I teach Collision repair and refinishing at a public high school and these videos are the only ones that I show my students outside of the curriculum I use simply because it aligns well and by that I mean with anyone able to post on youtube it is full of videos that are supplying incorrect procedures, these videos are not those they are great for my beginners. Thank you Kevin and The Eastwood Company!
I watched close to 50 videos on autobody and hate everyone. but this guy renewed my interest in autobody work...A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
hands down one of the very best auto body teachers on youtube. ..I am working on my first serious panel repair on a mustang I just bought...was lucky to find a perfect door cheap, but rear panel was a mess....after watching these 3 videos I feel confident the body work will turn out great...great job!
Thankyou Kevin for doing these videos, I've just started restoring a 1971 VW Beetle in the uk and having never done bodywork before and found these videos extremely informative, it's guys like you that gets guys like me out and doing our own bodywork, thank you guys👍🏻
Hey Kevin, I have watched many of your Eastwood Autobody product videos. Your energy and knowledge is very appreciated! I have been perfecting "the craft" for some time now and like you I always have my ears opened for tips and tricks. Your videos have reallly helped me to understand the products. Therefore understand how to avoid issues and do the job right. Solvent bad, soft sanders very good!
Thank you! I'm an older female who just purchased an '05 with a body in really great shape except for the back hatch ( where the manufacturer put screws to hold the license plate light and automatic latch sensor right thru sheet metal where moisture can seep behind and it rusted out ) so now I'm repairing my vehicle myself for my very first time. Some awesome tips and tricks to hopefully allow me to be proud of my finished product. You explained it well enough that even this newby has confidence to succeed!
What a pro. I learned a ton and really enjoyed watching all three segments. Kevin is extremely knowledgeable and an engaging speaker and storyteller. Many Thanks.
With the tape trick, you want to make sure when you wipe the filler an pull the tape off make sure it's sanded before laying down the filler for the bottom or you can come up with a small trench line in between them. Seen this happen so much. I usually don't lay down tape until I'm sanding and just sand up to the tape to make a crisp original body line. Great video btw!
I just started watching your videos. You are definitely passionate about your job. You are an excellent teacher also. Thanks. Makes me want to sling more mud!
Great programs Kevin bought your paintucation videos years ago . Finally getting into restoring old Holden’s. your tutorials are excellent. Cheers Doc Rochester Victoria Australia , ,
Guys - this stuff is great. On my last resto (and first) I handed the body shell and panels over to a body shop. All the rest I did myself. I am really looking forward to doing my own next time. I have absolutely no clue and these videos are a great start - well presented and make a lot of sense. From Brisbane Australia.
this guy gives good straightforward information and he actually demonstrates what hes talking about as he explains it. for a second it even made me think “well heck i can do that”...not!
I watched this video series when it came out but now that I actually have a project car I needed a refresher course on this stuff. Thanks Kev. Eastwood always puts out good vids
Great Videos Kevin. A pleasure to watch. I have no questions to ask because the instruction was so complete. Its was only later when I thought about it , there was a ton of technique and tips demonstrated here. Thankyou very much.
Thanks for the great tutorial and the clear instructions. I am in the Pacific Island American Samoa. This has helped me to choose the correct supplies to work with and look at a great week end task. Thanks Wally

KEVIN, Do you guys do any fiberglass molded cars in your shop. I am becoming of fan of your show as it is well put together and easy to follow, but i do not see any tips relating to body work, paint ect. . .on my type of project which is a fiberglass hood, front clip, body shell, deck lid set up where the panels dont fit exact from the start. thanks man!
This was Great I had 1 question. After epoxy has lost 5 day window before applying filler do you need to re spray another coat or sand to metal in those spots?
So if I understand this correctly.... lets say I: 1. media blast 2. epoxy primer 3. waited more than 5 days to do filler I should then: 1. sand down to the metal to apply the filler OR 2. sand down to the metal, re-epoxy, then filler within 5 days In other words, don't just scuff up 6 day old epoxy and apply filler over it. Right?
for that sailpanel that kevin took out the lead filler on that was steel but the filler he said he going to use is aluminum filler so my question is that can be applied to steel or aluminum ? even tho its called aluminum filler i have t-top cutlass gbody and i took off vynal top and now it shows factory lead filler weld where quarter panel meets the roof so im guessing i should somehow remove that lead filler and put that aluminum filler over ? how would i go bout removing it and what all should i do after to get ready for primer n paint just fill aluminum to bare metal then body filler then glazing puddy then 2k primer then epoxy then paint is that correct im new to this but would like correct direction and thanks for the videos very helpfull
Eastwood Contour Aluminum-Filled Compound is designed to repair factory-leaded seams because of it's high strength. Yes, it is designed to be used over steel. The aluminum particles gives it the extra strength you need in those areas. Visit Eastwood.com and search "contour" and you will see the product, or look up item "13518". Thanks for the interest.
thanks for response woulda been nice to have full answer to my questions but you answered my main question so im happy i like your products aswell ive only used rust encapsulater and the chassis black and i was happy with the results so i will have to get that aluminum filler aswell thanks again from a payin customer in the past and the future....
I have a 2000 Ford F250 and on my bed the factory paint has chipped off and i touch it and feel off how do i fix the and a small dent from a basketball i used a suction cup to pull it out but it still there but pops back in
Niko G You basically have two options. The first is to heat-shrink the area, meaning you heat an area the size of a quarter, move the metal with a hammer-dollie and then quench it with cold water to shrink the metal. You should definitely have the right equipment and someone experienced working with you, or learn the proper technique from videos. The other option is to cut out the dent and weld in a patch panel. There are videos on our TH-cam Channel showing these techniques. Thanks for the interest in Eastwood.

Excelent series Kevin, I learned much.

Turns out, its easier than i thought. Well, at least it looks easy when a pro does it, i'd probably end up with a "Mad Max" themed body LOL.
!. Never apply body filler over paint. 2. If you go past the time limit on epoxy primer all you have to do is scuff it to create a mechanical bond.
This was Great I had 1 question. After epoxy has lost 5 day window before applying filler do you need to re spray another coat or sand to metal in those spots?
Thanks, Kevin. Great!!!
Nice job Kevin! Looking forward to my project.
Thank you, great tips to follow.
Thanks for these videos !!! Tought me alot ...
What a cool dude!
quality series!
Kevin..how far to hold your gun when spraying
So if I understand this correctly.... lets say I:
1. media blast
2. epoxy primer
3. waited more than 5 days to do filler

1. sand down to the metal to apply the filler OR
2. sand down to the metal, re-epoxy, then filler within 5 days
In other words, don't just scuff up 6 day old epoxy and apply filler over it. Right?
... no, why would you sand back down to metal after applying the epoxy?
you can just scuff the epoxy and bondo.
Is all of this still relatively relevant (in terms of the types of filler used, not the techniques), now in 2018?
Yes, this info is still pertinent.

I keep hearing about people drilling holes before applying filler so it holds.
Do people still do that?

Can ya'll go more "in depth" about primer sealers and the epoxy coats?
Man it sure is nice to see unscripted how to video
So today, I learned
For dents: sand to metal apply Contour premium filler.
Use 36, 80, 180 grit.
Epoxy primer over metal, then use fillers.
