It would make luxury companies want to add this to their collection if it would have that handle, just like what they do with their current big bag line ups, they make a mini version of those too. Like a crossbody accessory
Thank you for existing! I just started working leather and I've been watching your videos only for a couple of days. Working on my third project and already huge improvments. I got almoast all necessery tools. Some second hand and some new. A metal ruler is one of the new but I could not find one with cork or anti-slip backing for a decent price/shipingtime, so I glued a piece of scrap leather to the backside of the new ruler. Works great. Probably been done before but I wanted to share :)
Your channel inspired me to finally start leatherworking! Started watching around a year ago and just recently got some starter supplies. Thank you for your content, I'm sure I'll end up buying from your website to support the channel.
Hey corter, you’ve really helped me start my leather working journey and these tutorials and tip videos really have helped me get better. I even have a business. And I was wondering if we could get this pattern since it’s no longer on Weaver?
What you can do is cut out 2 or 3 tiny triangles out of the round part, the gusset part, on the small side piece. That way you will get less awkward and fidgety folds. That is what I did when I didn't know how to skive, and still do it now because it ends up much easier and cleaner.
Nice, simple, effective design. i will make a few of these for my business and crafter friends. However, I might attach the male snap to the body before gluing it to the liner, to prevent indenting any of the cards.
I really love tiny objects. I been doing tiny wallets lately and it'ss so cute and satisfying when you put all the stuff in. (Love your channel, I see yours videos while hand sewing and is pretty cool working with other person that is working too)
I was actually thinking about doing something like that. I think I will use this pattern and maybe add a pocket for holding the company's credit card. Thanks for giving the pattern for free.
those gusseted sides always give me a hard time. My fingers hurt watching this, and then i realized I have never glued the gusset in prior to stitching. Now I need to try it.
they give me a hard time too! my hands are just too big for stuff like that, I've learned over time to not worry about the edges being perfectly even and then sanding away the excess- once it's all together and sanded it always looks nice. Getting it all together tho - glue is a savior!
Hello, I found you channel few days ago, and I am totally inspired now. I am very interested at DIY. Problem is, that leather is so expensive for me. Please can you help me and hint me some cheaper material for begin. Some syntethic leather or something like that. I want to learn basic techniques and after that I can buy real leather. Thank you so much. PS: Sorry for my English, is not my natural language.
Could you comment as to when you use rubber cement vs something like Barge? It looks like you almost always use the rubber cement, but I'm not sure about that. Thanks!!!
Creo que la parte más complicada de este monedero es ver como marca y abre los agujero de la parte redonda del pequeño fuelle y es lo que no muestra Un saludo
hey i know you made this video a long time ago but i was wondering what is that tumbled leather called? I looked everywhere but cant seem to find something like it. Thanks!!
Hi, This is a great idea! I wanted to make one for my grandson, but when I clicked on the link, I couldn't find the free pattern. Please send me the link. Thanks a lot!
Good gracious this was a pain in the rear to make! It should have come with a warning haha..I'm just using some scrap oil tan leather thats probably too thick for this anyway. A good project to practice though.
I don't see the pattern on the linked page. I only see the tools. At least it reminded me that I've been needing to order a chopping block. No more using scraps as a backer! Ordering now.
It's right next the the embedded video, the link says "Free Wallet pattern!" :) I actually need a new chopping block too, your comment reminded me to order one!
@@Corter When I first went there, the video wasn't there but the link was. Probably because you had just published on YT. I just didn't realize the text was the link. Thanks for the heads up. I did notice in your leather keychain video a couple of months ago that your chopping block was looking rough. Thanks for your awesome videos. I do leatherwork as an occasional hobby and your videos always motivate me to make something new.
Hi I have a suggest for your next video "Made" a armani messenger bag. Thank You do realy good video continu. (I speak french so sorry if my english is bad)
Nice!! I've been needing to make myself one of these for so long! Now I have no reason to wait any longer. :o) Thanks for the video and pattern. Loving your videos since you started explaining your process. I get so much more from them. I always look forward to seeing them posted on TH-cam.
Just an observation..I checked each link below and there is NOT a pattern for this design..the Weaver link is only a link to buy Super Overpriced items..Crazy 10x to 20x the price else where..Sad really because I enjoy your channel but You lose creditability by reccomending such a company that preys upon customers you send over to them..plus Zero Pattern for this design at Weavers..Thanks again for your great video tutorial as usual..
The first link in the description leads you to this page: www.weaverleathersupply.com/catalog/cp_/shop-by-project/corter-leather/wallets/leather-briefcase-wallet To the right of the embedded video on that page there is a link that says "Free Wallet Pattern". That is your free wallet pattern. To your point about Weaver's prices, I'd be interested to know what products you see that they are charging 10-20x the price for elsewhere. Weaver has one of the best reputations in the entire industry, which is why we reached out to them four years ago (they did not reach out to us) and have been working only with them since. Their tool lines offer the best quality for the price by far, so please let me know where you see price gauging. That's a big claim. Thanks.
@@Corter Okay,Okay..I admit that claim is a bit excessive, and perhaps a bit harsh to stress the point..but seriously the leather materials are in fact grossly over priced..such but noy limited to that pig skin at $37.99 when several other companies charge $9.99 with some of them then giving a free skin at a $9.99 price.. So yes the small hand tools are priced okay but the larger tools and machines are in fact crazy expensive.. Examples such as the powered burnisher for $900.usd..lets be real about it, its a $40 mini bench grinder at best with the burnishing attachments on it..its a very common theme with there larger tools and machines..like their $1600.usd hand powered sewing machine that was a Italian machine painted blue that used to sell for $200.usd before Weaver bought the rights to it..You have a great channel I just disagree with the business practices of your sponsor..Thats it..Best wishes my friend..
I think what you might be speaking to is a difference in quality - the bench grinders for example, you're paying a premium for a good product. That's why we show how to hand sand most things for the hobbiest. In my full-time shop I've had their power edge slicker for 9 years used daily with zero maintenance and it's never even blinked in use. thousands and thousands of pieces have been sanded and slicked on it, I Burnt out 3 of those $40 harbor freight grinders before I bought it. I understand there are cheaper versions of what they sell for sure! but i think for the quality they offer, with the warranty support etc the prices are more than fair in a professional, full time leather workshop especially considering they make most of their presses and such in house in the USA. They're certainly going to last a long time for anyone looking to buy equipment in the hobby that will last as well.
Can I practice with faux leather & expect the skills gained to translate well into real leather, or are the materials too dissimilar? I'm obviously new to this...
Any chance of getting the pattern for this since it's not on Weavers site any more?
Your freehand cutting is that of a master craftsman. I can’t imagine how many hours you have put into your craft
If you want to have some fun with this, add a tiny handle to the top and make it into a true briefcase for your business cards!!
you totally could! that'd be adorable haha
That is a great idea to this already awesome design; what would you make the handle out of?
@@mindyhall4638 It would be pretty easy to just use a strip of veg tan and a few rivets.
It would make luxury companies want to add this to their collection if it would have that handle, just like what they do with their current big bag line ups, they make a mini version of those too. Like a crossbody accessory

Very good project, looks great
With the leather rougher, if you use your ruler as a guide it makes it much easier.
that's a great tip, thank you! I'm new to that tool, it seems like it'll be a big help though :)

cute! Makes me want to try hand stitching - great video!

Stunning.
That is a classic, especially if you add a little handle as Offkilter leather suggested👍🏼
A nice little card holder. Like it 👍

For me the edge is the hardest thing to do. I do a lot of sanding then burnishing. Yes you are right, it takes a lot of attention.
Your video was fascinating! I know nothing about working with leather, but it looks like a wonderful skill.
I made some of these....the tiny gusset was a little tough, but with practice.....
Any chance you still have the pattern? Would like to make this myself, unfortunately the pattern is gone
You should try the pre-pricking method!
Great project. I would add a card slot on the back, too.
I ordered a bottle hook and wallet a month ago, can’t wait for them to come in :)
Simple but very useful ...❤️❤️❤️ love it...
I REALLY like this project! It's fun, it's got versatility, and it's small. Putting it down to try once I get into leatherworking someday xD
Great video, but can you please link the pattern?
Nice !! i love your videos and products and I'm not even a leather worker,

How did you punch the holes on the curved part of the gusset?
G’day mate, what is the glue you are using? Or what would you recommend for a beginner?

What kind of leather did you use?
