Blouse (Atelier Jupe), but not started sewing it up yet; today with any luck :-)
I think I like the challenge
Great vlog Alison I was not quite happy with my yoke either and think I stretched it I was so frustrated with myself🤣 you have inspired me to have a go at the top stitching I really liked the look it gave to your pockets 😍 Always good to learn something new thank you for sharing.
I think a few of us had a yoke issue
Love your skirt! That 3 needle top stitching is terrific ❤! The purple color is spectacular. I’m on a weight loss journey as well, I have quite a bit more to lose and I’m hesitant to purchase this pattern. Hopefully by the fall, I’ll be closer to my goal and more comfortable sewing closer fitting clothes. Take care!
Good luck with it x
Alison, your SOI skirt looks fabulous! My sewing machine only works with Gutermann thread. It’s very finicky!
So awkward aren’t they 😂
Love the skirt Alison , you nailed the top stitching !!. I’ve tried a lot of over locker threads and Empress Mills have come out the best for the loopers then I use regular thread in the needles when I need to do topstitching , the looper thread is to fluffy to go in needles sadly . Good job glad to see you are in the pocket band waggon 😊
Thanks for the tip Victoria
What about a deep ruffle on the sage brush sleeve ? Love your skirt the triple stitching is amazing. 🙏❤️💙💜
Great idea!!
Love your thoughts on the jacket. I often have issues with the arms and sleeves. I like your thinking
Thank you have to juggle a bit to make things work sometimes x
Love the colour of your skirt and the topstitching and pocket details look fab. I am thinking of getting a coverstitch machine and would love to see a review video when you've had time to get to know yours.
Rather than recutting the sleeves on Sagebrush, have a look at the Cielo Top, which has a two part wider sleeve that might look nice with that dress, and quite close to your inspiration sleeves.
Thanks Eileen - will do some reviewing when I have had a bit more time to play
❤hi it’s me that was debating the machines. I’m going to try them out and buy in three weeks can’t wait! 🎉 I was so impressed with that topstitching especially on the bulky part of the yoke 😊no change in stitch length as you sometimes get and the curves looked spot on to me. Was I the only one who zoomed in at those points😂? Lovely makes this week Alison,😅 I especially like how you go back in and change under worn garments. I’m currently finishing the Chloe cowl neck top from Sinclair patterns it looks surprisingly nice on.
Oooo I’m excited for you
For coverstitch tips, check out Johanna Lundström’s book ‘Master the coverstitch machine’ book. It’s a bible for this machine 😊
Thanks for the tip!
Alison just run a running stitch along the top of the yoke. Then ease it into the band. That’s what I have done and it works.
Thanks for the tip
I didnt opt to do this months pattern but got fomo seeing everyones makes on fb. Ive just printed it out and going to make next week, thanks for the tips. Getting ready for the nec today 😊
Hope you like it x
Love the fabric and can’t see the colour differences and it looks great on you ❤
Just wondering if you or anyone reading has made the TATB Nessa and how you’d compare it to the SOI Xanthe?
I wouldn’t have noticed the yoke! I like the back split.
Great job 👏🏻
Ooo not seen that one
Gosh really? I did a tiny bit of research @@SewLikeDotty and I think the pockets are the main difference... I wonder if @sewoverit will just release the pocket pattern 😃
The pockets are easy to adapt into other things 😍
