Back in the age of vinyl, we didn't have this kind of opportunity to preview bands & records before we bought them. It was by word-of-mouth, gigs, & hearing friends' albums. I bought a lot of early black metal records just because they had a cool name, album art, & song titles. I discovered Bathory's first album this way in 1984. Times have sure changed.
Its understadable i just can imagine old people buying metal albums back in the 80's and 90's and being able to tell that they did a great purchase because there is not so much shitty metal from those times, but after the 2000's holy crap... Metal started to become generic slowly and im pretty sure not so many people dared to buy albums blindly just to get angry at their waste... And now in this times that for real there is a shit ton of boring or generic metal, no one wants to buy an album blindly anymore..
I can't stop listening to this album. Torture is still my favorite but this is my second favorite. I am so glad they brought back Erik Rutan. The last album, A Skeletal Domain, was just ok. But I thought it missed that brutal in your face type of death metal without Erik. Now that he is back, this album is better than ever.

He has produced Kill, Evisceration Plague, Torture, Red Before Black (this album), and Violence Unimagined (most recent album). A Skeletal Domain (album between Torture and Red Before Black) was not produced by Rutan, so he came back to produce this one. That’s what he’s referring to.
Same here. This album, the sound, the vibe, the production reminds me a lot of Bloodthirst, the first album by CC that I listened to, and that to this day remains my favourite.

I'd say the best Corpsegrinder album since Vile. The rest of the albums just go so similar and repetitive. There is something so refreshingly "old" about this album. Sometimes simpler is better. I fucking love this.
Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm an oldish fart that somehow was lucky enough to be introduced to death metal at the very beginning back in the late 80's The first four Cannibal albums were so diverse and different, yet all brutal at the time they were released. Vile, I feel, was a great "into" album for Corpsegrinder as a singer. It had a ton of diversity, yet managed to keep that old school feel even as they progressed. The albums since have been unquestionably brutal, but, in my opinion, almost to a fault. It gets hard to distinguish one album from the next, and since everything is so brutal it can sometimes almost sound flat. There are less changes and breakdowns, but as I said this album, in my opinion, is a refreshing throwback to more a Vile sound, and the production is rawer as well. So, I'm certainly not going to argue with you if you feel Bloodthirst is their best album. But for my old fart preferences, I'm definitely stoked on this one.
I cannot describe how good this album is. I am just sitting here completely stunned. This is a masterpiece from start to finish. Whoever produced this album make sure you do the next one. This album has made me a serious Corpse fan. Can't wait to see them next time they come to Canada.
Amazing album! the best I've heard from CC in a while, and that's saying something since I like KILL and Torture so much. Will see the mighty Corpse in October along with Napalm Death, that show will be a killer! (no pun intended)

I just went out and bought this CD yesterday. What a killer album through and through! Great job CC! EDIT: Started listening to the whole discography in order, a CD or 2 per day if i had time (including the boxset 15 Year Killing Spree) and damn this album just tops it off and also reminds me of how awesome the older stuff is as well! I hope i get to see them live sometime. I missed them when they came somewhat close just recently.

This album is everything I expect of a Cannibal Corpse album. In a sense, it’s nothing new (aside from Alex’s bass being a bit more audible than on previous works), But oddly, I’m not sick of it. I never really do get sick of Cannibal Corpse, despite some perceived stagnation.

Cover dude reminds me of Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker. Corpse Grinders vocals are adequate and the music is tight as always. It's Cannibal Corpse. They don't deviate, you know what to expect but some of these riffs are pretty catchy. 7/10.
2017 has been such a great year for music. Rancid released Troublemaker, Flogging Molly released Life Is Good, Anti Flag released American Fall, and of course, CANNIBAL CORPSE!!!
Cannibal Corpse is in my personal all-time top-3 when it comes to death metal. They've always been consistent for 30 years. There's not a bad record in their catalogue. This one's no exception. Have they done better in recent years? Sure. But I'm still satisfied, and I enjoyed it blasting it after a long time :)

I'd say the best Corpsegrinder album since Vile. The rest of the albums just go so similar and repetitive. There is something so refreshingly "old" about this album. Sometimes simpler is better. I fucking love this.

Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm an oldish fart that somehow was lucky enough to be introduced to death metal at the very beginning back in the late 80's The first four Cannibal albums were so diverse and different, yet all brutal at the time they were released. Vile, I feel, was a great "into" album for Corpsegrinder as a singer. It had a ton of diversity, yet managed to keep that old school feel even as they progressed. The albums since have been unquestionably brutal, but, in my opinion, almost to a fault. It gets hard to distinguish one album from the next, and since everything is so brutal it can sometimes almost sound flat. There are less changes and breakdowns, but as I said this album, in my opinion, is a refreshing throwback to more a Vile sound, and the production is rawer as well. So, I'm certainly not going to argue with you if you feel Bloodthirst is their best album. But for my old fart preferences, I'm definitely stoked on this one.

I just went out and bought this CD yesterday. What a killer album through and through! Great job CC! EDIT: Started listening to the whole discography in order, a CD or 2 per day if i had time (including the boxset 15 Year Killing Spree) and damn this album just tops it off and also reminds me of how awesome the older stuff is as well! I hope i get to see them live sometime. I missed them when they came somewhat close just recently.

This album is everything I expect of a Cannibal Corpse album. In a sense, it’s nothing new (aside from Alex’s bass being a bit more audible than on previous works), But oddly, I’m not sick of it. I never really do get sick of Cannibal Corpse, despite some perceived stagnation.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Lots of bands devolve over time. Cannibal Corpse is not one of them.

Cover dude reminds me of Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker. Corpse Grinders vocals are adequate and the music is tight as always. It's Cannibal Corpse. They don't deviate, you know what to expect but some of these riffs are pretty catchy. 7/10.

Cannibal Corpse is in my personal all-time top-3 when it comes to death metal. They've always been consistent for 30 years. There's not a bad record in their catalogue. This one's no exception. Have they done better in recent years? Sure. But I'm still satisfied, and I enjoyed it blasting it after a long time :)
