You might be seeing a lot of mulch because you are taking off too much at a time. Where I live we don’t bag anymore, we always mulch and usually don’t take off more than 2”. Gas engines are great and I recommend using a synthetic oil and ethanol free gas
I just bought one of the new HRN's they are selling at Home Depot. All of the boxes have been opened and resealed as they were recalled and had the cams replaced. They have new serial numbers and are defect free. My 2006 Toro is on its last legs and battery mowers are inferior and WAY overpriced, so I went with a Honda. Hopefully they change their minds and continue to make these mowers. Better late than never!

I have this bad boy and I love it. It's so easy to use my wife mowed the front yard and enjoyed it. Honda is the GOAT in lawn mowers. I was using my neighbors Toro 140cc 1self propelled recycler and I noticed it feel underpowered and grass keeps escaping elsewhere rather than going straight into the bag. With my Honda mower, all the grass goes into the bag. My only gripe is the bag is small so it fills up faster. Could be that is actually throws all the grass in the bag. LOL

It’s a great mower, I really like mine. I have owned several Honda’s and this ones my favorite, even over the HRX217..it’s more nimble to manage, wheels don’t lock up when pulling it backwards with the new gear drive system.
How long have you had it? I was interested in this model but heard bad things about the height selector wearing out and surging engine. Maybe it’s user error with some of the complaints
@@Johnny-dw6un 2nd season with mine. The height adjustment works great for me, especially since I am constantly adjusting it mowing at 3.5 in front and 1.5 in backyard. On occasion I’ve noticed rpm shift or surge before fully warmed up and I dig right into taller grass or a slope. I use fresh 93 and stabil too, followed guidelines and oil change after first month and yearly. I will say I bought the VYA with blade break and the engine had something internally loose and made a knocking sound right out of the box that never went away
My Honda lawnmower compliments my Ek hatch and my sisters s2000 (my sister keeps the car in my house) in the garage. You can never go wrong with a Honda lawnmower.

Is the front of that mower attached to the deck or is it one mould? Some of these mowers that have a front tacked onto the deck end up with the front dropping of especially if the damp sits in behind the plastic. Also I recommend if your going to mulch, cut the lawn as normal then go 90° to your cut pattern either at the same height or 1 setting lower makes a good job of it.
Looking good. Love the Honda riders back in the day. Had a Honda 4518 that had a liquid cooled 2 cylinder engine. Sounded so good. That baby will mulch nice but grass is too long right now. When mulching you need to cut alot less off and go slower. Sometimes you have to go over it twice.
@hoebeke4205 the deck will last a lifetime if you take care of it. Before storing for the winter, give the bottom of the deck a good cleaning and coat it with a rust inhibitor(like fluid film or rust check).
I wish Honda made one that’s not self propelled. It makes them prohibitively expensive. I bough a push mower Troy built with Honda engine. It’s worked perfect for 11 years.
They have mowers that are not self-propelled! The thing is that it’s only on their side discharge and commercial grade models only. EDIT: nevermind I looked again and they do have the mulching mower without self propelled
I switched to a battery operated lawnmower, I can’t ever go back to a gas lawnmower. If Honda were to make a battery operated lawnmower, I’d consider buying it.
I think you’ll find that your wrong, mine is the best mulcher I’ve ever had. People ask me what my secret is to having the best lot on my street and I have a corner lot

I have the Honda HRN 216 lawn mower and is super cool to use. It has the new Honda motor model. Makes the job done very fast. I love it.

You need to follow the 1/3 rule. Never take more than 1/3 of the grass blade off. You lawn will be much healthier and greener. Need to mow more often

The Honda single stage snow blowers haven't been updated in many years. Honda doesn't update snow blowers as often as mowers.

I got the same mower but even on longer grass in mulch mode I don't see any grass clippings at all.
It is because he is mulching wet grass. I think he said something about it rained a couple days before the unboxing.
