Another great transformation to the mini. Yes I could see a big difference with the welder fixed, it both looked and sounded better with the timer repaired. Great work guys.
Thanks Danny, we've also learned that thd spot welder doesn't like weld thru primer on thr outer flanges so will just keep it to the inner flanges and see how we get on with that
Fantastic to hear that Ravi. It's all too easy to loose interest in your project, I've been there a few times with this build. Rediscovering your mojo always gives you a good boost!
Cheers Randy. Yeah I'm not that keen on the stuff either. You have to remember that once restored these cars will never see the same punishment they seen first time round!
thanks i have a new front to fit.. but we dont have a spot welder.. so my plan is to drill holes and plug weld.[just spent dosh on a 1/2 decent mig welder] . i cant justify buying a spot welder just for the one job..regards john
Cheets John, plug welding is absolutely fine however spot welding is neater with less to linish back and it looks more oem. For a starter welder I'd recommend the Clarke 135TE, that's a fantastic machine to use. I loved my one when I had it and it's perfect for the mini
14:53 forget weld on primer, lead load them. I will be lead loading the join under the headlamp/front panel and the join between the wing/scuttle, keeps the rot out.
Hi Sean & Kev, another great video. Love the banter. It must be a good few years since you bought that crimper, i had a look at them recently and they are about £120. I need to fold the wings on my car, same as your “A” panels but i will need to find an alternative way to do it. I also looked at spot welders, they are out of my price range. Anyhow keep up the good work, it’s coming together now, Norman
Cheers Norman, wow £120 for the crimper! It just shows you how things rocket in price over time. You could try and use a bit of copper pipe bent over and flattened and a pair of vice grips and that should do thd job just as well. I used the copper pipe method fir thd top of the a panels. The spot welders are ridiculous prices, Kev managed to get this one second hand from ebay for a decent price. Halfway through this video I thought that I might have needed to buy another one as it stopped working but fortunately we managed to fix it.
Nice job you two, you cannot beat getting the face back on a mini. What weld through primer did you use. I found the upol the best, some others were really poor with the spot welder and even the upol causes the welder to spark at times
Cheers DB, I was using upol but have abandoned using weldthru primer on panels I'm spot welding now as the welder didn't like it plus these cars will never see the same punishment this time around so I don't really see thr point in using it now. Paints are also far better these days plus the car will be painted inside and out unlike when BL only painted the areas you seen!
@kev the rev cheers, you were right in the video, the spot welder is so heavy, I'm knackered after using it. I bought the extentions for the spot welder, saved me a lot of time so far
Did you order those Magnum wings from M-Machine? The reason i ask is i ordered a pair of wings from them and they came the other day but the label said Rhibo. Similar style part number to Magnum though.
Always a pleasure to watch
Thank you Dean, very much appreciated
It is great to see the progress on Angus.
Thanks buddy its good to be working on him again 👍

Love the comment you made @ 15:10 “got to remember guys these cars are don’t going to see the same life second time round”
Thanks Ravi, these cars were just normal everyday cars back in the day and took some punishment
@@BMCWorkshop was loosing faith and interest in my build before watching this. Feeling re-energised. Keep up the vids
Fantastic to hear that Ravi. It's all too easy to loose interest in your project, I've been there a few times with this build. Rediscovering your mojo always gives you a good boost!
Yep.. I too have learned that lesson first hand.. my spot welder does not like weld through primer.. no more for me. Angus is looking great now!!
Cheers Randy. Yeah I'm not that keen on the stuff either. You have to remember that once restored these cars will never see the same punishment they seen first time round!
Top job 👏
Thanks buddy
Really good 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Chris
Sean, Kevin, Cracking job lads it‘s fair coming on, This a turning point to any major restoration when it starts to look like a car again. Cheers Dave

Thanks buddy
Its coming together now Sean, looking good
Cheers buddy, it's starting to look like a car again
Looking great Sean, yeah I tried mine with weld through primer and no use, great video 👍
Cheers Tony, it's pish mate and I've tried a few brands. Fek the weldthru from now on lol
Good work Sean, You and big Kev make a great team. Love hearing the banter and words I haven't heard for a long time.
Cheers buddy. Weird and wonderful words is something we're certainly not short of. No doubt as thd series gets on you'll hear some other old words lol
@@BMCWorkshop Looking forward to it Cheers

Thats a skill I really need to learn

Frost do a pretty good crimping tool for £50, I re skinned my MK1 doors with one last year
Cheers Steve, it's the frost tool I've got 👍
Cheers guys, i will check Frost out.
Frost are good Norman and they sell quality products with fast delivery too
12:20 My spot welder looks very very similar to yours, and yes, they weigh a ton, your arms know when you've been using one.
You certainly do Paul!
Great vid guys! Can I ask what wattage rating is the spot welder you used? Thanks 👍🏻😊
Nice job you two, you cannot beat getting the face back on a mini.

I was knackered watching kev getting knackered lol
Indeed it will Kev!
@@BMCWorkshop lol, its even heavier and more awkward with the long arms on. You need to have a go, its very therapeutic.
So the spot welder is 16 amp do you just have a conversation cable to 13 amp domestic plug or do you have a 16 amp outlet?
I have a 32 amp outlet Philip. None of my welders run off a 13amp plug
what is the brand on the spot welder ?
It's s Clarke spot welder
Did you order those Magnum wings from M-Machine? The reason i ask is i ordered a pair of wings from them and they came the other day but the label said Rhibo. Similar style part number to Magnum though.
No Paul I got them from minispares
@@BMCWorkshopOh right. Did those wings have Rhibo and maxi line on the label?
No bud minispares would have probably taken the labels off and branded them as their own
@@BMCWorkshop Your joking? whats the point if the either come from Heritage or from Magnum, pointless exercise by them!!
Lots of firms rebrand items
Kev should be used to heavy things carrying his wallet about ,top job lads keep it up , coming together really nice
Cheers Peter, Kev has a padlock on his wallet lol
You have been camping for at least 3 days now lol....................Déjà vu
Yes Paul, Kev has a tent up in the garden. Lights out at 10, he has no choice as I cut the power off lol
14:22 Can't beat a cup of WD40 to lube your tonsils lol
Lol
1st, even beat Kev lol
Lol Paul you do have an advantage here 🤣
16:54 i made it to 16.50 and could not watch any more ha ha
Lol you would have missed your name in the credits Paul 🤣
@@BMCWorkshop lol, no i saw it, thank you.
