The Predator known as Wolf is a reference to Winston Wolf, the "cleaner" from Pulp Fiction, more specifically the part of the film that's subtitled "The Bonnie Situation"
That movie rules. The darkness in that film doesn't bug me as much as it does in this one because it fits in some ways, especially the whole cave sequence.
In the books an alien drone can morph into a queen given enough TIME. Thats what makes the Xenomorph so deadly, they are incredibly adaptable. All you need is a single egg to survive and in a matter of weeks or a month you can end up with an entire hive.
One thing that I think lacked in AVPR is the characters. Alien and Predator franchise both had characters that people knew and liked. We kinda get that in AVP which is partly why its a better film. Civilians are okay to show, like they did in the 1st Alien movie but we already had civilians in the 1st AVP film so I felt like what this film needed was to do something else. What made Aliens such a badass sequel is that we had Trained Colonial Marines which is what the AVP franchise is well known for. In all the games you have the opportunity to play as 3 factions, either the Yautja (Predators), the Xenomorph Aliens or Humans as Space Marines. As such I felt like this wouldve been an EXCELLENT chance for them to go back to routes and focussed more on Military like they did in Aliens and the original Predator movie. I know they DID partially at 15:47 but they were killed off so fast and we didnt get to know any of the characters so it was almost pointless other than showing how unprepared and how far out their league they are. Aliens did the same but in a better way. I feel like if they focussed less on the survivors and more on the Military and make the Army mum the main focuss as a kind of badass Ripley and Newt type. Other than that all that was missing was better lighting. 26:28 Im not sure which cut you watched, or if you just missed it, but in the Unrated Uncut Edition theres one scene, which mightve originally been cut, where the ship from AVP gets as far as Jupiter and then a smaller shuttle breaks off and flies back to Earth with a smaller crew and a bunch of Facehuggers (Presumably to setup another Hidden Pyramid for the next Unblooded Xenomorph Hunt due in the next Century) which is why there were far fewer Predators on board during the PredAlien attack.
Requiem is typically something done in remembrance of the dead. Like the phrase “one for me and one for the homies” would be a requiem for the dead friend when you pour some out for them 😂
This movie gives me chills constantly. There have got to be 50 references to other movies in the franchises between sound bytes they take, character references, tag lines, even Ripley's robe from Aliens gets a cameo. Purely a fanfare movie but I soak it all in. Hearing Hicks' voice on the radio is such a nerdgasm.
Howdy! Looking forward to this. Saw it once when it first released and liked it. Just wish it wasn't so dark and that we could see the pred alien clearer, especially during the last fight on the hospital roof. Blessings to you both and the family. 🙏🏻👊

Funny thing about this movie: it's like somebody took all the complaints about the first AvP and made the sequel only addressing those complaints while leaving out all the good from the first one. You probably wouldn't be surprised to find out this was the first time this pair had actually directed a movie, the commentary track is illuminating on a lot of the decisions that were made. Apparently they found the child murdering to be really funny. The darkness of the film actually isn't entirely their fault, their lighting budget was next to nothing and they were just as upset about the darkness as we were. There's two reasons why only one predator was sent in to deal with this 1) the distress signal sent no details so they didn't know how bad the situation was and 2) the predator didn't seem to realize the predalien was reproducing so he didn't realize the situation was as out of control as it was. He still might have been able to handle things on his own, some Preds are pretty much unstoppable. Personally I thought it was a bad move storywise as it meant the aliens had to lose every single fight until the very end, which makes them look weaker than they should be.
Wolf is the strongest Predator we've ever seen. This is a blow it up from orbit type crisis. Wolf went there to kill that abomination, and he won. They stole his win with that nuke.
@@JustSomeGuywithEpicGrasses He was mortally wounded at the end. If they hadn't blown up the area the other Aliens would have overrun the place unchecked.
I was looking forward to this so much when it came to cinema and there were a great fight scene between predator and alien, but I thought the film was way too dark to enjoy fully.
Requiem is like a funeral dirge. Elton John has a couple like Funeral for a Friend and the rewrite of Candle in the Wind (is a requiem to Princess Diana).
Requiem (from the Latin) in general is something done in memory of a dead person. Most commonly is the music played in a funeral representing the rest of the soul of the dead person, in the catholic church.
wolf is an elite Yautja. the Yautja on that spaceship sent a distress signal for help because of the prealien. and Wolf caught the signal. and the smaller ship stayed behind and the big ship with the clan leader took off
No idea what the hell was going on most of the time due to it being so dark and hard to make out the detail. No wonder the Mrs did a lot of face and eye pulling. The first predator is probably my favourite.
This film is not a particularly popular one but thanks for keeping a completionist approach and actually cover it. Not sure if we'll get another Alien vs Predator reboot or what have you but we'll have to wait and see.
I know I'm late but at 11:20, when you were talking about how the Xenomorphs were able to reproduce without a queen I wanted to mention that all of them are female (I remember hearing this somewhere but forgot where) and any of them can become a queen, which is what the predalien was becoming and how they planted the eggs in the pregnant women of the movie. If you two play video games I suggest the AVP game from 2010, it allows you to play as a marine, Xenomorph, and Predator. At the end of the Xenomorph campaign, you turn into a queen alien despite being a simple drone.
While he was cleaning up the scene, he was also planting a trophy to throw any investigation towards it. "Man found skinned in the woods" would trump "Weird puddles of goo found in woods, hunting party still missing". At that point the Wolf Predator still doesn't know how bad the situation has gotten. Gotta give the favorite to Predator 2 Predator, as he got creative with his kills.
Fun fact: the predators were not doing research in face huggers they were containing it cause they can reproduce a xenomorph. If i got the name wrong correct me
It was a shout out to the first movie in the extended edition the smaller ship breaks off and separates from the mother ship and is making an orbital pass around the earth. While the large mother ship heads to their home system the smaller one was either possibly heading to another hunting ground or going to a planet, they use to bury their dead maybe even both. It does down back to earth after its Nav system goes offline and Earth's gravity pulls it down.
Jeez it took me THIS LONG to figure out what the sound is in the beginning of your videos.. It's popcorn in the microwave.. I originally thought it was the flappy sound that film makes when it runs off the spool...
i think the best way to describe the horror of a face hugger to someone that has never seen one is "a flesh spider looking thing with two large nuts and a tail that is dead set on struggle snuggling your face and throat" . If that dont give them nightmares i dont know what will. Also this raises some questions about predator reproduction as this is the only xeno to be able to do not only a litter of live young but bypass the normal hive formation pattern aka get one or two drones to adapt to local bioforms then setup a nest and build up more numbers from there. the predalien just goes on a stroll/recruitment drive lol
You'd think the cleanup Predator would do a better job at cleaning up. For that matter, whole ship full of Predator was sent for three young ones and a ship goes down and they only send in single cleanup crew.
I could be wrong but I think I remember reading that the 3 Predators in AvP were like “young” Predators that were undergoing an initiation. The pyramid itself was built for young Predators to undergo a rite of passage, that’s why they go in with limited weapons and have to obtain the weapons that are placed in the pyramid. The solo Predator here is an elite hunter. Those guys don’t get backup.
So to answer the question about the Pred-Alien being a Queen, to my knowledge the xenomorph/Alien has traits somewhat like that of a frog or clown fish for one instance in particular if there is no female or for the xenomorphs no Queen, then one of the lesser xenomorphs would evol in to a Queen which would have been the case for this Pred-Alien one would think but I'm not sure if that is what the writer's or director had in mind with this movie.
If you watch the commentary for this film there's alot that the Director's had to cut do to Budget issues. Originally for both AvP 1 and 2 were supposed too take place in space but the person in charge of Fox at the time made them put it on Earth. The cut scene shows the smaller ship leaving the Mothership.
The TV series will be cool, there were some alien day short films released a couple of years ago you guys should look up! I also wonder if Neil Blomkamp will get to do his Alien 5. Personally I hope Ridley Scott sees out his Prometheus trilogy. I want some juicy lore and a closer return to Prometheus feel without the bad characters and plot holes.
You nailed the big problems people had with this film. Most of the action was too dark to see, and it treated the human slaughter with sadistic glee. A personal fail was they tried to tie in _all the things_ from both franchises in this movie. The final guy who survived? His name was Dallas. Sound familiar? The last line of the movie mentions Ms. Yutani, which happens to be half of Weyland-Yutani, otherwise known as The Company. The final surviving lady and her daughter? Blatant expys of Ripley and Newt. The predator had some pretty cool weapons, though. My favorite was the laser things he threw at the walls of the sewers, which when activated, would slice and dice anything moving past them. Perfect way to cover your back as you penetrate a dungeon filled with unknown enemies.
I NEED TO ADD... I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS MOVIE... SO... IT WAS MY 20 MINUTES TRAILER WITH REACTION... JAJAJA I WILL DEFINITELY SEE IT AFTER I WATCH YOUR REACTION TO "PREDATORS 2010" WHICH I ALSO HAVEN'T SEEN...
Not sure about the best predator, but can tell you the worst predator. The predator in predator 2. The first predator slaughtered a whole team of jacked Soldiers armed to the..... And just barely lost a fight to Arnold, who dropped a tree on him. To losing a one on one knife fight to Danny Glover. The guy who's to old for this shot. What a drop off from predator 1. Anyone else notice this? Also loved the predator series. Good times
Favorite predator? Honestly, while the first has the most iconic look, and 2 has the most melee, Swiss army knife badassery, I think my favorite look is the falconer super predator from Predators, but my favorite overall is Wolf Predator from AVPR. Yes the hero predator from AVP1 is cool, and is more heroic... cool classic jungle-hunter look too, and that giant shuriken is awesome, but if it wasn't for that one befriending the heroine I wouldn't like it as much.
First movie is the best in the Predator franchise. My favorite Predator is a tough one. I really enjoyed the Weapons and look of the City hunter in P2 and I really like WOLF too. But I have to be traditional and say the original. The suit was just so believable and he took on Arnold and his team and only lost to bad luck.
The 60s band The Association wrote/sung a song called "Requiem for the Masses". The song wasn't bad and did well on the charts. Although I thought the singing quality was mediocre, the lyrics were superb.
Nerd Fact: The writing on the "Lone Wolf's" mask reads "Not for glory. Not for honour. Not for the hunt. But to clean up the mess." In real world terms "Wolf" the predator in this film is a sweeper team. No evidence, no witnesses. He's exempt from the rules of the hunt. Meaning he can be seen, and can kill the unarmed, children, and pregnant women. The skinned bodies are actually a warning. Always have been. "Fuck off or be ready for a fight." And aside form the Catholic meaning, in literature a "Requiem" is a sad story. Also I saw this in theaters on my Birthday!
The Wolf Predator is a Veteran hunter, an elite. When things are going wrong, his kind are the ones the others contact to clean up the mess.
Other predators probably get real quiet and avoid eye contact when he walks into a room.

The Predator known as Wolf is a reference to Winston Wolf, the "cleaner" from Pulp Fiction, more specifically the part of the film that's subtitled "The Bonnie Situation"
It's another darkly lit movie that is hard to tell what's going on, but The 13th Warrior is my favorite Antonio Banderas film.
so underrated, one of the best fort building scenes ever!
To me, that is his best film
That movie rules. The darkness in that film doesn't bug me as much as it does in this one because it fits in some ways, especially the whole cave sequence.
In the books an alien drone can morph into a queen given enough TIME. Thats what makes the Xenomorph so deadly, they are incredibly adaptable.
All you need is a single egg to survive and in a matter of weeks or a month you can end up with an entire hive.
Award for the darkest movie ever. Would have been awesome if I could see what was going on 😂
One thing that I think lacked in AVPR is the characters.
I love watching movies with you guys
Yeap...another wonderful delivery from you guys! Awesome reaction hahahaha.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wolf's helmet:
"Not for glory, not for honour, not for the hunt. But to clean up the mess."
If you get the extended version it was remastered to be a bit brighter so you can see more of the action
@@jaysmartass4862 nice one. Thanks for that, I'll check it out. 👍
@@jaysmartass4862 Slightly
@@alproductions3763 Barely. Still had to crank up the brightness on my monitor to see anything in most shots.
26:40 it seems to me they took the body to their science ship cause remember they studied the face huggers there to so hes body was there for the study
hey im from mississippi but i went to college in gunnison, colorado at western state college of colorado i was in rocky mountain search and rescue for awhile and crestte butte is a mountain i went up it fishing in summer , i dont ski. but in 1995 gunnison was very small only 5 thousand people , i always wanted to go back to colorado one more time to the mountains.
18:22 I remember seeing this scene as a kid
I remember that when her belly exploded the baby was with the chestbursters which is strange
Fun fact: there was supposed to be a scene that showed the crashed ship Wolf entered, having the dead predators skinned by the Predalien
That would’ve made the film better.
Minus the Horrible and Unnecessary delivery room scenes, its an underrated movie.
wolf is an elite Yautja. the Yautja on that spaceship sent a distress signal for help because of the prealien. and Wolf caught the signal. and the smaller ship stayed behind and the big ship with the clan leader took off
I love these reactions! They're so genuine. I especially love "Great" as an extremely accurate response.
Glad you like them!
They're awesome, keep it up. The Dexter series may be my fav
No idea what the hell was going on most of the time due to it being so dark and hard to make out the detail. No wonder the Mrs did a lot of face and eye pulling. The first predator is probably my favourite.
fun fact: moray eels have a second set of jaws too.
“She hates when things happen to kids”
Oh the Doctor Sleep reaction is gonna be gold.
I've seen this movie thrice and I still can't remember what happens in it.
Never understood it.
He’s trying to clean up the scene yet leaves a guy he killed skinned out in the open ?
I believe this was the first movie for a new production company their second was THE NATIVITY, talk about a change in direction
I remember watching the movies Alien and Predator when i was a kid with my mom
I haven't watched in a very long time
Fun fact: the predators were not doing research in face huggers they were containing it cause they can reproduce a xenomorph.
Y'all are adorable - such good wholesome vibes on these vids
lol when she said "aw you're funny tonight". sweet couple
Because I lived in Gunnison as a kid it makes me laugh so much when it gets nuked.
Jeez it took me THIS LONG to figure out what the sound is in the beginning of your videos.. It's popcorn in the microwave.. I originally thought it was the flappy sound that film makes when it runs off the spool...
AvP Requiem is like, I can't see anything! what's going on?
i think the best way to describe the horror of a face hugger to someone that has never seen one is "a flesh spider looking thing with two large nuts and a tail that is dead set on struggle snuggling your face and throat" .
I always refer to the Predator in this movie as The Cleaner. His job is to clean up messes and make sure it’s known they’ve never been there.
What's even more crazy is that, in the event of a nest being destroyed and no queens being around, regular aliens can evolve into a queen.
This movie should have been called Silhouettes vs Shadows. Because of the movie being so dark
18:34 You can tell she really wants a facehugger pillow for Christmas! 😸
Hmmm...
There are alien facehugger masks out there and really cool cosplay ones too.
You'd think the cleanup Predator would do a better job at cleaning up. For that matter, whole ship full of Predator was sent for three young ones and a ship goes down and they only send in single cleanup crew.
What you said made no logical sense at any point broski….
a mass for the dead :solemn chant (such as a dirge) for the repose of the dead. something that resembles such a solemn chant.
It goes from good to great in the brightened version....just watched it on HBO MAX.....how can you beat the maternity scene?
and this nonsense film was the final stone on the grave of two of the greatest and best characters in horror fiction...
If there is no Queen present one of the Xenomorphs can change into one.
You might like to try Cloverfield, and Slither
Favorite Predator movie is the first, but my favorite Predator is the "City Hunter" from Predator 2. Such a cool and terrifying costume design.
Requim means an act or token of remembrance or also known as Mass for the dead
It's funny that the Queen Alien is a Disney villain, on the same level of the other Disney villainesses like Snow White's Evil Queen.
10:06 definitely one of the most sickest shots of the Predator in cinema history
Don’t worry it will be retcon and reboot
The TV series will be cool, there were some alien day short films released a couple of years ago you guys should look up!
I also wonder if Neil Blomkamp will get to do his Alien 5.
Personally I hope Ridley Scott sees out his Prometheus trilogy. I want some juicy lore and a closer return to Prometheus feel without the bad characters and plot holes.
19:33 that holds the record of stupidest line ever
Why? It was a commentary.
@@kuhpunkt in the movie. Shoulda been clearer
@@PowerCookie1 YES IN THE MOVIE! HOW IS IT STUPID? It's supposed to poke fun.
Requiem is remembrance, I believe
The Aliens kicked butt in all the movies! The only way you can beat an alien is if you nuke’em!
My favorite Predator is the City Hunter from 2.
sensacional pelicula saludos desde colombia y un fuerte abraso son los mejores
It so shows alien predator hybrid doesn’t give a shit on who you are just use you for what it wants
But to clean up the mess."
In real world terms "Wolf" the predator in this film is a sweeper team. No evidence, no witnesses. He's exempt from the rules of the hunt. Meaning he can be seen, and can kill the unarmed, children, and pregnant women.
The skinned bodies are actually a warning. Always have been. "Fuck off or be ready for a fight."
And aside form the Catholic meaning, in literature a "Requiem" is a sad story.
Also I saw this in theaters on my Birthday!
